Rating: Summary: Online WARFRONT Review: World War 2 On-Line: Blitzkrieg is an intense game full of great features and a strong sense of reality. One thing that a lot of people don't get is that the war really can go either ways. The battle is mapped and the game starts. One game can go for years (of course you can come and go as you please but the game never stops). When you leave there are still thousands on each side in infantry, tanks, anti-air, anti-tank, fighter planes, and bombers. Imagine you are I an invasion force to help conquer Berlin you dive in, crawl over, and see it, two tanks sitting. The tanks don't seem to see you so you run over plant a bomb right on the cockpit. When he figures out what just happened it is to late. Disturbed by the explosion the second tank look desperately around not knowing that you are right there next to him in a bush. You leap out chuck one on the second tank and the bomb goes off. Thanks to you the others can storm the base and you have taken BERLIN! This game will give you many of these high intensity situations. In the ever-changing WWII universe of Blitzkrieg there is no end to the action.Quick Rundown of Pros/Cons Cons Occasional lag Difficult set up for PC users Requires joystick for most things aside from Infantry Pros Game play 5 Star Fun Great idea Low requirements High level of action despite being a massively multiplayer game most of witch can have extended times of nothing happening. Rating: Summary: Incredible Role Playing Experience and Simulation Review: I think someone needs to step in and write a review worth reading - The date is 5/10/03 - which is important due to updates of the game (which auto update by the way when you start the game) - ALL games continuously need updating, so that is fine, and the updates are very often new weapons, better textures, better explosions, things of that sort. You need to understand what this game IS, and what the game is NOT - it IS a virtual battlefield, with over 100 cities, you can literally drive or fly IN game to any city you want, fly right over ongoing battles (all moving objects are REAL human players), etc.. its a massive battlefield, yet the structure of the game makes it rather easy to get to battle. You MUST expect to play at least 2 - 3 hours per session on this game, but you will probably want to play more when you find out how entreanching this game is. This game is NOT a quick first person shooter, its almost overly realistic, the planes are even someone hard to fly, you literally feel like you are flying a somewhat un-refined plane built in 1940. There are 2 ways to play, either defend or attack, if you are attacking, you would start from a Front Base and take transport into the city (transport is even driven by actual human player), you use in game chat (only seen by your side) to communicate with your squads and attacking front, then you move into the city and play a "capture the flag" type of game, moving tanks in to cover the infantry, air suppurt, etc.. and there are LOTS of players, i've literally seen air battles of 15-20 planes overhead cities with over 75 players with tanks and infantry, the cities aren't oversized either, so you can get battle, but still get the realism. This game again, is heavy simulation, the graphics are actually very good now, so don't let that hold you back, and its not difficult what-so-ever to climb the ranks and get all the new weapons, 1 or 2 nights and you can have access to everything. WWII Online has excellent support, almost weekly updates with new things, and LOTS of players fighting it out even at 4am, its incredible and highly recommended if you are looking to remove yourself from the current world you are in for at LEAST 3 hours. I hoped this helped and answered some of the "negative" comments which really hold no merit, as they are referring to the game which existed a while back, MUCH has changed now. ---- look for me in game when you join up and i'll help you out - Turbo24 of the 26th Panzer Division (Axis)
Rating: Summary: MULTIPLAYER MADNESS Review: World War 2 On-Line: Blitzkrieg is game filled with the intensety of the World War II battle field and chaleges anyone who trys to make thier steps into a war where death is a common visator. The game seams [not cool] at first but with about 15min to 30min you are lovin every second of it. World War 2 On-Line: Blitzkrieg alows your to combat in figher planes, Bombers, Tanks, Antiair, Antitank, ships, and Infanty (whitch i think is the most fun.) All combat is etirly online and is complete with the easy login and sign up. The game is not just any online game, this game is masivly multyplayer. In a massivly multiplayer game the game never ends and the war between the allies and the axis forces contiues on and can be won by eather side. (Have to go to class, editing compleation, and spellcheck will be done later today)
Rating: Summary: It rox! Review: I've been with WWII Online since it first came out. I took a break for a year, since the game wasn't really finished when it came out. But now I've been back for 4 months, and I /love/ it! The amount of depth, realism and downright heart-throbbing action is unsurpassed! I kid you not, my palms are sweaty when I fly around, and no other game is able to get me this riveted. It's damage model is better than anything else out there, it's realism is unsurpassed, and it is continously under development, so it'll only get better and better. Someone said you had to wait up to 3 hours for a tank or a plane.. What kind of BS is that?? To whomever wrote that review; Some games take more than 5 minutes to learn. If you're a gamer that want instant action and gratification, go for something else. But if you're a gamer who's willing to sacrifice a little time and effort to gain skill and knowledge.. There is /nothing/ better out there! Cheers
Rating: Summary: Great Game, but not for people with ADD Review: First off, I am not a 16 year old computer geek that hasn't seen the light of day for 6 years. I rarely play computer games. In the past I have tried them, but after a few weeks I don't touch them again...franky they bore me. I tried WWIIonline upon the recommedation of two colleagues. I love it. I know nothing about graphic, programing, etc....I love it because its fun and has kept my attention for nearly one year now. This is why. Its not a shoot'em up game like so many others. Played with a group of other player (ie a squad) from all around the world makes this game more like chess. Planning, stratagy and patience pays off. Most people don't like this games because of the patience it requires and the time to set up an appropriate and effective attack. Its not for everyone, but it definately has its spot in the market. Buy it, chat and play with people from all around the world. Join a squad. And most of all remember, you only get out of it what you put into it. (Like every thing else worth having in life.)
