Summary: Why there are no reviews for oldies
Review: This is a decent expansion of one of the bestselling RTS games made. This almost, neccesary update will take down both strategies than made Allies useless in the basic game. I mean, the TANK rush and the tesla nightmare. 8 of 10 multiplayer games in RA1 will pick soviets for these reasons, and after several conversations with other gamers and forums, it was stated that after 3 minutes, there was absolutely no way to stop this technique with allies. Of course, sea can give you a chance, but, oh, players HATE sea, therefore you wont be able to make cruisers, whatsoever. You are doomed. Aftermath brings the solution, by slowing down certain building structures speed, allowing you to stop that pesky IN base multi tesla. And also you get some usefull units for the allies to get some chances vs the soviets. Not to forget that heavy tanks blockade protecting those v2 rockets.

Summary: PLEASE, HEAR ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I know that everyone else around me has given this game a good review, but please just hear me out. This game is ...To start off, the storyline has taken a dramatic turn that really isn't that dramatic. For all of those who say that the storyline is good then I really don't know where you got your since of judgement. The president is played by a really famous actor whom I can't figure his name right now, but I can't stand his acting all the same, and all the other characters suck too. and Romanoff!!! ROMANOFF!!!!!!!!! Stalin has been defeated and replaced by someone by the name of ROMANOFF!!!! You simply cannot get worse than that. The Romanovs were a long standing royal dynasty that ruled Russia for ages, and came to its end in one of the greatest historical events of modern history. And the makers of this game decide to take a most revolting shortcut by REPLACING ONE LETTER OF THEIR NAME!!!!!!!!!!! Oh Man, Okay First of all, like most all C&C games, the sides are horribly unbalenced. The Allies have this new weapon called the Prisim Cannon that effectively makes them superior to the Soviets in every way! The whole idea was that the soviets were the ones to have the tower that was rip em up, take em down. Believe me, the tesla coil is much worse than it used to be. You can power them up with the Tesla troopers (which aren't that bad) but it doesn't cover the divide that the Prism Cannons make. The Soviets also use outdated technology like zepplins, flak cannons, and V2 type rocket launchers. Come on! The Allies are teleporting people. The least you can do is not use ballons. To make the matter even worse, the skirmish mode teams now have been differentiated (all of the other countries like America, Libyia, Britian ect.) by giving each side its own individual unit, this is actually a good idea, but the game fails to capitilize on this smart manuever because the WHOLE GAME IS BASED ON WHO CAN GET THE SUPER WEAPONS FIRST!!!! The nuke is better than that of C&C Red Alert I. The chronosphere is now worth the time and effort and resourses to make. Not to mention that there is a new super weapon called the weather controller or something. It is a very powerful weapon, but it is TOO POWERFUL!!!The whole idea of making up such a weapon is ludicrous. Sure it is powerful in gameplay, but the whole concept is dumb/stupid/idotic you name it. I tried very hard to use some kind of fun stratagy by utilizing the individual units given to you in skirmish. Most of these guys are really pretty cool, but it was ruined by the race for the super weapons. I think you can turn that off, but the whole idea was that you wouldn't have to. The worst is Tanya. ewwhhhhahhhheeeeellll I can't stand Tanya!!! She was anoying on the first one and now she's even worse. If you don't know what I'm talking about then I will explain. Tanya is the Allies most elite infiltration operative. She's tough. she can lay bombs, kill enemies with one shot and even swim. But her attitude is horrible!!! That is what makes units like that cool or stupid. It's their attitude, their cool factor. She never stops saying all these STUPID, CHEESY, lines that grit on the back of your brain. To make her even more stupid, she carries two .45 caliber semi-automatics. .45 caliber!! She dishes out a one shot kill wilh two guns like that! The standard marine on this game is supposed to carry an M16!! Five times as effective as semi-automatics. It wouldn't be that bad if only she wasn't so DUMB!!! She would be able to get away with semi-automatics if she was cool, but she is not!!! and again it wouldn't be so bad if she didn't have such a big..BIG!!!... part in the storyline. Combine all these factors together and you've got a really annoying sprite. Man I remember the commando from the original C&C. He didn't have two wimpy pistols. He had a 50 caliber assault rifle! He didn't have a fansy name or anything, he was just THE commando. All he did was kill, and bad mouthed the people he killed, and then kept on killing!!! Oh goodness. There are MANY!!! more flaws in this game, but my fingers are going numb. I'll give it two stars barely. Mostly because of the individual units who, try as they might, couldn't make this game any good. I am dissapointed in Westwood. Mark those words! DISSAPOINTED!

