Summary: A Great Game....In a few months
Review: This is truly going to be the game you love to hate. First off the reports are ture, there are some major problems with the game. I have a AMD 650/ 352megs Ram 32megs video card...and a Dsl Connection. If you have anything less then this I would forget it. I can play fairly well. A lot of the features used to promote the game arn't even in the game yet. That being said, the game is a hoot. I play for hours, even with all the problems. My advice is to wait a few months to get it, and forget what the specs say on the side of the box..you need a powerful system to play this one.

Summary: Read this before buying
Review: I recently bought the game... I should tell you to keep your money and use it for a game like HL-Couter Strike which defenetly is better than WW2 online. If you buy WW2 online, you will notice that you need a "super system" of computer. You need A LOT of RAM memory in order to get a decent movement in the game. The graphics are just terrible, is not easy to get connected and the game play is horrible. Don't buy this.

Summary: Too bad they didn't finish the game...
Review: Great concept, terrible execution. This game could have been great: huge battlefields, combined armed forces, realistic combat... but the game just won't run. Terrible, terrible bugs keep it from running. Can't connect. Servers down. Yuck.

Do buy this game, but only AFTER the developers finish it--which could be anywhere from 1 to 6 months from now (June 18 2001).

Too bad Strategy First started selling this game aroun June 10.

Summary: Please Wait for This One
Review: First of all, the many reviews posted about WWII Online are very real! See, I am stupid, on Thursday night, I spent a couple of hours reading customer reviews on the game both here and on the game's site. All I read were horror stories about the SEVEN servers, and how it was near impossible to get any serious playtime without being disconnected. So what did I do? I went out and bought the game yesterday. I exceed the minimum requirements for the game (1.1 gig Athlon, 256 RAM, 64 MB video card, and (this is what makes me laugh) a 56k modem). Please listen to me on this! If you have a 56K Modem, please do not buy this game. After installing the game, I came to the harsh realization that I need to upgrade to a Cable/DSL hookup, and this had just become a very expensive game. First of all, you need to find a server that will actually connect you. This process took me about 10-12 minutes. When I finally got connected, an incredible feeling of joy passed through my body, because it was time to play. That lasted about 1-2 seconds. This is when you are forced to download a 70MB upgrade. That took me 6 hours!! Remarkably the file actually downloaded, and my worthless 56k modem didn't crash, and again, I felt so happy because it was time for some hard-hitting D-Day action. That lasted for about 4-5 seconds. I spawned somewhere in the middle of nowhere (I was a French foot soldier) and I didn't see a single other person (this was at 1:30 a.m PST). The gameplay was a little laggy at first, but I suppose that at the games peak it was tolerbale at best. I was able to play for about 5 minutes, and then...I was disconnected from the host.

This game has some remarkable potential, and I am kicking myself for buying it, when I knew that it was filled with problems. Don't make the same mistake I made. I predict in a month, or two,

Summary: The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth........
Review: I picked up this game 4 days after it came out. Took it home installed it, registered for an account and tried to play. "Can not connect to server" I looked harder to find there is already an almost 70 meg patch for me to sit and download. I must admit, I was shocked to find such a large patch for a game that had been released 4 days before. I download it, install it and try to play...."can not connect to server". At this point I jump on the forums and I find out that the servers don't work, nor have they ever worked for most. I wait 3 more days to play this game. Finally, after to many problems to put here I got connected to the server! No joke, I sat at the loading screen for almost 15 mins before the game started. This happened everytime I loaded it. They claim it's due to memory but I have 512megs of ram. My FPS (frames per second) were about 3 or 4 when they should had been 50 to 100. Do you have any idea how hard it is to play a MMORPG with those frames? I didn't pay bucks on a vid card for this! So, now I've been sitting around waiting for a 2 meg patch they have been claiming will fix all of our problems. The patch came out today and nothing was fixed as far as I can tell. This game is NOT FINISHED! IT DOES_NOT INCLUDE ALL THINGS LISTED ON THE BOX. I read somewhere the company making this game is new. This would be their first game and they have been working on it for about 2 years. I read on their forums that they ran out of money and needed to start selling the game in order to make money to finish it. IT DOES NOT SAY THIS ON THE BOX! They did however stop the clock on the 30-day trial. If you buy this game you are spending money to be a beta tester and that just isn't right. Wait till it gets fixed and is playable, say around 2003.

Oh, I almost forgot. As customers we have been trying to get answers from CRS/PlayNet about whats going on with this game. The only real way to contact them (and get an answer) is to use the forums. Get this, they started deleting any post they didn't agree with. We are paying customers and they delete our requests for help and answers right in front of our eyes. BUYER BEWARE!

Summary: BE PATIENT
Review: All of you that gave it 0 stars are fools. Download the patch, and if you go to wwiionline.com, it tells you how to increase the games performance. It is a very fun game, i have never gotten kicked out of a game, I am always allowed in a game, overall, a great game.

Summary: Full of Bugs -- Forget it
Review: Nothing but bugs. It did not work at all in one of my computers, crashes constantly on another. Tech support? Forget it... There is no way to reach them by telephone -- only email. I sent them a support request and have not gotten a response 24hrs later. It takes a very long time to even load. The game is laggy and slow. I recomend waiting until (and if) the bugs get fixed.

Summary: Doomed to fail
Review: First of all I must inform you that in order to play this game online you must download a 70MB 'patch' file. That is just far too large of a download for those of us stuck with a dial up connection. If you have a high speed connection 70 Megs isn't that big of a deal though.

Ok - on to the game then. I am running a P3 500 which is well within the system requirements. I also have a 32MB video card. The offline practice mode takes no less than 3 minutes to load up. Unacceptable. In trying to map the controls I found that the game would not allow me to program my joystick. Unacceptable. As a ground troop my gun would not fire. In flight the sound would cut out intermittantly (and no I wasn't blacking or redding out). The graphics are horrible and low tech in comparison to other recent games. The interface is slow and clunky. I could go on but you get the point (I hope).

Wait until this game has time to mature into a proper peice of software - this release is nothing more than an incomplete beta version. Which is a shame because most beta software is free, while this cost me 40 bucks.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not quite there yet
Review: This game has serious problems with playability. The dissappointing thing is, while playing the offline mode you can see the potential of the game. The biggest complaint is the slow frame rate and incredible lag which, for most users, makes the game unplayable. I would recommend waiting to buy this game for a few months until the kinks are worked out. I feel it was released too early, but hopefully the game will improve.
