Summary: Finally, an excellent Star Wars game.
Review: I have played this game through to the end, twice. I must say, I had great anticipation for this true, Star Wars open-ended roleplaying game, and that anticipation was well deserved.Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is one of the best roleplaying games currently on the X-Box. This game holds it's own against Morrowind and several other hot titles from Microsoft's console system. The story follows you, a soldier on a ship attacked by the Sith army, and your adventures from there. You'll see many planets mentioned in the Star Wars cannon and Expanded Universe, along with their associated wild life. You'll meet several new companions of different races, such as a wookie, a twi'lek, a Mandalorian, several Jedi's and droids. All of these elements, along with a completely voice acted script and cinematic sound, appearance, and feel make this an truly immersive game. Along with the choice to fall to the darkside or uphold the light, this game ends up showing an incredible replay value. A possible 40+ hours of gameplay, along with all of the side quests and main quests make this game interesting, as your choices to follow these quests can affect how the game ends. Keep in mind, this is the Star Wars universe several thousand years in the past. You won't see a Darth Vader, mentions of a new hope, limited numbers of Jedi and Dark Jedi, etc. That doesn't hurt the game, however, as this helps disconnect you from the cannon, and believe it truly is your own adventure and you're not reliving the ones of Luke Skywalker and company. All of the things I've mentioned, along with the evolved engine and system of Bioware's previous games, make this an excellent game. All X-Box owners should own this game, and this is one that definately makes it worth having the system. And PC gamers won't be left out for too much longer as well, since this game will also be released on the PC platform in the next few months.

Summary: Wow... This is really well designed.
Review: I don't own an X-box, and have only played through the game's introduction, but I must say that they have designed a very good game interface. The problem with most console games is that the keyboard is a much more flexible tool for running the game. KoTOR works it's way around the limitations of a console controler with an interface that is a cinch to pick up. You won't be wishing for a keyboard like I usually do when I'm playing Halo. And being able to dual weild blasters and use the rapid shot feat as a first level character just fricken' rocked. The game seems to be based on the D20 pencile&paper StarWars game, so if you like that system, you'll feel right at home with the character creation process and game mechanics. BioWare has a winner with this one. =)

Summary: A Fine RPG and Involving Star Wars-Themed Game
Review: Arguably more immersive and truer to the spirit of the movies than the MMORPG from Sony, Knights of the Old Republic is the latest triumph from the RPG masters at Bioware. Set thousands of years before Episode I, KOTR allows you to develop your character to the ways of the Jedi--be it light or dark--in a story that encompasses both the politcal machinations and good and evil struggle that have become trademarks of the Star Wars universe. While the story follows a somewhat linear path highlighted by several critical crossroads, there are many different choices offered to your character which affect their alignment to either the Jedi or Sith. In addition, there are a number of side stories, and many different items, skills, and experiences for your adventurer as well. What this means for diehard gamers is extended replayability and a much better roleplaying experience. The levels of socialization that the game allows your character to explore are among the highest done yet in a game of this type. You may find yourself with some very difficult choices to make and some interesting consequences to bear. Summary: Graphics: Very good. The models, textures, and backgrounds are solid, if not especially detailed. The animations and effects capture the essence of the Star Wars theme. Sounds: Also very good. The amount of speech in the game is incredible, and voice-acting is professional and well-done. Music: Not quite the level of impact of the original John Williams score, but still appropriate to the atmosphere. Gameplay: As with most RPGs, controls are basic and designed to get you where you need to go--no need for fast reflexes or pinpoint accuracy here. The interface is fairly intuitive and should be recognizable to fans of this genre. The third person camera perspective is not distracting. Pros: Excellent story, you'll laugh, you may or may not cry, but you'll be satisfied; lots of character development both in personality, and in the RPG-stats departments; lots of atmosphere and immersion. Cons: A few bugs that may affect gameplay; framerate a little disappointing; turn-based combat and "RPG" rules may disappoint some. Overall, this is an excellent game. Highly Recommended.

