Summary: outstanding game, lots of bugs though..
Review: Granted, this game is already 6 years old now, but it still gives me more fun than most of the other games I own. A lot of "FPS"'s have either poor physics or poor AI, but half life seems to have gotten it nailed, excellent physics and the artificial intelligence is actually smart. The plot itself is fun with many different and challenging levels and weird twists riddled throughout.

Graphics are great for such an old game, but this is an old game and graphics are a bit weak when compared to modern games. To put it in perspective, they would be better than a playstation 1 game but not as great as a playstation 2 game.

Sound production is actually very good with half life. However, your system sound card and speakers will really make or break this. The better sound card really makes a difference especially with "EAX" mode enabled.

Where gameplay leaves you happy, the graphics and constant game glitches can get the best of your happy side. This is no joke, but half life probably has the most bugs of any game i have played. Problems like stalling in the middle of a game, unable to start display, scripting problems (for cheats mostly), inability to use most cheats, and problems saving games are frequent when playing. The biggest bug is with graphics and adjustments of graphics. The game has a hard time setting and implementing the settings and therefore stalls out and leaves you unable to "resume game". In addition, it constantly has trouble starting back up after going back to the main menu.

Whats even worse, the updates for half life havent solved ANY of the problems. The newest one which just came out (1.1.1.0) is still bugged. I have tried this game on other computers, some of which with large processors and they all exhibit the same problems. I have a P3 500mhz with a 32mb video card.

Considering the age of half life, i feel its an excellent game overall. You can play it to death and still love it. Consequently, i would recommend this game for your collection.

Summary: The game that keeps giving
Review: Half-life seems to still be the holy grail of game development. Very few companies have been able to produce a game with such resounding success, both in single-player and multi-player arenas. Even with a game engine that is considered ancient by today's standards, Half-Life continues to dominate the FPS on-line gamming community. With the simplicity of the game engine and a great support for game modifications, Half-Life-driven games have popped up everywhere from some kid in his parent's house to huge game studios.
If you don't have this game already, you are missing out on a huge (and very addictive) on-line gaming experience.

Summary: Classic game.
Review: The story/plot behind this game is excellent as is the gameplay. Download the demo from the manufacturer and try it out, you will be surprised, the game may be getting old but it will always be a classic in much the same way that Doom and Pac Man will always remain classics.

Summary: Still in the top 10 online games
Review: Half-Life is still in the top ten games, because of the online play. with tons of features like msg chat in the game or voice all built in the game nothing to download. Want to run a server of your own right in the game. All kinds of Mods to many to count, and numerous web sites and pages for cheats, skins, mods etc.

Summary: Bottom line: Awesome game
Review: All I have to say is this: This game is my second favorite game of all time, and you gotta really have a great game for it to even be remotely close to the top 5. This game is well deserving of the title "Game of the Year". This game has changed the way first person shooters are made. I see elements of this game present in games they have out today like Star Wars: Jedi Outcast and Max Payne. This game is awesome and has had an equally awesome effect on the first person shooters to come after it. Get this game and you will see what I mean.

Summary: "Best Game Of All Time"
Review: This is the first and only game ever to be named "Best Game Of All Time" and it's also been named "Game Of The Year" by over 50 publications!

Summary: The only reason to buy this game.
Review: Ok I would just like to clear up this one nice little detail, the reason anyone should buy Half-Life is for the MODs out there such as Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, etc. Personally I think the game itself stinks, easy to beat I mean the hardest part is near the end of the game! I honestly think Valve could have done much better with this game.

Summary: OK
Review: This is a Great game but i only play online, i hate singleplayer games so, if you want a good multiplayer game with lots of mods avalailable this it is, no more no less, great online game so 5 star for that, 3 for singleplayer

Summary: great
Review: This game is a very fun and challenging game. A MUSTHAVE for 1st person players. There is strategy involved, so it's not just a "KILL KILL KILL EVERY ONE!" kind of game.one thing I didn't like that much was that u r a scientist whose experiment turned the surounding desert into a alien, marine, & special ops battle feild. But ur just a scientist, how would he know how to scale clifs, operate weapons from a scifi movie, and save the world with just a PHD in Theoretical physics. Like I think some one once said,"Your PHD wont save you now, doctor(Freeman)"

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: best game ever ? ya
Review: this is the best game i have ever played. and i know that doesn't mean much to u but this game is absolutely brilliant, seriously buy it now
