Rating: Summary: Simply: Wow Review: I had played Real Time Strategy games off all types. From the very begining. All the way back to War Craft I. But there always seemed to be something missing. Then, I was in a used book store, and saw this is their software centre really cheep. I had never heard of it, and I had money to spend. Needless to say, that night, a friend of mine went and bought it, and after about six hours of playing head to head, we had found the ultimate RTS game. The 3D enviroment is extrordinary, and the graphics amazing. The only down-side is to really enjoy this game, you need a fast computer, with a really good graphics card. Over all, if you can handle the min. requirements, and like RTSs, you MUST have this game!!
Rating: Summary: Worthy of the big screen Review: More than just a superb computer game, Homeworld has a story that is just excellent for a Sci-fi epic that can mirror itself in History and today's world. The parallel between the game's race journey towards its Homeworld and the exodus of Moses and his people to Israel is undeniable. I think that's one the stong points of the plot, the search for a home, the return to their true land and all of the hardships that must be endured to accomplish this task. But is nonetheless a space opera game in the best style whith his gigantic starships, space battles and epic story. With a little of creativity Homeworld might be a classic not only in our PC screens but in the big screen as this review proudly states.
Rating: Summary: The best of the best of the best!!! Review: I bought back in 2000 when it just came to the stores and when i saw it ive allmost screamd the graphicks of thisgame is he best you can find and i remind you that it is out there for almost 2 years. The campgin andthe storyline are superb and the music is increadible. There is only one thing that can be improved: the controls, it will take some time toget used to them but once you will adapet you will feel very goodabout the controls becouse you push so many bottons at once you feel as if your really controling a complex machine
Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: This game is absolutely incredible. Plan on never doing homework ever again! This game also has some very cool mods that your can get through the Sierra website. I usually find myself to be slow learner, but on this game i managed to learn the hotkeys really fast and i can kick some major butt.... This game is such a GOOD deal too even if you dont like it you only forked out minimal cash for it plus you get the strategy guide. Which by the way is the best strategy guid ever made it gives exact instuctions thus making it easier to build your own strategies from the ones given to you...i cant wait for the sequel!
Rating: Summary: One of the best games of all time Review: Back before Homeworld released, I was an avid fan of anything and everything related to the game. I would peruse sites looking for new previews, anxiously wait for new magazines to come out to see new screenshots, and generally obsess over the game whenever I could. Then it came out, and I didn't get it. And I didn't get it. And I didn't get it. Finally, I picked up an old used copy of it in early 2000, and was totally blown away. The music, the story, the cutscenes, the graphics, the gameplay... everything was exactly as it should be. Homeworld asks us the age-old question... where do we belong? The manual describes in great detail the history of your world Kharak, and your discovery that you are a race not descended from the native life forms of this planet. An ancient relic, the Guidestone, gave a vector pointing off into the galaxy with one word... Hiigara. Home. Your journey begins as a simple scouting mission of the new Mothership. The exodus from Kharak has begun as your race sets off toward the stars. When you return from your mission, you find Kharak in ruins. Your world.. not your true home, but the only home you have ever known, destroyed. Annihilated. Thus your quest begins. I feel that no review of Homeworld would be complete without the mention of the soundtrack. From their version of Adagio for Strings to Yes' song, "The Ladder", the Homeworld soundtrack perfectly reflects the mood of the game... and the GotY edition comes with a music CD of just that. All I can say is that this game is pure enchantment, which will never disappoint. Gameplay: 5/5 Graphics: 5/5 Sound/Music: 5/5 Overall: 5/5
Rating: Summary: A break from the usual sims...this is awesome! Review: Homeworld is the best space sim I've seen. The interface is pretty straight forward, the tutorials are very well done, the plot is excellent, and the playability is awesome. The only reason I gave it 4 stars (4 1/2 really) are the graphics are not "up to par" with today's graphics but this was released in 99 so no big deal. It's not that the graphics are BAD, they are awesome. But compared to today's quake engine, it's not as good. But you will hardly notice because the game play is EXCELLENT! You really feel like you are in space and commanding your own fleet. And I haven't even tried the multiplayer game yet which has got to be wild! The Game of the Year edition comes with the Prima Guide and the music CD so you basically get the game for FREE!!! You can't lose!
Rating: Summary: challanging Review: I think the difficult interface I a part of the difficulty of the game. Actully you don't need the manual to learn the interface and story (remember to read the stratagy guide). Just run training. Anyways, I can't think of a way to make a much more better interface. But actully I don't find interface hard at all (unless I drink coffe and eating a baloney sandwich at the sametime). IN the single player you can choses to be 2 different races, but the senario are the same. Unfortanatly, there dosen't seem to be any cheats for the game. The sound track cd that come with the game hat the 1.05 update patch. There are these black and white videos between each mission. Some of them are strange, for example, if you choses to be tidan, in one of the videos, it says kushan istead of tidan. Also, in the end video, none of the charaters wear socks. Also, the long row of little things on the cover are mines.
Rating: Summary: A Great Game Review: Before I had bought this game I had seen it many times in the store, it looked really cool with the 3D interface and variaty of ships. When I bought it and loaded it on to my computer I was amazed I how good it was. I have played many games such as "Age of Empires" and "Starcraft" and this offered about the same interface but with all the extra bits I had been looking for. Being able to control ships in a 3D envoriment was one of the biggest helps. I found the controls easy to use and the tutorial made it even easier. I do wish there was more options such as bieng able to set up a game with premade fleets and just duke it out but you can't have everything. If you like real time stratagy games you should like this.
Rating: Summary: Execellent Game . . . in theory Review: In theory this would be a Excellent game but after i bought it for its good reviews i learned quickly that i should have downloaded the demo first. Well that was a waste of money it is hard to control everything (bad user interface) in 3d and basically it gave me a headache, i am sticking to 2d games until they make an brain interface device for me to control the ships bc thats how hard it was for me to control everything. And it was quite boring! Usually i don't write reviews and i usually like Sierra games but this one is just horrible. Maybe i could trade it off to one of my friends. don't forget download the demo first.
