Summary: Fantastic game, and I SOLO
Review: Lots of reviewers telling you how hard it is to solo are: 1) not very good at soloing and 2) missing one of the points of the game. First off, I'm a cleric, and I'm soloing fine up to 9th level. Secondly, the other players you meet in the world are friendly, helpful and will definatley group with you if you'd like. Take out hard monsters, use your character's strengths to the fullest while making up for their weaknesses with the strengths of others.. DAoC is fantastic!

Summary: Fills a niche in the MMORPG world!
Review: Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC) provides a very different MMORPG experience for those seeking one. I played Everquest for years and had grown quite comfortable with the leveling structure, experience & combat systems, and difficulty. Because you could just as easily find a spec chart and description of the game somewhere else, I'm going to compare DAoC to Everquest, for those players considering buying DAoC.

Plusses:
-Camp times are almost non-existant. While down time certainly exists, there's almost no "waiting for repop" time, like there constantly was in Everquest. Rare spawns and perms respawn within a reasonable amount of time throughout the game, never taking longer than two or three hours at the most (compared to oh, say, the Raster camp from EQ...average of 90? 100 hours?).
-Twinking is impossible. One of DAoC's unique features is assigning a level to all of the items in the game. Items too high level for your character will not give you their maximum benefits and will degrade much faster, thereby preventing people from handing down gratuitously good equipment to their lower level characters. Because items are only useful within a 3-4 level range (above or below), DAoC's economy will remain much more stable than Everquest's for a long time. Instead of hunting in a dungeon to get loot that sells to players half your level, you go into a dungeon and get loot that's better than what you're using.
-The quest system is much more user friendly. A built in journal tracks your progress and next step, and the quests are fun and much more engaging than the average EQ quest, where most of your time was spent camping some monster.
-The classes are infinitely more balanced than in Everquest. I've only played in the realm of Albion, but within Albion every class has its strengths and weaknesses which manage to balance each other out. There's also a lot more variety between individual characters of the same class; every level you are awarded "spec points" which can be used to increase specific skills your character uses.
-The player versus player system is for the most part excellent. There's an appropriate battleground for every level so you can PVP without fear of being victimized by people twice your level. Teamwork PVP is intense, engaging, and absolutely necessary, because DAoC rewards you in PVE for being effective in PVP. Players can also choose whether or not to participate in PVP; the game never requires it, and you can go for pretty much the entire game without worrying about it if you so choose.

Minuses:
-You level really quickly compared to Everquest. While some might consider this a good thing, it makes the overall amount of game time much smaller. Players have gone from level 1 (minimum) to 50 (maximum) within a period of a couple weeks of dedicated play, whereas a similar level jump in Everquest would take months, possibly years.
-The game is incomplete, and more is added slowly via patches. While this may discourage many people, it shouldn't, as all MMORPGs function this way.

Summary: Totally Encompassing
Review: I've played many D&D type games in the past and to tell the truth became bored with them as they were all more or less the same. Then a friend turned me on to this game. I watched him for a while and thought, "what the heck, its at least worth the price".
The mail attraction is the interaction between players when forming groups. You can have a lot of fun with this and sometimes its downright entertaining by itself. There are think tasks (quests) rather than find the baddie and slay him as well as other inovations.
The idea that you cannot harm or be harmed by another player in your own realm is good as well. Only when you want to venture out to the frontier to actually do battle against other players from other realms and perhaps lay siege to a castle and try (its not easy) to steal their relics do you find yourself facing other players.
Many of the monsters are smart as well and they can be quite crafty when attacking a group. Players have to devise stratagies to over come rather than slash and slay.
A great game...I'll be playing for years to come!

Review: this is a great MMORPG for everyone for the PvM (player vs monster) people out there the monsters are great and always fun to kill to gain some money now for you PvPers (play vs player) people out there I haven't found a better game if you want to go it solo you can easily do that with any class in the game of course some classes are better than others in solo and with stealth this is espeachly true Stealth is a skill that allows u to run at a bit slow pace but unseen to other players untill u are hiting them. For players who prefer the more normal method u can always be a tank and bash people over the head with ur sword mace sheild ect, for the magic usesers out there you can be anything from a top quality nuker to a person who attacks with a pet this game is well worth the money the support is great they are always updating it and adding new things and the camelotherald.com website is sweet to keep track of how you and your guild mates and other friends stack up against others in PvP

Summary: Not for the solo player
Review: Ok, I must say this game is MUCH BETTER then EverQuest BUT...,
It's NOT for solo players.

I have been playing now on different realms and have tried all of the characters offered (as a solo player) and it doesn't work.

Yes, the helpers say, "Play a Sorcerer, Wizard or Theurgist Class.. BHAAAA!

You get killed in less then 5 minutes by fighting things that con green with the above mentioned classes.

If you like getting frustrated by constantly being killed or going backwards with your fighting skills, this is the game for you!

If you want to relax and have some fun after a hard days work, this game is NOT for you..!

Summary: Not for the solo player!
Review: The graphic's are awsome and the playing is fun IF you like to group for the rest of your chracters carrier.

Yes, they will say a Wizard, Sorcerer or Theurgist are good soloist but, I've been playing these 3 "toons" for almost 6 months and get killed 5 times (if not more) in 30 minutes everytime. (I'm fighting things that are level green, the lowest level to score anything).

Nope, not for the solo player or for the person that just wants to have fun and relax after a hard days work.

You will become frustrated even more. (Talk about toon-rage).

Summary: BEST MULTIPLAYER GAME
Review: I ahve just played this game over at a friends house two days ago and let me tell you, it is WONDERFUL! The graphics are great and there is plenty of action. There is also stragety and you can team up with other players to take the down the most difficult of enimies. U can choose 4 races, a male or female, and you can choose 4 ways of battle. The way or Arms, Stealth, Magic and Nature. Each one gives you different ablities. You have many choices of hair color and style, how tall or short. THIS GAME IS DEFENTLY WORTH THE SMALL FEE OF ONLY $10.00 A MONTH!

Summary: DAoC
Review: This game is an 100% improvement over anything currently in the market to date. And like it's predecessors DAoC will also eventually fall to the Next Generation MMORPG, but until then do not contemplate, aquire DAoC and play! As we speak the game is being updated, patched and improved. However you intend to interact in DAoC, RvR (Realm vs. Realm) is the centralized theme.