Rating: Summary: Game gets better and better Review: What many of these reviews don't tell you is that WWIIOnline is an evolving game. The developers are constantly releasing patches with new vehicles/airplanes/ships, enhanced infantry capabilities, supply systems, towns, visual/sound effects, etc. The game's release in June of 2001 was a bomb. Things didn't work as promised. However, the game has recovered and it's getting better and better. I love this game. I have been playing since August of 2001 and I have NEVER played a game for this long. In fact, the developer's plans will have me hooked for a very long time. In summary, I've been playing WWIIOnline for 18 months now and it's still THE GAME for me.
Rating: Summary: Oh Please Review: This game had promise but now due to certain changes, it is no longer something for the casual gamer to enjoy. Unless you have 3-6+ hours to play, don't bother. It takes that long to usually complete a few missions and that's if you're lucky. The only way to get any action is to play as a rifleman which basically means you're nothing but cannon fodder for any tank you might encounter. If you want to drive tanks or fly aircraft, find another game. WWII Online makes you wait up to 3 hours before you can get one.
Rating: Summary: A Great WWII Sim Review: I have been playing this game for over a year now. It had a problematic release June, 2001, but since I have been playing it has improved greatly. The current version is 1.76, the game producers have been upgrading and adding new features, new towns, at a pretty good clip, about once a month. The infantry is about to get a overhaul in v1.8, new animations and textures. A 1941 vechicle set is about to be released soon also. There is a large supply of different Tanks, Bombers, Fighters, Infantry, Anti-Tank, Anti-Air, Transport vechicles, and Armored Cars. It is just amazing that I am playing with 1000's of people from all over the world at the same time in a half-scaled Europe. And it still is the best computer game I have played. Most games keep my interest for about 3 weeks. Not This one. Check It out.<...
Rating: Summary: Great Game and getting better Review: Sure it had a rough start but the guys at Cornered Rat Software have been working their butts off to save this game. I have been playing it for about a month and am delighted to say that it runs well on my computer (unless in the air) under reasonable detail and resolutions and I am under the reccomended steps. Despite Its bad begginning this game is exactly the kind of Virtual Battlefield that was marketed before. PLus they are also adding more and more to it every patch which come almost every month.
Rating: Summary: great game Review: WWII Online is a great WWII sim. It's not the active running around Quake fest that BF1942 is, which is an unbelievable unrealistic game. It's a MMOFPS. Which stands for massively multiplayer online first person shooter. The world exists even when you log out and go to bed. Log in the next day and see the progress your side has made. In BF1942 when everybody logs out, the very small part of the world you were playing in vanishes and you start over from scratch when you play again. WWII Online does have poor graphics by today's standards, but due to that it will run on lower end machines. I have run it on a few different computers since release and it has always run very well with no lag at all. That said, this game is a sim. You may log in and not be right in the action. The action may be miles away. You get organzied with your teammates, setup a strategy and move out to your target. It's not an easy game, it takes time and patience. But it can be a very rewarding and fullfilling experience. The game takes place in Europe which has been recreated in 1/2 scale, so the world is massive. And all vehicles, aircraft and ships are recreated very accuratly. The flight sim is one of the most realistic ones available. So if your looking for a realistic WWII sim then this is the game for you.
