Summary: Extremely boring and buggy
Review: I was pretty excited about this game when I bought it and the first few weeks were fun but it quickly becomes repetative. The crashes and other problems are also very annoying.

Summary: Anarchy Online is not worth it! (Worth 0 stars)
Review: Do not buy this game. It truely is a waste of money. I signed up for 6 months on the hope that it was a good game but the hype was never matched by actual gameplay.

After 3 months of retail release the game is still Beta quality with continual changes that effect major parts of the game. Unfortunantely these changes are not for the better and create more bugs than they intended to fix. They continually change character abilities so that things you planned on and spent time on become useless.

There is no "On-going story line" as you have been told there is or will be. It is already a month late and does not seem like it will happen any time soon. With the buggy state of the code any event would should be a crash fest and more frustrating than fun.

My final comment as to the quality of the game is this. There are no multi-level dungeons (missions) in this game! Every thing is on the same level. No stairs to another level or anything. This is not state of the art - if anything it is worse than the old days of dungeon-mazes because at least those had more than one level.

In summary... Poor game play. Poor design. Poor planning and execution. Boring, imbalanced and a complete disappointment. ...

Review: stay away from this game. Run, dont walk. Bug ridden. Incompetant programming. Idiotic business decisions.

Summary: An honest review(still playing)
Review: This game has the POTENTIAL to be a great RPG game. I've been playing since release and having fun.

As an MMORPG, it is always being upgraded and bug fixed. To truely get what the current situation is go to somewhere like aovault.com or ao-basher.com and check the message forums. Anarchy Online HAD message forums but after a bad patch they had alot of bad messages and on the day of European release, the got rid of all the messageboards except for 1 that is 100% moderated(as in nothing is posted till reviewed by FUNCOM).

So, to write a review from a customer standpoint is pointless with a game that is constantly changing... go to a major Anarchy Online Fansite(not the official waterdowned version) and read what current customers have to say about the game, it changes from patch to patch. But if you like SciFi and you like MMORPGs this is a very good game to get if you can handle the bugs and possibly drastic changes to certain Professions that you can be.

Summary: Pulling your teeth is waaay more fun
Review: Bug, bugs, bugs, bugs, bugs and more bugs.
Every time the game is updated they introduce new bugs.
The coding is horrible and it isnt getting fixed.
Norvegians make great pickled lox but they dont know jack about customer service or reliable coding.

With all the bugs and graphical glitches curerently AO is nothing but a huge chatroom. If you have no friends or a grilfriend and you're looking for similar people AO is for you.

Summary: Terrible letdown
Review: I'd been looking forward to this game for over a year, and even with the terrible bugs and problems that haunted the game upon launch, I stuck with it hoping for improvements. I'm sad to say that even after two months and numerous attempts to fix the game, it is still a very poor effort. Technical glitches, arrogance from the support staff, and a lack of interesting content makes this a game to avoid.

Summary: Bad, Very Bad Game!
Review: *BEWARE the "FanBoi" 5-star reviews at the top, they know not of what they speak and are just trying to spam the review system.
Ok, I'll say something nice first - nice graphic engine, things do look pretty.

Now the bad:
1) Crash, crash, crash (may users can't play the game longer than 10 minutes)
2) FunCom has the worst Customer Support I've ever seen, makes Verant (EverQuest) look good in comparison.
3) Game Bugs abound. Not just common, but PROLIFIC! Some are so bad that they can be exploited, others make the game virtually unplayable with any enjoyment. The updates seem to add as many bugs as are fixed.

There are more but why bother - folks are leaving this game in DROVES. You are paying NOW for a Beta game that won't be enjoyable for a minimum of 6 months... save your money for Dark Age of Camelot!

Summary: Confessions of a "Fanboy"
Review: I'm what some would call a fanboy. In my eyes Funcom could do no wrong and they had created the greatest MMORPG ever. Well helping with Beta 4 and buying 2 copies of the retail version. I played for 2 months solid. My bottom line, I quit after many disconnections, poor customer service by Funcom, and the final straw... Boredom. I am a strong role player and have played other RPG's over the years, I must admit that AO has INCREDIBLE POTENTIAL! My problem with the software though is TERRIBLE implementation.

If I could assign a zero to this product I would.

this product is NOT ready for public consumption.

Summary: Desktop madness
Review: I'll make this short and sweet. AO is very unstable, which can be sometimes tolerated but the main complaint that I, and others, have is that Funcom reinvents itself every two weeks with constant nerfing.

For example : You like your character, you have acquired equipment, you modeled him to be a two pistol wielding killer with very rare and nice armor. You are in heaven but then Funcom decided make some changes in a routine patch of the game.

Your pistols cannot be dual wielded, the monsters hit and cast spells much harder and faster, your armor was deleted from the database and you can no longer do much of anything. This may seem far fetched but it is the simple truth unfortunately.

The game is not finished, the company is incompetent and destructive, the frustration level is staggering, and you are forced to constantly scrap current characters and "re-roll" to make a viable fighter.

If you like masochism you will like Anarchy Online. If you don't then I would suggest that you please pass this game by on the shelf and encourage all others to do the same.

Summary: Do not Buy this game
Review: Conceptually this game may sound appealing but after playing 3 months let me assure you DO NOT WASTE your time or money. It's maker FUNCOM has to be one of the worst game developers of all time. If you want to spend hours and hours building a character to a certain level of performance only to log on one day and find out all of the rules have drastically changed, go right ahead and buy this game. There are still countless bugs of items that don't work, references to places that don't exist in game, etc. Just so you know what you're getting yourself in for here is just one example of how FUNCOM works: in anticipation of the Europe lanch of this game wipe your Bulletin Boards of any complaints that exist, and then institute a moderated only reply system.
