Summary: Confessions of a beta tester
Review: Okey, I'm also beta testing this game.. I've also both beta'd and played Dark Ages of Camelot, I've done a little Everquest and AC1, and also beta'd the new westwood MMORG 'Earth and Beyond'.

I guess the first question anyone is going to ask is 'So, how does this game differ from any of the others out there?', and the good news is that it DOES differ - and I think favourably so.

Unlike the other games there are no NPC's, not one.. if you see something moving it's either a monster you can kill, or a real person. This does feel kinda wierd at first, but you get used to it :).
Instead the back story is revealed by cutscenes revealed as you complete vaults (Vaults are different from dungeons in that you get no XP from the monsters in them except the big bad, but you'll get phat loot or a cutscene at the end instead).
If you need weapons or armor, then you can either pick stuff up from monster drops, you can make your own (the monster drops providing materials you can use for this, or alternaivly you can go mine stuff), or you can buy it from another player.

Skill wise it's much more dynamic and varied than either of E&B and DAOC, there are skill trees akin to Diablo where you can go down different paths, put different amounts of points into each skill, etc.. this should help make each char more unique

Oh, yeah.. and graphically? It's the only game thus far that has made me climb a hill or mountain -just- to look at the view, all I can say is 'wow!'.

Sure, the game has it's bad points.. some of the balance stuff needs tweaking for example, the quests more varied perhaps.. It likes a chunky machine to do the best detail rates, -but- it's still early days.. DAOC's taken over a year to get to where it is today don't forget.

My feeling is that AC2 has a heck of a strong foundation and even if not bought today should be one you watch out for in the coming months.

Summary: Short and To the Point
Review: I'll keep this short. I beta test for AC2, I took part in AC1. The Asheron's Call franchise is absolutely spellbinding. You cannot ask for a better game, if you should even call it a game. You meet real people and establish real, lasting friendships. People have even been married after meeting in AC and love eachother, I know two of them personally. Now, don't think anything negative of AC2 until you try it. Then and only then should you wonder about the quality of this game. I vote it as not just one of the best, but THE best game I've ever known of.

Summary: Skill Trees and Social interface
Review: I have been Beta Testing AC2 since Beta 1...

The best part of the Game is the graphics... absolute "eye candy"

Thats where my good review ends...

I have played Asherons call (one) since it went "retail" over two years ago. The graphics are quite poor in AC1 ... but since the content and user interface are so much better than AC2 I would place AC1 as the better of the games.

Further, content is lost on the game due to Skill trees ... a required progression for your character to follow as your character advances... there are currently 5 skill trees that will lead you to level 50 in a very linear fashion...For example if you were once a OG mage in AC1 with life spec'd the skill tree you would want to follow would be Mage, but wait... you can't spec anything more than a few spells forget the Life spec or any other special skill. Turbine will lead you by the hand through your character development.

Other problems include a difficult to read interface making socializing with other players frustrating. And no NPCs (non player characters)to trade with. No NPCs will give rise to websites like "the frostfell exchange" .... ... ... Non supported sites by players that will determine value to items to prevent other players from getting ripped off on that Uber item.

If you love AC1 and want to Give AC2 a try... first try to get into Beta... Or even buy the game ... If you buy the game Play it alot duing your 30 day free trial, and cancel before you make your first monthly payment if you dont like it.

Chuxor (level 60 classic 4 school mage Frostfell)
Chux the Lux (level 58 classic Blademaster)
Chuxor II (level 50 OG Mage critter spec)
Chux alchycook (level 40 trade-mule)

Summary: Review of fallen kings
Review: I am a current player of Asheron's call, and i must say that this game was the biggest disapointment ever. The game has great graphics thats true, but it lacks a better combat system wich is one of the things use the most in a game like this and this combat system is way to basic and boring to be anything good. Furthermor there isnt that big diference betwen characters like in the original asherons call.

Summary: Eventhough it is in Beta stage
Review: People get mad and say its just a Beta..They would have to destroy the current Beta, Keep the Graphics and vamp the current AC-Dm game to make it worth buying. Its a game for ages 7 to 100 making it so ANYONE can play even ppl not used to playing MMORPGS. Im extremely dissapointed with Turbine and do not recomend this Game(Unless they start all over) I do reccomend this game to peeps who are easly entertained and do not have much gaming experiance at all...errrmmm the saying "dump ppl game" comes to mind. Athough im only calling that to ppl who buy. I gave it 2 stars for Graphics only.

Summary: Great eye candy, but gameplay is so boring.
Review: The game itself is amazingly beautiful, the graphics are superb. But, when it comes to gameplay, Its horrible mindless and boring. For melee, you just sit there whacking at the monster and then hitting a number key everyonce and awhile (Sounds like daoc, eh?), .. wait a minute... mages are the same thing! Just from a distance.. and.. well, so are archers. This game is so horrible game play wise... but, with graphics is so awesome.

Summary: Eye Candy for the Blind: A More Bitter Pill Was Never Taken
Review: If stunning graphics bogged down in lackluster play and repetitive fighting is your cup of tea, I invite you to have your fill. Just don't choke on the Doormouse. Though still in beta this game offers up nothing new to MMORPG fans and seems to enjoy all the weakest aspects of what is out there already. Only time will tell, perhaps after 6 months of monthly updates this mutt might start to show some pedigree.

Summary: AC 2 needs more work done
Review: I practically lived in the AC 1 world for a year and half. After neglecting my real life for this much time I realized at the end that yes I did make some good friends, had some good times ... but most of all I just leveled a character and collected items for vassals day in and day out...

You may be asking what this has to do with AC2, well, AC2 is really the same thing as AC1 - damn why couldnt they do more than just improve the graphics and copy DAOC. I was soooo looking forward to this game. I am an ac fan so I bought it anyway Olorin (Thisledown) reserved name but I am thoroughly dissappointed with the Beta. (except for graphics - they are ok)

BTW Dont get tricked into buying a GFORCE card - they are reccomended by MS (becaseu hey have business with them) the ATI 9700 for desktops and the 9000 for your laptop run stable excellent graphics and are superior to NVIDIAs Gforce in every way possible.

Summary: AC2 has only gotten better!
Review: I've been a part of the BETA and have played for 4 months now. Compared to AC1 it is a major step forward in almost every aspect of AC1. There are still some areas I hope to see changed, but overall the game play, graphics, world, vault campaigns, dungeons, Kingdoms, combat, character advancement, and social interaction are just awesome! Look forward to seeing you there...

Summary: Need's Improvement
Review: ... well the graphics ARE great but only if your PC can load it ...
I have created must of the characters and find the Archer works best for me ...but not to happy with the vitae reduction system or the way the xp system works.....but I'm sure over time changes will be made to make most of the players happy.
