Summary: Very great Game
Review: My whole life, or at least the past 5 years i have searched the earth for this exact kind of game. Where elsa can you play with and against 10,000 other REAL people in an online persistant environment. This isnt just a WWII infantry SIM, or a WWII Tank sim, or WWII Flight sim, but ALL mixed into one. This summer when i had the time i found myself playing 10 hours a day, SERIOUSLY. It is simply incomprehensible the greatness of this game.

Havign been a FPS fan my whole life, I planned on playing Infantry....but soon started to drive tanks also. One night i decieded to fly. I was BLOWN AWAY. It was the best time of my life. I preceded to join what is called a "squad", or a squadren. This was a skilled group of individuals who flew theie aircraft historically, and professionally. We talked to eachother with voice-over-net programs and it was just like really being there. You had a wing man, flew in real formations, escorted bombers, and engaged in heart pounding hair raising dog fights.

Words cannot describe my love for this game...

Summary: Worst game I have ever played, No lie!
Review: I have been playing games since the late 70's and have played thousands of games. I have played Ultima online, Everquest, Diablo 1 and 2 for online games. WWIIOL is horrible! Do not buy! The game has a 70 MB download before you can even play the game and YOU will crash to desktop all the time with the thousands of bugs it still has. I have a P3 667 with 512 MB Ram, Geforce 3 64 MB Ram, Cable modem, SCSI everything and it still runs like crap.
Spend your money on something good.

Summary: With this Game, You are part of the development process!
Review: Some people think that's a bad thing, but I don't. Most games are done when you buy them, and if you don't like something, or something isn't working, well, that's too bad. With WWII Online, customer input is a key element of the development process, and in fact, is a determiner of many of the development team's efforts.

I bought this game in early July, and since that time, it's become much more stable, and has improved in a number of ways beyond counting.

Yes, you will need to add more RAM to your PC, but that's not a bad thing, and it will contribute much to your machine's performance when handling many other games and programs. For not much more than ... you can upgrade from 128K to 512K, giving you good performance in this game. Hey, I'm only at 384K and it runs at a sufficient level for me to handle all but flying aircraft, and that's on a PIII 450!

If you always wanted to know what being in WWII was like, right now this game can give you a glimmer of that, and for ... down and ... a month, that's not too shabby.

Review: i suggest you browse the ww2 online website forums before you buy this game it will give you some ideal of the current state of the game and the problems that are occuring at the present time.they do seem to be patching regulary and problems do exist.the game is not playable out of the box.expect massive downloads to get online the first patch is 80 mb.as a player from day one i have seen many changes some for the better some not. the frame rates are a issue .the min system specs are out right bogus .player services support are a out right joke.basicly the game was shipped in a unfinished condition but they are adding the bits and pieces trying to get the game to a point where the subsciption to play online can be enacted .the flight model is not to my taste .i have a 1.2 t-bird amd with 512 ram on a 56k modem and 12 frames in the air is the best i get.to obtain rank you must make a kill in a very limited area the run back to where you started and despawn.the game really was quite fun before this was impemented .ground frame rates are much better on the ground than in the air.they added a naval river patrol boat and it is quite fun anlong with the heavy fire power it packs make it a formable weapon .the game does have promise and if it survives could turn out to be the game of the decade but right now it still just stinks .expect frequant crash to desktops there is no escape from the game if it locks up you must reset the computer .the average age of the community is around 25-35 but 40 -60 is very common .the game has given me many hours of excitement and enjoyment since purchase but it is constantly changing the instruction manual that comes with the cd doesnt even match the keyboard movements of the infantry men now.pay to play starts 11-22 and i doubt that i will subscibe at this time but will wait and watch the forum boards for more improvments to game play and the addition of the capital navy.again you will need a super computer to play this game but dont expect great graphics.the graphics are acuratly represented on the screen shots. the sounds arent bad though.other theaters of operations must be purchased as add-ons now it is currently the blitzkrieg theater.i hate to say it becuase i have had alot of fun in the game but the only games i have ever purchased worse than this are dos games that i could not run on a win 98 platform.

Summary: One of the best ideas for a MMORPG
Review: First, some GOOD things:

1) Absolutely no NPCs.. "quests" (which are in actuality missions) are 100% different everytime. Why? Because a REAL person is ALWAYS behind it.

2) The ability to play as infantry, a pilot, driver or captain of a ship.

