Summary: good but flawed
Review: dont get me wrong this is a very good game but it does contain a few bad points, i wont bother mentioning the good points cos youll have heard them all before.the graphics are good but not upto todays high standards and the fact that the game renders such hugfe areas at a time leads to somr massive loading times this is the games main (read only) problem, the loading toimes just dont fit with the gameplay with a game where the selling point is a real battlefield where one shot can be the end this is frequently it. you can be just staring the level when you are sniped or grenaded and thats it. it would be ok if you could just restart and get bacjk to it but witht he loading times its 10 mins before youre back out there. i suppose this heightens the tension, knowing that one hit and youre back to square one but it gets annoying after a while and really hampers the experience. all in all if youve gotr a really really fast pc then this shouldnt be much of a problem but this is a fairly major gripe with the game that yopu should take into account before buying

Review: Well, first off, this game can be found in stores in America, since Electronics Boutique will regularly order from England to stock thier shelves, so on that account, I bought the full version last week from Electronics Boutique in my local mall right here in Ohio. It comes in a DVD style case. As for the game, I have an AMD Atlon 1.4Ghz with 512M DDR ram, and a GeForce2 GTS w/64M DDR ram, and it runs flawlessly. I even went into the mission editor, created a battle with over a dozen helo's, over 50 tanks on both sides, and probably the same amount in infantry, even threw in an A-10 and some civilian cannon fodder, and no flaws. Sounds are great. Graphics are superb, and considering this is the benchmark test for my newly self-built computer, it proved itself worthy. My favorite part is the sound, believe it or not! Hiding in a mesh of bushes, and hearing the creaking and clanking of an approaching tank, is reminisent of a scene out of Saving Private Ryan. Bullits whiz by, explosions in the distant, helocopters whirling by, men screaming over the radio. It's a great war sim! Best part, however, is the mission editor. The campaign game can be extremely difficult, and no cheats are available as of yet. The difficulty can make you want to just give up, especially if you don't have the time to play for hours and hours. The mission editor makes up for that. You can create your own unique battles. Problem is, the manual is worthless! ... the manual couldn't even do that for me. Most of the instructions or help for the editor can be found on the web written by other gamers, not by the game makers, they seem to have wrote a program, and left it up to us to figure it out. One thing to look out for is the mod's. Look out in the future for this game to have a Vietnam mod, a D-Day mod, a Great War mod, and so on. Seems a lot will come out of this game engine, so I highly recommend it to any war/history buff.

Summary: Operation Excitment
Review: I installed the demo of Operation Flashpoint on my new Athlon 1.2Ghz machine with 256 RAM and a GeForce2 video card (64mg). I was playing everything maxed out at 1024x768-32. I was impressed with the game write from the start. The graphics reminded me of the Rainbow Six series. The first thing I noticed was the realtime shawdow effecs. Shadows of the player and ANYTHING 3D get longer as the sun sets. The overall realism in this game was stunning. You can drive virtually anything in the game. When soldiers stand waiting some may light a smoke and just fidget around. I even noticed the faces are "true" 3D. Not just a ball with a digitized face glued on. The eyes even blink! That much more strange when killing someone. It really feels like there alive. I couldn't stop playing this single mission game. It was different everytime. I had fun searching bodies of alied and axis looking for diffrent weapons. You can pick up anything a dead soldier is carrying and use it as your own. I replyed the mission trying different weapons like rocket launchers and full on machine guns as well as AK-47's from dead enemy soldiers and driving abandond enemy trucks around the country side. This may very well get the "Game of the Year" award in my book.

Summary: Not quite the ultimate
Review: This isn't out in the US yet, but that doesn't affect me because I live in England. What's the game like? Imagine 'Hidden and Dangerous' with fewer bugs, the open-air combat of 'Delta Force', the attention to detail of 'Rainbow Six', and you have 'Operation Flashpoint'. It looks stunning - at night, you can see the lights of traffic from half a mile away - and it plays differently to any other combat sim you've ever played. For a start, you can't fire on the move if you're carrying a hefty rifle, so you have to take cover. And when the enemy spot you, they shoot at you, and if they hit you, you are dead. So you have to keep moving from cover to cover. This isn't like 'Delta Force', where you can stand on a hill and snipe everybody to death - in 'Operation Flashpoint', if the enemy see you, they'll kill you. And they do, quite frequently. You can save the game once. It's rock hard, needless to say, and I like that. The open-endedness is the other selling point. If you have to blow up some enemy tanks, you can plant bombs, use a rocket launcher, or steal a tank and blaze away with the main gun; and once you've done that, you can escape by foot, or you can steal a truck. It's a bit like the old game 'Midwinter', but bigger and better. Downsides? There are some bugs that crash the game, and it's not much fun unless you have a fast PC. The manual is dreadful - it tells you the barest minimum, but not, for example, how to accurately throw hand grenades - and there isn't much of a tutorial. Unless you're a veteran of 'Rainbox Six' you'll spend a lot of time walking forwards, looking left and right and - rat-tat-tat - dying. In summary, it's a good-looking, hectic combat sim which takes realism (i.e. difficulty) to new levels. It's miles better than the competition - the 'Delta Force' games look childish in comparison, whilst 'Rogue Spear' just seems ugly and small-scale - although there's a sense that it's close to perfection, but not quite there. Some of the AI is odd - enemy BMPs, in particular, spend a lot of time spinning around in circles, whilst there are a few bugs (if you save a game it throws the timing of a mission out of whack, and it's a bit "unforgiving" with regards to swap space). But you'll be playing it for weeks.

Review: As a Serving Royal Marine Commando (the REAL MARINES!) with a lot of spare time on my hands (don't tell the queen!) shoot em ups are usually a bit tame,, until now that is! Op Flashpoint breaks the mould infact it shatters it into tiny fragments because this game is definitely the most realistic game ever produced, some one at codemasters has inside info that would get them a job in MI5 or the CIA. This is a TOUGH GAME for a beginner, because there is so much to learn and so much you can do, you can manipulate just about any thing that moves, In fact I have had to draw on years of experience to win the fire fight every time you contact the enemy!. The storey line is very well thought out and totally fluid. You will be totally amazed by the level of thought gone into this sim, If you only ever buy one game in your life you better make sure its this one !! ...

Review: Ok get this game if you want an online gaming experience. It is the best, you can keep your unreal tournament, q3 and half life (all great games and games ive spent hours/weeks/months playing). This game rules! If you liked deathmatch games then operation flashpoint might not be for you, if you liked team games then get this now. As a single player game it beats hidden and dangerous, delta force 3 and igi hands down. The real fun starts when you play online though. You cant run around shooting everything that moves, you have to work as team. This is without a doubt the strongest online team game ever to grace the pc. Work together and you can win, wander around by yourself trying to pick off anything that moves and you dont stand a chance.
