Summary: Carpal tunnel Commander
Review: This game is tremendous long-term fun and enjoyment! Both its simplicity and depth draws you in. Tactics and strategy are paramount. SimCity infrastructure and systematic, medium to long-range planning is necessary for building units and other machines. However, this doesn't do squat for you if you don't have the close-in combat tactics - and the finer understanding which land, air, sea unit (or combination) will get you results. The 3rd-person point-of-view is best when commanding hundreds of units and war-making capabilities.

The graphics and sound score is killer. You've got to watch some of the explosions - they are cool! You can't get this type of super incendiary stuff from WarCraft. Add on units, maps, and scenarios are readily available on the Cavedog site.

I've played 3vs1, 2vs2, and 1vs1 on various networks (from NY, OH, and CA combatants) and had no major problems. This people versus people completely changes your strategy and tactics - making the game that much more high-value. My only minor peave is that you need more than the standard 10 quick-team assignments for those intense campaigns.

Regardless, I've been playing for 1+ years - and still love it.

Summary: Command and Conquer it isn't
Review: This game was made in the command and conquer style. Unfortunately it is overly simplistic. All of the maps are the same size so it is quite easy to determine where your enemy base is located(usually exactly opposite you). The graphics are cool and the gameplay is easy but there is no real plot and the map size really bring it down. The gradations on the map are great though.

Summary: 5 stars is not enough
Review: This is *easily* my all time favorite multiplayer realtime strategy game; it's much much better than star craft and others like it. When you add the Core Contingency expansion pack, you have tons of units to use and can come up with an unlimited number of interesting stategies. Every time I play other humans on cavedog's Boneyards, I'm suprised by something new. I will never tire of this game.

(Oh yeah, works great on my windows 98 system; nevermind that post below. None of my friends have had trouble either. But you will want more than 32 MB of memory and a processor faster than a Pentium 233 MMX (but it's survivable if that's all you have).)

Summary: don't get it if you have windows 98 or 2000
Review: This is an awesome game if you have windows 95. I got the game when it first came out and it was the best in my collection. But after i upgraded to windows 98 it didn't run anymore. :(

Summary: May have been an ok game for then, but doesnt compare now
Review: Total Annihilation is not that great. Sure there are millions of men your army can consist of, but many are very weak and useless. There is really no depth to the game, its just one of those games where whoever can build the best man first wins no contest. Compared to games of today like Starcraft and Homeworld this game stands no chance. I think I was being very generous giving it 2 stars. I wouldnt waste my money.

Summary: The best game
Review: Total Annihilation is the best game I have ever played. My friend let me use it over the summer break and I thought it was awesome. I would give the graphics a 10 in rating the terrain a 10 also. The sound makes you feel like you're in the middle of battle and you never run out of places to play. So far the only game that's close to it is Mechwarior2. Battle Master ,Alex

P.S. I would definately give it a 5 star rating.

Summary: The coolest game ever
Review: Total Annihilation was a pioneer in stradegy gaming. It was one of the first games to utilize a 3d terrain. I love this game so much. Both The Core Contingency and Battle Tactics are a must have.
