Summary: Classic
Review: A great game in its time and a true classic today. It's THE game to have for cyborg killing, big weapon shooting, ultra macho, adrenaline pumping, super violent action. Great for single player and multiplayer fans alike. No FPS library is complete without this game.

Summary: Excellent Game
Review: After reading all the reviews, there is one argument I like to write here:

Thousands of fans sites all over the internet, if not millions devoted to Quake II.

So better than trust the word of the reviewers, live the Quake II experience for yourself, love it or hate it, but one thing is for sure, you won't be indiferent to it.

Review: An excellent game, revolutionary for its time. It kept me up many nights playing multiplayer. All the mods available for this game alone make it one of the best out there.

Review: Gotta love this game. since I bought it in '98 I played through it a couple of times, and I played it again on my new PC. Back then it was really cool to see a game that actually had missions in it =)
The gameplay is just great, its still one of my favorite games, and one of the 5 commercial games I have installed. Occassionally I go back to this game to play through a few units or play with a couple of friends over the LAN or modem.
I got bored with Quake3 very quickly, but this game still gets me coming back every once in a while!
If you don't own this game yet, I can tell you this is a $10 well spent (it was a $45 well spent too, back in the day:)

Review: I liked this game a lot but the only drawback was tha i have windows xp and w/ windows xp the graphics really [were bad]. It totally took away from the gameplay. If you're looking for a really good shooter go try Ghost Recon. but otherwise quake 2 is pretty good for the money. Be warned xp users their is a fluke in this games graphics for xp. It worked better on my friends 98 than on my xp so something is up. If anyone knows how to fix this graphics problem please write it into a review

Review: I've had Quake II for over 4 years, and at one point played it for over 4 hours a day, every day. I've waisted thousands of hours on this game, and know everything there is to know about it. I was once one of the top thousand in the world. Take it from me when I say this truly is THE best game ever produced, and that's saying something since it was released in 1998. The single player mode gets old quick, but online multiplayer is so intense and down-right FUN that it can drain years off of your life. I've moved on, I haven't played it in several months. But I owe it to this game to say it really is the best and anyone assembling a PC game collection needs this game.

As for buying hints, don't buy this game for any of the game consoles, because they stink; stick with the PC/Mac version. Also, don't buy it unless you have a internet connection and intend to play multiplayer, because it will get old quick otherwise. Also, don't buy this game unless you have at least a medium-good graphics board (usually at least 16MB), along with other elements of your PC being relatively robust.

Summary: Quake II
Review: Quake II is a first person shooter by Id software and Activision. It is the sequal to Quake, which is the first real 3D game and one of the most important game in FPS history. The plot is you play a marine in space who crashes in an alien planet. Quake2's single player gameplay is quite dull, But compared to the orginal Quake it is much better. You need to solve mission objectives to complete a level. There are 39 levels in 9 hub levels and they are as closely intertwined as Hexen's hub layout, So you need to travel back and forth to complete one hub level. There are also lots of villans to deal with, Alien mutant creatures with guns insted of hands and many others in all shapes and sizes, Unfortunatly the enemy AI is poor. There are lots of weapons too and even the first weapon is a blaster gun with infinte ammo, No Axe here. I Played Quake2 on the default OpenGL video mode, The graphics are very good and the game runs very well, Even faster than Quake. But the charecters dont look real and the game looks cartoony. Quake2 has a very good multiplayer gameplay, The connection, maps, weapons and the multiplayer options are a great improvement from the first game. Quake2's single player game is quite bad but the multiplayer gameplay is very good.

Summary: The first was better, harder, and smarter
Review: Quake II's plot doesn't make any sense cause why would ONE soldier go against an ENTIRE army of baddies, instead of his men fighting alongside him? I wished that your soldiers were also there, on the planet, with YOU killing baddies. And I also laughed my *ss off when I saw the ending. Games like Half-Life or the original Quake are FAR superior to this type of gameplay. But I've gotta admit... the weapons in this game are just plain BAD! And what I mean by bad, I mean GOOD. The original Quake I think was the first game to be skeletal-animated. And the AI in this game is stuupid! I just stood in front of a guy and shot, and the guy never fired back! What IS this? And Quake II's air enemies are just SO small I can't even see them! Quake II doesn't have Apaches like in Half-Life or any Gargantuas as well. Quake II doesn't have anything BIG... except for the guns. :)
