Summary: It also works in Linux
Review: It might not say it on the box that it supports linux but it does. They thought that it (linux support) might not done before they shipped it, but of course they got it done. I just wanted to let all of you people with desktop linux boxes to know this. Its on the 3rd CD and available for download in the demo form.

Summary: Who/What's Quake ???
Review: The original UT was the most mature FPS when it came out, and UT2003 is the most mature FPS to come out now. It's really that simple.

The feel of this game is truly unreal. With that I mean realism that is unreal, as well as gameplay. Oh yeah, and the graphics and sound rox beyond anything out there at the moment. I think Quake 5 might start catching up with it. ...

Summary: Next generation ownage!
Review: I have been following the development of this game for 6 months and have been playing the demo since it's release. This game will knock your socks off! Sure, people who wanted this to be Unreal Tournament with just some updated graphics and a few favorite gameplay tweaks are going to be disappointed, but for the vast majority of gamers, this game truly represents the next major step in first person shooters. The outdoor levels will take your breath away the first time you see them! And the indoor levels are more intricately detailed than ever. With the new game engine, the polygon count has been radically increased. The result is highly detailed, gorgeous worlds to immerse yourself in. There are some new weapons, but my old favorite, the Rocket Launcher, has come back better than ever. Most exciting is the introduction of a new game called Bombing Run. Basically it is sort of a cross between capture the flag and football. It already has a lot of people really excited about the possibilities since the demo version was released.

In addition, the game will ship with a vast array of tools to enable you to create your own game maps. There is no question, this game will be on my computer for a long time to come!

Summary: They ruined the original.
Review: I'm a diehard fan of the original UT. Played it for a long time and loved it. I was anxiously awaiting the sequel hoping they would not mess it up. Sadly, I was disappointed after playing both the beta and demo versions. Although they are still tweaking things for the retail release, I doubt the gameplay will be changed much. My comments are based on the demo version. The game has taken on a very cartoonish feel. The weapons, powerups, and onscreen text are way too big. The weapons spin at their pickup points like a cheesy Nintendo game. The gamespeed has been cranked up to the point that it feels rediculous. Also new are double jumps and various combinations with dodging. Combine the new moves with adrenaline pills which give you various powers such as speed, berzerk mode, healing, etc. and it really feels like a kiddie console game to me. They ruined the original UT, which had a more serious tone to it. This game could have been so much better. The graphics and death animations are excellent. I can only hope that the modding community and other gaming companies use the engine to create better games.

Summary: Football with Guns
Review: I started playing the demo, I love it. Bombing runs is a mix of football with a touch of basketball, but you get to shoot and kill the opposition.

Review: Download the demo and you will see how good this game is going to be. Can you say game of the year 2003?

Summary: It's gonna be huge!!
Review: I have been playing the demo for a few days now and I am extremely impressed. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is even better, the only problem is that it's going to require a pretty powerful computer. So if you have a good video card and computer there is no reason for you not to own this game. It WILL be a classic. ;)

Summary: No thanks, I'll pass
Review: Just downloaded and played the demo. Gave it a good 4 hours of play time to make sure I gave it a fair shake. Played all the demo maps against bots and on-line (when I could get on-line...still need to work out some server bugs Epic!), and tried, really tried (WANTED) to like this game...but...

Conclusion:

Adds nothing new to the genre, Quake 3 and the original UT are much better games. Very disapointed. :(

Reason:

Take Quake 3 (physics, speed, level design), remove the fun (i.e., "feel" of the game), increase everything that annoyed you about it (like bunny-hopping), add a voice that announces everything that is obvious in the game "you picked up a powerup" but does NOT announce actually important things like "Joe has the ball"; add features that are extremely annoying like the bunny-hop that pretty muched ruined Quake 3 into the game (call it a double-jump), add "combo" moves (ways to make you faster, invisible, harder to kill) that are NOT documented or easy to turn on (so the "elite" gamers will figure out how to do cool moves but novice gamers will just get beat down even more and not really get to use these moves), throw some more useless technology at the levels (like pretty grass...what a joke, just to keep up with the "Jones") that doesn't actually improve or innovate gameplay (Epic, don't you know Id's doing per-pixel lighting now...looks like you're lagging behind...better get cracking!) and there you have Unreal Tournament 2003.

If you're looking for awesome FPS deathmatch or CTF buy Quake 3.

If you're looking for an innovative team FPS experience, buy Battlefield 1942.

If you're really itching to play an Unreal Tournament style game, play the original.

Summary: Truly Unreal
Review: Oh.
My.
God.

A friend of mine sent me the URL of the UT2003 demo this weekend and I installed it without expecting too much. I've been playing first person shooters since Doom and it's been a while since I was truly impressed by a game. The original Unreal was great, but UT had little more to offer besides better graphics. This may be true with UT2003 as well (although I do not think so) but the graphics completely blew me away and for that reason alone I've pre-ordered a full copy of the game. This game is as far beyone UT and Quake3 as they were beyond Unreal and Quake, and probably even more so. And to this add new character models, new weapons, a vastly-improved user interface and native support for Windows XP and you get a FPS to die (or frag) for. I can't wait for October 1st...

Summary: The best first person shooter ever!!!!!!
Review: Im a big big fan of first person shooters. When i first played the first unreal tournament i was amzaed wiht it and i couldnt stop playing it. htne it heardd unreal tournament 2003 is coming out and i was so happy and couldnt wait to gte it. the only problem is i had to wait 3 months or something. So i got a demo of it off somewhere. When i was playing it i fainted. Even before i played the game...just the menu and the little intro looked AMAZING! When i started playing i was in shock. The graphics are so amazing that its un real....well the game is called unreal :}. Then guns and the gameplay and the voices are amazing as well. Theres only one problem..but it isnt big enough to give this game 4 stars. the problem is, is that if u dont have a geforce 3 (like i do :}) thenn your not gonna see how good the graphics can be. But even if this game had really bad graphics, i how still get it becuase of its game play. Now, after reading this,go to a store....quickly, and buy this game!