3) The innovation of an MMORPG that is a REAL TIME FIRST PERSON STRATEGY/SHOOTER in a PERSISTANT WORLD. Folks this is like a HUGE MMORPG version of games like half-life's internet play.

4) The detail and accuracy is some of the best!

Unfortunately, there are several problems with this game:

1) Bugs. What can i say about them? They are all over (tho not as bad as it was, and it's getting better)

2) I may be wrong, but it seems that while I've played it I have had the option to play either the Axis or Allies... basically, you can play either side (????? or am i just special?) This would reduce a LOT of strategy if it were true.

3) Enormous load times and very slow FPS for even a minimum requirement met for the game.

4) Each strategic location only allows you to enter with certain units, and if you want to be infantry you may have to run a LONG way to find a battle unless there is a battle currently in a zone where infantry can enter thru the enter screen. You might be lucky and catch a ride from a driver though... which should be on the PLUS side.

Either way you look at it, this game is a BRILLIANT concept that is still beautiful despite it's problems, and any World War II fans should LOVE and BUY this game.

Summary: Massive improvements
Review: This game rocks now and the FPS probs have been resolved! I now get up to 80 FPS as infantry in battle and flying is much smoother.

New weapons and vehicles have been introduced and the awkward infantry controls have been reworked!

Fantastic and truly immersive PvP. Not for avid "have a quick go counterstrike players" though. This game takes effort and time but is infinitely more rewarding than a standard FPS.

Summary: Good getting better
Review: Durring the early stages of the release of this game the game did not work very well. There were alot of features not yet added and a few annoying bugs. Well that is definately the past. With a very aggresive development staff and updates comming out all the time this game has become one of the funnest I have ever played. I truely recommend this to any gamer/military/historical addict.

Summary: World War 2 Buff? This is a Time Machine..
Review: The game did have a bad launch, but it is updated often, and the last patch is UNREAL. Imagine if you will. You spawn as infantry and hop aboard an Opel. The truck is full and other Opels are loading up. There are Halftracks pulling 88's and Paks you're in a real convoy. As you near the battle there are tanks flanking the enemy city on multiple sides. There are Stuka's bombing the enemy from the sky. The air is controlled by your 109's. In the river your boats are moving in with troops. All this and every one of them is controled by another person. You can drive a tank and your friend can operate the main gun. You fly the plane and your buddy's the tail gunner, or how about the Bombadeer? Visit the game's web page and look at some of the screen shots and videos. This game ROCKS!

Summary: Best MMOG available
Review: This game got off to a really slow start. I think everyone accepts that it shipped as a beta. However, CRS has moved forward and has addressed most of the issues that made this game frustrating for the first few months. It is presently a blast to play, and I highly recommend the game to those who are interested in the best online WWII simulation on the market and the funnest online game available.

A quick summary of what is available in the game. Currently the game models the battle of france (1940). You can play as french, british or german. The entire theater of operation is modeled on the ground. I.e., you can get in a truck and drive across france (This will take many hours). There are multiple aircraft, armour (tanks), anti-tank, truck, infantry and naval platforms available to crew. Some can be multi-crewed (i.e one player drives the tank, another shoots the gun). The intent is to slowly expand the game into other theaters of operation, such as the east front (USSR), pacific, north africa, stc.

There are a few caveats:

1) You must have at least 256MB of ram. Other than this, the recommnded system works well (except for flying aircraft, they seem to need more resources than the base system).
2) You must have a 56K or better internet connection. I.e. your dialup line must actually give you a 50K or better connection speed. Broadband is better.
3) You must be prepared to play for 30 minutes or more to have fun (more is much better). This is not like quake where you drop in for five minutes of fun.
4) Be prepared to download about 120MB of patches before you can play (ouch).
5) The learning curve is a little steep b/c the manual is poor.
6) THIS GAME IS NOT QUAKE. DO NOT EXPECT QUAKE WITH TANKS AND PLANES!

Overall, the game is not perfect, but at the rate it is going it will be a five-star game in a few months. It will be a six-star game in a year if it keeps going at the current rate.

Summary: WW II Online Slideshow
Review: I can't recommend this game to anyone. Why? Poor framerate and hellish lag on anything but a VERY well specced PC. (1Ghz Ath, Cable Modem, 512MB ram minimum) Patience is required as you'll need a hefty 80MB of patches.

I gotta admit its a great concept but poorly executed. Check out Operation Flashpoint instead!
