Rating: Summary: the best game ever!! Review: Star craft brood war is a great game. I have been playing it for about 5 years. In star craft, you choose from the races: protoss, terran, or zerg. You choose your race, and then you start the game. In the game you build your own civilization and create units, then you go kill the other players. All the races have their own advantages and disadvantages against each other, which is one of the things that make this game great. The protoss are more advanced and are powerfull, but they are much more expensive, and they build slower. The terran race consists of humans. They are not as expensive as the protoss, but i find them a little more challenging to play with. Then there is the zerg, my favorite. I like the zerg because they build fast, and they are not so expensive. The main advantage of the zerg against both races, is that if you attack someone and all of your units die, you can very quickly build them back up again, and repeat your attack untill you kill that enemy (but i would always keep a few extra units at your base, just incase you get countered by your victims allies.) In Star craft brood war, there are also new units. The new units for the protoss are the Dark archons, which can do mind controll and a few other tricks, and corsairs, wich attack enemy air units. The new units for terran are the valkarie air frigit, and the medic. the valkarie is great against enemy air untis; it shoots rapid missiles at them. The medic is probably the best new unit. With a medic you can rapidly heal your marines and other ground units, and when you are on the net, you can heal your allies units as well. The zerg also have 2 new units: The devourer and the lurker. The devourer by far has the best air attack, but on the other hand, it cant attack ground units. The lurker is another superior unit, (especially if your enemy doesnt have any detectors.) A luker buries itself, and when enemy units walk by, they are torn apart by the lurkers spikes. Then again, lukers and devourers have a shared disadvantage; they both build slow. In conclusion, I highly recomend Star craft Brood War.
Rating: Summary: Good Campaign/Bad Units/ Good buy Review: Contrary to my other review, I am not going to completely support Starcraft Brood War. I have played Starcraft and its expansion since their release and, despite being a loyal blizzard player, I must admit that the new units in this expansion offset the balance of the races. Although the campaigns are very thrilling and were created extremely well, the plot line demands that zerg be the most powerful race. Unfortunately, this power carries over to regular games and gives knowledgable zerg players a large advantage. For $10, Brood War is well worth the money, but mainly for its continuing plot line. However, I believe that the original Starcraft has a superior gameplay.
Rating: Summary: Engaging, but dark Review: I found the game play addictive and fun. It's definitely up there and as good as any other game I've tried thus far in this category. Some frustrations--fewer than any other game (hence the 5 stars) but worth mentioning.1. I found the backstory somewhat disturbing. I didn't *want* to end with the Zerg, and I didn't like how reprehensible many of the characters were, on all sides. Playing not as "top dog" but as a servant to Kerrigan, or the Protoss, or higher up Earth Muckety-mucks, some of the assignments were things I'd rather not do. For example, the "kill so and so" when you just *knew* it was a bad idea was rough, or when you'd previously worked very, very hard to keep so-and-so alive--that was difficult to stomach. The gameplay itself was fun, if you could manage to detach yourself from the fact that your goal was something you really didn't want to be doing (such as wiping out an installation you'd worked very hard to build....) 2. The game didn't react well to my other programs on WinXp. In particular, I'd have other programs operating in the background, they'd pop a window up behind the game, and I'd find my game minimizing randomly (without pausing the game) because I'd inadvertantly clicked on a hidden window underneath for some other program. This lost me quite a few units, because it would invariably happen during an attack or defense situation. Also, I have a two-monitor setup, and often if I scrolled to the side with the second monitor, and clicked, it would minimize the game again, exactly when I didn't want it to.
Rating: Summary: Addictive and challenging Review: Great game--lots of fun. Much more challenging than most, at least in some levels!
Rating: Summary: THIS GAME ROCKS!!!!!! Review: This game is the best computer game ive ever played. Sure, you can buy Warcraft, but the only 2 racees have exact same stats (and how fun is that?). But with StarCraft, you have 3 DIFFERENT races with DIFFERENT stats and better graphics (seriously, if youve seen the warcraft 2 graphics, you know what I mean). Bottom Line: BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Greatest game ever Review: This is the best type of stratagy game there is, it makes age of empires seem so bad. 1 player games are great. you can be either zurg, protoss, or terran. When i got it the first time i thought " man theres only three civilizations". but there is so much to do with each civilization. so many warriors and buildings to make....things to reserch. its really fun..but the best part of this game is online you can play with your friends do minigames and all these other awsome use map settings games. THIS IS DEFINATLY A BEST BUY!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Starcraft: Brood War Review: I think this game is better than any onther computer game ever! I can't stop playing it. I'm playing it right now. It is awsome! I love the new units. Especialy the medic ;D . This game is the best!
Rating: Summary: Starcraft: Brood War Review: I borrowed Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War from a friend and the game is the best computer game in the world. What makes it really special is that you can play it on Battle.net. I couldn't stop playing it till I had to give itback. I like how you get to play three different races instead of just one. This really has a lot to do on Battle.net. I usually had chosen Protoss or Terran. I'm not that good with Zerg, though. Anyway, I just ordered them both and I can't wait to get them!
Rating: Summary: Great Adition to SC Review: Brood War is a great addition to starcraft. It adds 6 new units to starcraft: Valkyries and Medics [Terran], Devourers and Lurkers [Zerg], and Dark Archons and Corsairs [Protoss]. Also, the Protoss can now get Dark Templar's and both Zerg and Terran have new upgrades. Adding a couple new fairly equal units to each of the 3 races improves gameplay and strategy alot. As a protoss fan all the added units are a must. I play on battle.net and brood war is just more fun than playing with just starcraft. For the price brood war is a great adition to starcraft(best online game).
