Summary: Better then EQ
Review: I've played EQ for about two years now and didn't know what to expect with only my second MMORPG game experience. Reading reviews from folks who played the beta, I expected a release like the WW2 online game from a while back that never got fixed. But playing it for about two weeks now, I can happily say that it has been a near perfect gaming experience for me. For the reviewer that says that he disconnected 6 times a day, check your machine or check your internet provider, cause I'm in Germany and I have never lost connection. The only complaint I have about this game is the fact that if I am on an uncompleted mission when I log out, when I log back in and follow the waypoints back to my objective, there has been a couple times that my objective was gone. No biggy, I just go get another mission, a little time taken away. Anyway, i've enjoyed this game and I have found myself hooked like I was to EQ so long ago.

Summary: This is the worst game I've ever played.
Review: I had been playing this game since beta, so I knew what issues to expect. Some of them even faded into the background and I don't even pay attention to them anymore, but since beta, this game has gotten WORSE.

First of all, my computer crashes every time I sign out or get disconnected to the game (which happens two or three times a day). On top of that, it crashes about three to five times before I can sign in. That means that on an average day, my computer crashes about 6 times a day.

On top of that, I've been building my character since release. I'm a smuggler, and so I had a bunch of resources in my house to make spice. I'd spent a week collecting all sorts of things, copper, wheat, gas, so on and so forth, and probably had about 20k units total in the house. That's enough to make enough spice to last Jabba a year.

Well, when I signed in this morning, the house and everything in it was gone.

But wait, it gets worse: No one would help me.

The troubleshooting room, which is purportedly open from 9 am to 9 pm PDT never has anyone there. When I finally went there and someone was there, they were having server issues so there were about 200 people there. The CSR that was in there FINALLY addressed my issue after about fifteen minutes of small talk (yes, he did discuss the weather and his thoughts about being a CSR--he wasn't even helping other people) and dismissed it as something trivial. He thought I'd just made the house. No, no, CSRKeithR, I've had the house for about two weeks now.

I tried to talk to the live online chat and the phone people but both told me they were for technical issues only. I sent in a bug report via their bug reporting tool, and I opened a customer service ticket. I sent an email, and there has been absolutely no response.

EVERYTHING I've built up has just poofed into thin air. And instead of them being apologetic and falling all over themselves, they've ignored me. Basically the past three weeks don't exist for my character. All I have to show for it is experience points and a title, which doesn't go very far. Sure, I can slice stuff, but I need tools to do that, and if all the tools and things to make the tools are gone, well ... I can't make it.

I've spent more time being irate at this shoddily put together game than I have actually playing it. The only reason it got released so soon was because George Lucas was counting his money before it rolled in. I would suggest that you do NOT buy this game and do NOT give him more reason to release even more awful products.

This is a far cry from the amazing movies made twenty five years ago. George Lucas should be ashamed to have his name attached to it.

Summary: A worthy investment
Review: I was hesitant to buy this game after playing EQ for over 2 years. I didnt want to be sucked into another game that was a GIANT time sink.

I was pleasently surprised when I found that I could log on for 30 min and feel satisfied playing. If you line MMROPG's than this is a great one for you!

Summary: Give it a chance, it will grow on you
Review: This was my fist venture into the MMORPG genre. I was never that interested in the Ever Quest world, but Star Wars seemed like a much more interesting place to explore. I have been playing for about a week now and I absolutely love it. The key to enjoying the game comes from the social interactions you have while in the Star Wars world. It is a very rewarding experience to meet with fellow gamers in the cantina and go off on an adventure together. The game makes social interactions fun and meaningful and even the shyest gamer will come out of their shell once they are in this fantastic world. Give it a shot, you won't regret.

Summary: The most pleasing MMO to date
Review: Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided is one of the most anticipated games of 2003. Not only do you get to live in the Star Wars world, but you have a real choice over your profession. Get sick of being an Artisan? You can be a Marksman instead. This non-linearity is one of the game's selling points.

Character customization is amazing with tons and tons of options. My only issue was with the lack of hairstyles for some of the different races. You choose a planet to start on. These are familiar locations, like Naboo and Tatooine, and new places, like Lok and Talus.

Of course the game has its fair share of problems. Bugs are annoying, but those can be resolved, and there doesn't always seem like there is a lot to do. But despite this, you can't help but want to keep playing. Just the other day, I witnessed a Tusken battle. There was a tremendous sense of teamwork. It was spectacular.

The Collector's Edition does not contain much worth bragging about, a artbook (featuring some hairstyles not available!) of planets and races, a female Zabrak pewter figure, an SWG patch, an SWH pin, and a manual signed by the staff and (duh, duh, duh!) George Lucas himself. There are also three in-game pairs of goggles that only CE owners can wear. The CE isn't that great. B-

The game in its current state deserves a B+. However, MMOs change. With the opportunity for greatness, A+.

