Summary: Blue Shift - too short
Review: this is an excellent return to the Halflife experience but it was too easy and too short. For the price I expected more. Same weapons , nothing new. You might try day of defeat for free and you would get more for your money. TWM

Summary: OK Adiition to Half-Life
Review: I played this a couple days ago at a friend's house. It's the only Half-Life I don't own, so I wanted to see what it was like.
Blue Shift is a good enough game, as are all the HL's, but I did have a few problems with it:
1) No new weapons?
2) Kinda Short
3) The price- thirty bucks is pretty steep for such a short expansion. I would like to buy a copy of this, but I'll wait for the cost to come down, or pick it up used somewhere.
If this game were ten or fifteen dollars cheaper, I would have given in 5 stars.

Summary: Too Short
Review: What a disapointment. This game was too short. I figure maybe six hours of game play with it set on the the easiest setting. The scenery and characters were predictable, with no new additions or strange twists. Wasn't worth the money.

Summary: Blue Shift- A downward spiral in the Half-Life series
Review: It seems to me that each Half Life add on is getting worse and worse. I didn't particuarly like Opposing Force but at least it was playable. Blue Shift, on the other hand, is a complete nosedive for the Half Life series. First of all, the game is way too short. I bought this game two days ago and already I'm through with it. To make matters worse, Blue Shift brings NOTHING new to the Half Life series. This is not an overstatement. There are absolutley no new weapons or enemies. You actually get less weapons and fight less enemies than in any other Half Life. There's not even an end boss to fight. Most of the game is devoted to solving puzzles, not blasting away at enemies. At least with Opposing Force they added on some new enemies, new weapons, and a new end boss. It just seemed like the makers of this game just didn't care about making a quality product. It was like someone said "We need money and we need it fast. How about making another Half Life add-on?". Already I'm making plans to sell this game on e-bay. At least then I can recoup some of the money I lost.

Summary: The Low of HL
Review: The good: The game was just like predescessors Half-Life and Opposing Force - it combined all the greatness of the aliens and military, and made it extra creepy and stuffed with edge of your seat action, not to mention the extra very intruiging puzzles crammed in this game. Oh yeah, it's also got waaaaayyyyyy better graphics.

The Bad: Short short short short short - way too short. It took me 3 days to beat it on medium difficulty. And the end (where most Half-Life's come out and shine with a great plot ending) was a serious let down.

The Ugly: Maybe I hinted above, but the game really doesn't have THAT much of a plot. It's pretty much "find buddies" "help em get the hell outta here" while at the same time "blowin enemies up one side and down the other"

But it is still a good game, the perspective and story from the Security gaurd's perspective (or Soldier, for OpFor) is always a nice touch.

Summary: Buy for HD pack not for Game Play
Review: When you buy this make sure you are doing it to inhance and update the original or Opposing because this game is extremely short, and for a gamer like me it takes an easy 2 hours to beat. The HD pack is awesome, introducing new model weapons and texture inhancement. I enjoyed being barney but it was a short ride and now the game is in its spot on the CD stand collecting dust. Although after i put the HD pack on I found myself playing the original again, which also hasn't been played for several months maybe even a year. I guess what im saying is that it will respark interest in the original.

Summary: Blue Shift, Beware or Be Square
Review: I got Blue Shift primarily because I did not have Opposing Force. I was originally planning to get OpFor (Opposing Force) since I knew it was just like the caliber of Half-Life. If you dont have OpFor, get it with Blue Shift. Blue Shift was still quite awesome though.

The game's only problem is that it is short. It took me a week to beat the game at hard difficulty. Also, it could be longer if you were not talking to the scientists and running after them so much, but that is a factor that builds the plot.

The graphics really make it outstanding. Facial textures of the characters, new weapon models, improved sounds, added physical effects (you actually see Barney's hands and your arms shake when you fire the assault rifle), and other numerous, small features. Also, the perspective improves the game storyline. Finally, Half-Life is greatly improved ( I am talking about the original episode of the saga where you are Gordon Freeman) by showing added parts of the facility, model improvements, etc.

I would get Blue Shift if you are dedicated to the Half-Life saga. If the Blue Shift game does not attract you to purchase it, the High Definition game upgrade will......

Summary: Lighten Up Folks
Review: ....Just a reminder-it also includes Opposing Forces AND an upgrade to all the Half Life graphics. .... The game itself is not terrific, but not terrible. It's an ADD ON, not a new concept! Buy it for what it is & you'll be happy you did. If you buy it expecting it to be Half Life 2, you'll hate it.

Summary: The best game I have played in my whole life!!!
Review: Half-Life realy is a game that combines the thrill of 3D shooting with the best interactive characters. Gordon Freeman rules, and I think that Lara Croft have much to learn from him.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Get it for the HD Pack
Review: Blue Shift was way too short, and had no real variety of enemies. There were no bosses, no Black Ops, no difficult puzzles to solve, and a lackluster sound track. You might be wondering, why did I give it 3 stars then? Because the HD Pack is worth the money itself, by vastly improving on the models of the enemies and weapons in all official Half Life games. The HD Pack lets you go back and play the old HL games in a new light, it's worth it.