Summary: Westwood rounds off its assets
Review: Judging completely nonobjectively, many observers may find themselves thinking of Red Alert 2 merely as another installment in a saga that has had neither large change nor thrilling inovation. In fact, this is not quite true. Speaking purely technically, this game offers what the other side of the Command and Conquer saga never could:an experience which was at least close to par with that of an actual wartime environment. See, the alternate side of the saga, or that which concerns the two warring organizations NOD and GDI, usually, at least from what I have seen of it, focused on "infiltration", Where as Red Alert, or at least Red Alert 2, focused mainly on "invasion". Look at the facts: in the command and conquer saga, units are stronger, more impervious to damage, they cost more, and the standard base (at least in Tiberian Sun)are protected by things such as automated security gates, guard towers, etc. Yet, in the Red Alert series, units are cheap, larger amounts of money are more easily acquired, units are more easily destroyed, and bases have no need for things like security gates and guard towers, but rather pill boxes and prism towers. These are all things that constitute the existence of large invasion forces composed of similar units. Yet, why then, I'm sure you ask, did I give the game only four stars? Well, very simply, I did it because the premise is SO rediculous. The reunification of the Soviet Union and their subsequent invasion of the United States? It's just too unlikely a premise. The title of "Premier" doesn't even exist over there anymore. Anyway, I also had to go against the movies that play between mission. Westwood: please try to get rid of some of the cheese in some of the cut scenes, for god's sake. In anycase, this is a great game, offering an engrossing interface while making the Command and Conquer saga a bit more well-rounded.

Summary: Addicted all over again
Review: I love the C&C series games. Now we get to play them from inside the bases and landscapes. Based on the other reviews I guess the demo was lousy, however, I haven't had any complaints about the AI. The graphics are outstanding. My biggest criticism is the cut-scenes. Ther're kinda cheezy. All in all, the game is awesome and very fun and addicting to play.

Summary: New, better, and easy
Review: Red Alert 2 has everyting that everyone wanted in Red Alert 1. It has better grapics, a better story, and fresh units. Both the Soviet and Allied single player mission are great and fun with interesting twists. As usual Westwood Studios has given us a great game with a good backstory and bad cinemas (but since most people don't even watch them it doesn't really matter.) Yet there is one problem with this great game, it's too easy. If you start the single player missions on normal it can be challenging to beginners yet after a while it can get dull even on hard. Yet Westwood puts in a solution to that too. Since the game features single player skirmish battle and a wide array of multi-player games. It's one of the best RTS games I've ever played. If you're into RTS games this is a must have.

Summary: It is a great game
Review: I think it is a great game. It is a great game for all people who love strategy games. If you are a veteran or a beginner player you will still have a great time with this game. I personaly like it because I like all the different units and all of the different buildings you can build. I also enjoy all of the different strategy you can use to defend you base and counquer the enemy. For more information on the game I suggest going to westwood.com. I would suggest buying the game only if you are sure you would like it but if it were up to me wast no more time reading this review and go ahead on buy it. If you enjoy this game you might want to buy Yuri's Revenge, the expantion pack of Red Alert 2.

Summary: awsome, with bonus stereotyping!
Review: I bought this game and it's expansion pack (Yuri's Revenge) from a friends recommendation. I have yet to play the expansion, but I can tell you that the Number 2 is some of the greatest moments in gaming that I've had in a while. The graphics could, well, use some upgrading, at least on the individual "human" units. The people are rather chunky and pixilated, but everyting else (buildings, vehicles, explosions) look great, especially at high resolutions. As with any good RTS game, you get your standard Skirmish mode, Campaign, Internet play, and the ability to network through a LAN, but I haven't figured out how to use it yet because it requires more than passing knowledge of networks. Basically, if you have ever played Counter-Strike or any game like that where it just gives you a plain view of your local games, don't expect that in this game. Upon opening up the package, you will see 2 discs, the Soviet (my favorite) and the Allied. There different in ways like unit types, tech trees, and so on. The game is set in the future, so expect to see mind controling devices and tesla coils. At any rate, the story is told through the campaign, and you might want to grab the expansion (Yuri's Revenge) when you beat it, probably because you will be craving even more of this 5-star RTS.

Summary: Red Alert 2 was better
Review: I had really liked Red Alert 2 and thought this would be just as good. It has a lot of new units and features, but I expected more. It was worth buying, though. you can get a patch for it that fixes Red alert 2's non-obvious problems. But you can no loger make multiple Tanyas. It also has a lot of errors, but my computer does that with most games anyway.