Summary: BUGS BUGS BUGS!
Review: I've been playing the game for about a week and every time I play I encounter a huge number of bugs that interfere with gameplay to the point of making the game unplayable. The bugs present in this game keep players from progressing, purchasing items, and making money. I cannot believe that they have the gall to charge a monthly fee in addition to the price of the game for a game that should still be in the testing/development phase. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead on 1 is that the graphics are great, and the players are generally very ince and helpful, other than that this gamne is a huge waste of time and money. For example, I spent and hour and a half doing various missions which yield experience and money, and in the end ended up with 0 experience and 0 money. And I'm paying a monthly fee for this? They should be paying me for trying out their game and reporting everything that's wrong so they can fix it.

Summary: Ay-Yi-Yi-Yi-!!!!
Review: When are you people going to realize that all these so-called "bugs" in the game are only the fault of running it on a shoddy Microsoft System. Though I'll have to agree with the thing somepeople are saying about how long it takes to get a response... But that too was probably intentinal to get you to pay the online subscription for as long as posible.
As for the game itself, it is an ingenious idea and a wonderful game. For those of you who haven't noticed it actually has a bit incommon with "Animal Crossing", beleve it or not, only instead of a cheesy animal village, you get to create your life and character in the StarWars Universe. Moving through your virtual life to become anything from a Jedi Master, to a Dancer in the bowels of Cursant, to Bobo Fett's Right-Hand Man, to a RedGuard of Darth Sidious.

George Lucas! What were you thinking when you let this be released on only windows. Give us a console version or at least release it for the Mac!

A Fan whose fed up with Microsoft and computer problems...

Summary: For true fans only
Review: I bought this version of the game, and I am quite happy that I did. However, I also didn't mind spending a few extra bucks, and I like Star Wars. When I really look at what I got, it wasn't a whole lot to be honest.

There is the actual game (which is great and I rated a 5... but that's for the regular version, not the collectors edition). Then, you get a silly little figurine, which resembles a 2 inch silver toy solder from space. Not very exciting. You can hardly tell what it is. The back of the manual has the signatures of the most important developers printed on (not my cup of tea, really, but if it gets you excited...). There are a few minor things, like a Star Wars pin I believe.

The only thing that is any good here is the "Art of Star Wars Galaxies" book. This is pretty cool (and apparently can't be purchased elsewhere). But whether or not it is worth 30 bucks more than the regular version is up to you to decide...

Summary: By far the least boring online game. This is actually good.
Review: I normally really do not like online games (although I keep trying them), but I got hooked by this one. At first, the game seems like all other online games. In fact, there are even space-rats to kill in order to gain experience (its almost like a parody, actually). However, once you get into it a bit more, this is a very good and entertaining game.

For one, the game has incredible depth. Where in other games, you spend boring minutes to find your monster to kill, and then click on it to kill it in the most boring fashion, here you actually need player-skill to kill other things. Different weapons, different stands, different strategies. Although combat does depend on your character's skills, it also depends on your own skills.

And then there is a lot more than killing rats. In fact, you do not have to kill anything at all. Crafting and mining resources is quite interesting. Even things like entertainers. If you ever want to see (or be) a drunk wookie doing an erotic dance with an overweight twi'lek women, this is the game for you! I think spending time in bars and cantinas is one of my favorite things to do in this game. I don't think I ever laughed as heartily in any other video game.

Also, there just is a ton of things to do. Wanna visit Jabba's Palace? Well, you can do so (among other things you may know from the movies). You will not be able to do so right away, and even once you get there, it will take you a while to get into the inner areas of the palace. But the point is that there is a whole bunch of stuff to see that is actually worth seeing. For me, this is the first ever game where I went around sight-seeing, just because it is worth it. In fact, I actually had my character sit down for a few minutes just to watch the sunset of the dual suns of Tatooine. The sight was spectacular!

And hey, at this point I haven't even left Tatooine (my home planet in the game). In fact, I hardly left my town...

You must be aware however, that this game will take up a ton of your time! You can not run around right away and be a Jedi or any other character of high significance. At the end of the day, this is still a MMORPG.

Summary: another great one
Review: i played this game for a bit at a friend's house and i was impressed. though i did not play enough to really get into it, it was enough to want to purchase the game, soon. there is so many character types to choose from and professions. for example if you want to be a long range player that uses a rifle, one can choose to be a marksman. using a long range rifle increases your expereince in the use of that type of weapon. once you get enough experience you go on to another level of that same type of weapon use. or you can use pistols for short range and gain experience as you use that weapon. one may even choose to specialize in both short range and long range weapons for versitality. architech proffesion allows teh player to build things from houses to turrets which may come in handy in long range battle if close combat isnt your stile and you want to help your short range combat friends out. there is so many things to do in this game and will most diffinately be a favorite to the MMORPG vets and new players alike
