Summary: There coming for you....
Review: a military death squad on the rampage, bodystealing headcrabs on the loose, a mysteriouse man watching your every move, your fellow scientis and security guards dying by the hundreds, and a massive alien invasion, this is half life. that would make a blockbuster movie and as a game its just that; a interactive movie.but it also has insanely great a.i (just wate till you meet up with the military) and ATMOSPHERE. not even alien vs predator 2 has such great atmosphere. quet simply it is the greates game i have ever played.

Summary: It was ok, till the end
Review: This game is great in all areas, the graphics, the gameplay, the add-ons (like counter strike, team fortress, and day of defeat) the only problem i had with the game was the ending, i dont want to spoil it, but i think they could have come up with a better ending to this, beat it and see what i mean...

Summary: Best PC Game I've Ever Played
Review: I've been playing PC games for years. This game is the BEST that I've played to date. I haven't found one yet that can beat it. Some come close, but none have surpassed. Fist time I played this game (yes I've played it many times) It scared the heck out of me. I go so sucked into this game, I was up until after 3:00am. After I finished it, I had to go out and buy all of the extra packs for Half-Life. If you don't have this game in your PC collection...consider getting it now. You just may LOVE it! :)

Summary: AWESOME
Review: One of the best games ever, maybe the best when you consider it comes packaged with TFC, an awesome online game.

Summary: It's not Game of the Year for nothing.
Review: Half-Life is an amazing game filled with simple tasks with difficult solutions. Something as easy as killing a single monster can take about twenty minutes or more. These monsters are usually the ones that are banning you from the next area.

Gordon Freeman is a scientist who gets stuck in a huge mess filled with immense problems from saving scientists to stopping an alien invasion. He partakes in the experiment that goes wrong and since he started it, he must finish it.

Half-Life's strengths are it puzzle nature and beautiful combat. The aliens aren't that great but the marines are some of the best AI ever made. H-L's real strenght is when the marines fight the aliens and you are stuck in the middle, faced with the question, "Who do I kill first?" These parts make H-L infamous.

The music which appears quite rarely is great and really sets the mood or tone. I just wish there was more of it.

H-L: GoYE is equipped with the H-L level editor which can be used to great potential (for those who know how to use it).

If you still haven't tried Half-Life it should definately be on your to get list.

Summary: GREAT game, but....
Review: Terribly buggy. Half-Life is the basic game here, and you can get mods that use the Half-Life engine. One of the most popular is Counterstrike, which you can download for free, so don't buy it. The various mods are great, Counterstrike being the best in my opinion. The only drawback to Half-Life is that it constantly crashes. This usually happens when loading a level during online play or when trying to exit the game. Pretty frustrating. Otherwise, great buy: don't miss out!

Summary: Great Multiplayer Experience
Review: The initial buzz regarding this game was enormous, leading some publications to regard it as the best videogame ever. But hindsight shows that the title simply hasn't aged well.

For starters, the plot is void and simplistic - seen a million times before. The game is also overly long, and the puzzles get old fast. For a similarly themed game, "Deus Ex" outdoes HL, as it actually delivers on the promise of realism. In other words, the gameplay adjusts to you and not the other way around.

Possibly the strongest point about HL is the mod community built around it. Mods are addons which can be downloaded off the net for free. Although the quality of the singleplayer mods leaves much to be desired, the multiplayer mods are often spectacular, as is the case of Day of Defeat and Counter Strike.

My advice is to purchase it SOLELY for these mods, provided you have a good internet connection, so that you may spend many sleepless nights playing the various realism-oriented mods available.

Summary: A landmark; 'nuff said
Review: It says something about a video game when you don't consider it a game so much as an experience. Half-Life qualifies as one of those games.
If you don't believe me, pop in the Half-Life CD. Play the first level, which doesn't even possess any gunplay. Listen to the story. Hooked yet? Believe me, you will be.
The graphics are excellent, the sound is well-defined, the story is compelling, and the action is intense. In Half-Life, almost every enemy character - be it a headcrab, soldier, or other monstrosity - has its own unique ability. By the time you reach soldiers in the game, you are used to dealing with one-note aliens. When the soldiers start using teamwork and intelligence to flush you out, your playing style will have to altar drastically to survive.
That element alone is what makes the Half-Life single player experience special. However, the exemplary multi-player mode only adds to the fun, and adds that office space diversion feel. My personal favorite character in the multi-player mode (which comes complete with internet link-up and all your usual nifty LAN options) is the Heavy Weapons Guy, which involves absolutely no finesse and less strategy to dominate other players.
Simply put, a must-have.

Summary: This game rocks!
Review: Half-life, is the best firstperson shooter since doom,
but I have a question, PLEASE IF ANYONE KNOWS THIS ANSWER IT!!
I truly believe that half-life does not support lightmaps, lightmaps is increasing the visual quality of the game, but decreases performance, so answer this question.Ps, I'm 13 years old son of DeborahMerlin, don't worry my mom is more than crazy!

Summary: Why is this game popular?
Review: Hey, maybe I'm doing something wrong but, I haven't been able to get this game to do much of anything... the graphics are poor for this day and age and the controls were even worse... I didn't play very long though, so it's not fair to say it truly [stinks]... Maybe I'll try it again and see if I missed something...