Summary: Review on the Republic
Review: This game looks very promising. If you have played some of Lucasart's other titles, this one should be the best one yet. It takes place 4000 years before a Phantom Menace. You can create a fully customizable character. This tile also has wookies, double-sided lightsabers, more sith, and plenty of droids to demolish. I haven't played the game, but I've read just about every forum avalible. This game looks to be very promising. A must have for all Star Wars fans.

Review: Jedi outcast was the shiznitz, I don't care what anyone says. Any star wars game that allows me to run around and hack ppls arms off with my light saber is an A+++++ game. And now there's something potentialy better on the horizon !! Old republic looks very promising. If the wookies are as bad a$$ as Klye in Jedi outcast it's gonna be ON. 2 wookies and a sith knight, that's all I'll need !!

Summary: Sure To Beat Jedi Outcast
Review: This game looks really cool. Knights of the Old Republic takes place 4,000 years before the first Star Wars film, in the middle of a war between the Jedi and the Sith. You have a fully customizable character, and you always have an older sibling of the opposite gender who is a skilled Jedi Knight. Eventually you will become one, too. But before that, it's you and whatever blasters you may find or pick up. Also, you can make a group that can consist of Wookiees, Jedi, droids, Twi'Leks, or whatever is present and strikes your fancy. You'll travel to many worlds in your ship, the Ebon Hawk, very similar to the Millenium Falcon. En route, however you'll face Sith fighters. This game looks very exciting.

Review: I just want to include some of the game features that we do know since there isn't much tangible information here for anyone just browsing. (I don't consider "it's totally cool" to be very informative) All of this information is from the official XBOX magazine or from the LucasArts websight itself. Knights of the Old Rupublic takes place 4,000 years before the Star Wars movies. KOTOR is a role playing game in which you travel to up to ten different worlds including Tatooine, Sith world of Korriban, Jedi Academy on Dantooine and Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. The real thrill in this game is that you decide how your character will use the force. You could become as "pious and somewhat irritating Jedi in the mode of Luke Skywalker, to a rotten-from-the-inside mega-despot that makes Emperor Palpatine look like Andy Griffith." Also, it is certain that you will have the opprotunity to build your own custom lightsaber. Screenshots from the official websight would indicate that you can have a lightsaber in each hand in the style of Anakin Skywalker or even a double bladed lightsaber in the style of Darth Maul. That is about all that I can tell you. I hope this information was helpful in your decision to buy this game (as soon as it comes out anyway).

Review: When I saw this game I thought it would be another Jedi Outcast,but it looks totally different.I`m a huge Star Wars fan and love Star Wars games,in this game you could use a lightsaber in each hand,single lightsaber or a double bladed lightsaber.The best thing is that it is a Shooter-RPG.

Review: Okay i was amazed at how good this game is. I am generally not a Star Wars fan and the recent imprinting of SWG in my mind had put a bad name on all star wars games for me. I was over at my friends house and he had it, and well...fromt he first momements playing it i was caught into it =). The graphics, the gameplay, the EVERYTHING is amazing! It had a very good setup (from the Star Wars roleplaying game, not Dungeons and Dragons, though they are much the same actually...) so the game moved along smoothly. There are SO many things u can do in the game, combat strats, choosing what type of jedi u are and weather u are light or dark. Truly an awsome game

Summary: Great gameplay, bad bugs
Review: I have been enthralled with this game ever since I bought it about a month ago. I am a Star Wars fan to begin with, and Bioware has done an awesome job translating the SW universe into a playable RPG. One of the nice things about the game is that even though there is turn based combat, you can pause and queue your players' actions during the course of the battle (I don't play many turn based RPGs so this was a new concept for me). The graphics are very pretty, especially the cut scenes where you see your ship fly in and out of various ports. The one thing I don't like are the bugs. I have a home built system that isn't too shabby (2.8 gHZ Pentium IV, 1028 MB Kingston DDR2700 RAM, and ASUS P4P8X motherboard, and 128 MB 9600 SE ATI RADEON card) and the darn thing still crashes from time to time. I downloaded the most recent updates for both the game and the video card, and I still find this happening. Sometimes I have to reboot the whole system too. Nothing like pounding a bunch of Dark Jedi only to have your game freeze immediately after you are done (and hence not saved position).
