Summary: WarCraft II Rocks
Review: This game is one of the best strategy games ever developed, the second best after StarCraft. Many games have great graphics, great game play or great multiplay. But only few games have it all. WarCraft does have it all. Excellent story line, funny sound effects, marvelous single player missions, addicting multiplay and great graphics. Altough WarCraft II the game is 4 years old, and although there have been much development in the game industry the last 4 years, this game is still great and addicting with todays standards and tops most of today's games. Battle.net edition improves the gaming experience by enhancing multiplay and controls.

Summary: Finally for NT
Review: This game rocks and it was developed almost 7 years ago! At only $20, I gladly replaced my old scratched up copy, even thought it still works. Don't look for any current-technology eye-candy, but expect top-notch game-play. Time flies when playing single player and the adrenaline pumps when playing online. Heck, even the redbook audio on the CD will get my heart pumpin -- must... build...

Still, the main reason to buy this is for us NT users. We could sorta play it before, but without sound. Now we get all the goodies, plus battle.net... yipee!

Summary: "For the Alliance"
Review: This was one of the first strategy games I ever tried, and wasn't disappointed. It has an interesting storyline, seemingly based on Tolkien's books. You have a choice of being either controller of the orcs (who have several troll, ogre, and other alliances) or the humans (who have several elf, dwarf, and other alliances). The different races have different technologies, but are similar in most ways. You usually decide your race by personal preference. When you start a campaign, upgrades are few, but as the game progresses, they get more advanced, and thus makes the game more interesting. I gave this game four stars, because though it is a good game, the mouse is hard to control, you can only select nine units at a time, and the units aren't as varied as say, "Age of Empires".

Summary: Same game new arena
Review: This is a good game, engaging, nice mix of thinking and moving. There is a shallow learning curve, yet it retains enough variety to make it worth it to strategize, even plan. Two years ago it was a five. It works pretty well over the web too, about as well as it used to on my two year old power pc. We used to be able to play over a network then. A decent game for preteens as far as violence goes. There's some blood, but it's not gratuitous, and adds to the realtime sense of battle.

Graphics are primitive. With all of the digital algorithm stuff out there, like soul caliber etc, you'd think they could risk a bit of processing efficiency to make the game look cleaner. Units aren't proportional, and the movement logic system doesn't take terrain into account.

Sounds entertaining but mostly distracting, same for music.

Player authoring limited. You can change some basic values, but not really customize the games the way wonky gamers do at higher levels.

Overall, a good game for anybody old enough to handle dialup, but I wished they had spent some more time on upgrading instead of just expanding access.

Summary: Good Classic Bundle
Review: Warcraft was a hit in its day. Although its pretty outdated war, i still play it now and then because its still a playable rts game. This package contains Warcraft 1, 2 and expansion, all of which are great. This is a great addition to anyone classic game collection although i would suggest buying Warcraft 2 battle.net edition now.

Summary: A Classic With a new twist
Review: What a great game! Warcraft provides some of the most challenging, versitile multiplayer strategy I've ever seen. With Battle.net play it's only going to get better. Warning, this game is highly addictive and incredibly fun!

Review: Great game. It looks like amazon actually posted a screenshot of warcraft I: Orcs and Humans, instead of a picture from this game.

Summary: Aging but still good
Review: This game has definitely been around for awhile, but there's a reason it's still played. It's fun! The interface is easy to use, and the 'tech tree' aspect is fairly simple so that even people who haven't played other rts games should have to trouble learning it.

There are a couple of downsides to this game, though in my opinion they aren't much of an issue. One is of course that the graphics are definitely aging and nothing spectacular. It's nice to be able to quickly recognize your units so that you can make the best use of them (high detail can get in the way of that) but don't expect the graphics to wow you. Also, this game runs on a 2D engine, rather than the 3D engine that more recent games are using.

Secondly is that I wasn't incredibly impressed by the campaigns. They tend to get a little repetitive, so most of the time I find myself just playing a custom game.

Another similar game I might recommend instead of this one would be Starcraft. The graphics are slightly better, and the game is just as interesting. Then of course there is Warcraft III out now, which has a 3D engine and a couple of additional races besides human and orc. Aside from the things I mentioned, this game really is very good. I've been playing it for years and haven't gotten tired of it yet!

Summary: Great game, but avoid BattleNet
Review: I have been playing Warcraft II for many, many years, and absolutely love it. I finally decided to pick up the BattleNet addition of the game so I could play online against people from around the world. What a terrible mistake that was...

Unfortunately, BattleNet is nothing more than a haven for depraved, foul mouthed adolescents hell bend on making your online experience as miserable as possible. The unrelenting flood of obscenities, personal attacks, and graphic content, makes the game completely inappropriate for younger players, and intolerable for older ones. You don't even have to be playing a game to be accosted, it starts immediately in the main page chat window, as soon as you connect to the service.

This really is a shame, because this is such a great game, and a relatively small group of people have completely ruined it for everyone. There seem to be far fewer troublemakers on the games that charge a monthly fee, so hopefully Blizzard's new venture into online gaming, coming soon, I hope, will be better.

Despite being a great game, I cannot recommend this version....

Summary: WarCraft 2 kicks ...
Review: I have a lot of old strategy games, such as starcraft, total annihalation, aoe 2, and I have frequently played AOE 1. I have to say that, this game might seem a little cartoony, or really cartoony at first, but later, you will figure out that it's a really great strategy game. Drawbacks are that, 1. it may seem cartoony. 2. there are only two diferent races. and 3. it may seem to have horrible graphics, because it is an old game.
All in all it is a great, old strategy game, thus recieveing four stars.
