Summary: Half Life: Blue Shift
Review: I loved Half Life and Opposing Force. I have seen the trailer of Blue Shift. You played a scientist in Half Life, A Commando in Opposing Force and now a security gaurd in Blue Shift. I hope it does not have the same ending as Half Life and Opposing Force, Half life's ending was superb but when Opposing Force had the same climax it was very dissapointing, I hope Blue Shift does not dissapoint us with the same kind of climax.

Finally i have been told that the security gaurd you play in this game has only one weapon as the security gaurds in the black mesa must have only a hand gun according to the orginal game Half Life.

........JUST KIDDING.

Summary: Blue Shift is pretty good
Review: *Sighs.* Here's the same reviews as in the other half-life games. "It doesn't work good with my computer." "The game is to slow." "It's to short!" First of all let me remind all of you that this is an expansion. It's not like it's gona be as long as half-life. It would be nice if it was, but it's not. So live with it! Blue Shift is a add on! It's a game that you can buy if you want to hear a different side of the original game, or if you don't than go look else where. You still get the same action. And when you get less guns, it makes it more intense. Imagine having only a magnum in a group of aliens. People get mad cause you continuisly die in the game. their's a reason why their's a reload button and a save button their people. And Once again I will say that half-life has to run on a good computer. Check the requirements that are needed. It is challanging rather or not anybody wants to admit. Of course not as challanging as half life and opposing force but get over it. Like I said IT'S A EXPANSION PACK!!! LET'S ALL SAY IT TOGETHER "EXPANSION PACK!" it's not gona be long. but for those want to look into the eyes of a security guard in the black mesa, than this is the game for you. And besides the price is good for the game. i'm sad to see it is so cheap now. but it's been out for a long time so i can realize that as time flies by, so do prices. And let's all say it again "IT'S A EXPANSION PACK". it's not gona be as long. *rolls her eyes.*

Summary: A little short...
Review: Blue Shift takes the player back to the Lambda Complex and retells the story of Half-Life through the eyes of one of the security guards in the research facility.
I highly recommend that you play Half-Life and The Opposing force expansion pack before you pick this one up.

Summary: Not worth it unless you don't have OpFor
Review: I bought this game for Blue-Shift, the abbreviation of which is, unfortunately, BS. This is surprisingly useful though, since this game essentially is BS. It seems like it might be cool, being a security guard, right? Being a mall security guard is probably more exciting than this game. it has some interesting sequences, but is is horribly short. Seriously. I took about 3 1/2 hours to beat it on "easy" THE FIRST TIME. No cheats/hints/strategy guide, either. I am not exagerating when I say it's too short. But it comes with OpFor, which PC Gamer put as 2nd runner up for Game of the year at some point. OpFor is much better than Blue Shift, so if you don't have Opfor, take a look. If you do have OpFor, look elsewhere.

Summary: Nice Succinct and Original Mission Pack
Review: Not on the same level as Half-Life (but realistically, what is?) but a worthy entry in the Half-Life universe.

Half-Life was brilliant. It revolutionized the first person shooter, provided hours of entertainment, introduced us to a world of weapons and bizarre creatures, and most importantly- it (unlike most video games) stayed with its plot throughout the game. Then Opposing Force came along- a mission pack that was a game in and of itself, the player now switching sides and playing through the Military (one of the enemies in the original Half-Life). Although less plot-driven than the original (its cheif weakness) it still managed to create a very good gaming atmosphere, even if it didn't quite match up with the first. Then Blue Shift came along.
I (although a huge fan of the first two) was apprehensive; I felt Sierra was trying to capitalize upon the success of the first two and, running out of ideas, was stretching things thin by having the player play as a security guard...Barney Calhoun. I was mistaken- The game is faithful to the first (with none of the weapons from OP4, but most from the original) and adds in some new things....people, locations, plotlines. It was most enjoyable to navigate Barney Calhoun through the waterworks and train depots of the Black Mesa compound, and the ending was significantly different than that of the first two.......I was very impressed by its simplicity and practicality. The game takes everything that was good about the original and compresses it into a smaller package, but also adds several new sights and locations that lend much to the backstory of Half-Life and show even more of the breadth of the Black Mesa compound, things that I appreciated very much.

Although rather short, with no new weapons or aliens, I highly recommend this Mission pack- to the Half-Life devotee or someone new to this family of games. 7/10

Summary: Blue Shift Rules!
Review: Despite what people say, this game is a great value. Opposing Force comes with for free, the HD pack makes everything look better, and the Blue Shift campaign is short and sweet. Buy this game and Half-life and get the best games ever made!
