Summary: Another Age of Empires 2 imitation
Review: I bought this game thinking it would be innovative and extremely cool, very different of Empire Earth, the game before this. But I got disppointed. This game is just another copy of Age of Empires 2, it doesn't innovate anything.
You can chose to play from the Middle-Ages to WWII, but none of the ages are cool. This is becouse of the stupid things in this game, for example a man taking shot of a tank and do not dying, or being hit by a cannon and the same thing happens. The game characters are always being hit and can't even notice that, they take shot and keep walking. Archers, cannons and anything that can shoot always hits their targets. Soldiers are bigger than airplanes.
These factors appear also in many other rts before this one, but repeating the same mistakes is very stupid.

Summary: There are better, but this is worth getting
Review: I have played many Empire-esque games and I view this as one of the better ones. It is, unlike it's predeccessors totally based around war and that is very good as that's all you ever want to do anyway.
I'll just give you this advise, get it if you like this genre as there are few better, but for someone buying the first of the genre I advise you shop around for a better starter game as this one rather assumes the buyer is familiar with the genre already (I'm using the word genre a lat aren't I?)
Anyway, have a look at some of the other review for contrasts of opinion...
I hope I've been of use, Toodle Pipskie (is that how you spell it?)

Summary: THIS GAME IS AWESOME!
Review: I must say, this game looked like it'd be just another Age of Empires, but I'm totally blown away! And that's just from the demo! The demo is great, but it doesn't have it all, like all the civs and ages but, it was still incredible. My brother and I play it all the time, and if he won't play, the internet supplies me. It's an incredible game, but if you're not sure about it, go to www.empiresrts.com and get the demo, believe me, you won't regret it!

Summary: For the skillful RTS player who likes history & strategy
Review: I've been fortunate to see this game in full version development and have played the demos (single and multi-player). If you love historically based RTS, or just like strategy games, you should definitely enjoy Empires: DMW. The graphics are outstanding, the game is rock solid and options for players of the different civs provide VERY interesting strategic choices.

In multiplayer mode the game will be enormously interesting and challenging because of the options available to the human player. In single player mode, more casual "empire building" players will find a tough but fair AI to compete against, and there will be many difficulty levels to choose from depending on how tough you want your opponent to be.

This is a very, very high quality game in an era when there's a lot of junk out there. But you have to be willing to learn the game and take on a bit of a challenge, and appreciate historical differences in the many civs in the game. If you have the skills to play, you will be richly rewarded!

Summary: The next great sequal to Empire Earth
Review: If you liked Empire Earth, you will definitely like Empires. I have played the World War II missions and the Prince Richard missions and they both have a good story, challenging to play, and just a lot of fun.

The negatives are that when you move naval ships around they seem to get lost and keep moving all over the place and forget to fire sometimes. I have also gone up to attack some germany troops and they just sit there while I shoot at them without firing back...this is a bug.

These are a few shortcoming, but the graphics, story, and gameplay are all well thought out and makes the game a lot of fun to play.

Summary: this game is AWESOME!!
Review: Ive played the demo of this game, and lets just say "i was blown away" ive seen strategy games simalar to this like Age of Empires series, but enlike those this one starts at the mideval age and ends at WW II. I highly reccomend this game for the serious strategy gamer... also any other person out there who is looking for an awesome game. Any other srategy game to this day has now met it's match! Again, Empires: Dawn of the Modern World is best strategy game I have ever played.

Summary: Ordered game 2nd day and received a copy of Old Yeller
Review: Some dumb hillbilly in Kentucky placed a copy of Ole Yeller instead of the game I ordered in my shipment box.
Now I find out Amazon.com has no listed phone numbers to call to rectify this problem.
So, thanks to Amazon.com ignorant staff, I have no game to rate !!

Summary: Multiplayer Stinks
Review: The game is like a copy of Empire Earth but better. The graphics are horable and when i tried to play multiplayer with my brother over LAN you need to have 2 different versions of the game. The Single-Player games are great though.

Summary: Different Name Same Game
Review: Think before you buy folks, think about you've bought this type of game before, they added some new graphics, a touch up on the interface and basically just cut a portion out of the origional Empires and now are charging you another full fee for the same type of gameplay.

If you have a handful of RTS games already, especially the origional Empires or RON or Age of Mythology or Warlords III, etc. etc. Unless you are just a fan(atic) for RTS games, you're just going to be spending extra money for nothing much extra.

But, for RTS fan(atics) who just can have enough RTS games on their hard-drive, then of course nothing I say is going to stop you. But, hopefully those with slim pocket books will think twice and wait for this one to hit the bargain bin in about six months.

Summary: Great game
Review: This game has some of the best graphics on the market today. The framerate is awsome, no chopping in the gameplay, and a great assortment of textures. Saying this I do have a few problems. the game is an improved Empire Earth. It shouldve been sold as an expansion if anything. Another thing is the small amount of units your able to choose to build. The timeline is somewhat short but nonetheless this is an awsome game. A must have for fans of the genre. When completely zoomed in the detail is amazing and the reflections of boats oin the water is mind blowing. the AI is impressive also. I own rise of Nations and am somewhat skilled at the art of war on that game. Being able to easily defeat the enemy on easy I moved the dificulty level up to medium, not knowing that within five minutes the enemy would be running a muck in my capitol. Empires takes care of this flaw with ten levels of difficulty ranging from Jester to Emperor. If your a RTS fan, waste no time go out and get this game.
