Summary: Vast improvement over Armada 1.
Review: Positives:

Armada 2 is a vast improvement over Armada 1. Most important, the campaigns, instant action and multiplayer have run without a single hitch. I have encountered no bugs.

The greatest in-game improvement, hands down, is the new interface. Terrific grpahics and very intuitive interface make this game a hoot to play.

The expanded selection of ships and wonderful new Borg and Species 8472 designs mean that the species actually play differently (especially the Borg).

Also notable is the voical talent of Alice Krige, the voice of the Borg Queen, who manages to be seductive and creepy at the same time. It seems she didn't just read the lines off the page (think Patrick Stewart), but that she is actually acting. And very, very well.

Negatives:

Although pretty to look at and a cinch to control, where is the strategy? A battleship with special technology lasts about three seconds in combat. The player who wins does so by throwing huge number of ships at you. I would have much preferred fewer resources neccessitating fewer ships (that don't die so easily). That way the loss of a starbase or fleet would actually mean something. As it is, the game is essentialy build, move and watch a (short) fight.

The terrific interface has one downside--because everything is so automated, there isn't much to really do. I felt like a spectator rather than a participant. Still, the game is so attractive it can still be fun to watch.

Unit balancing. The units are too balanced. I hear people complaining about unequal balancing, but here a Sovereign can beat two Cubes. I realize it's a game and not the show, but the game feels so balanced, it becomes impersonal.

Summary: (...) fest
Review: The graphics are bad and it is not a good companion with the first armada. It just was put together badly. I wish I never bought it. the idea was right but the ships (...) and they get destroyed to easily. They are destroyed in 2 seconds and the grtaphics on the first one was much better. I believe you should play the first one more. I have to say the instant action in good but like I said above it (...). It just is no fun with the shields fail 2 seconds in the game. I say this game should not be bought till they fix the bugs or redo the whole thing.

Summary: Better than I expected
Review: I just bought Star Trek: Armada 2. It definitely looks like Activision took notes from all the complaints in Star Trek: Armada (1) and fixed the problems. Now you can have up to 16 ships in each fleet. There are 3 single play campaigns including Star Fleet, Klingon, and the Borg. All the Next Generation, DS9, and Voyager ships are in this game. The tutorials are great and let you play as Species 8472, Romulans, and Cardassians. The idea in the tutorial is that you can learn how the enemy works so you can beat them.

The graphics are great! The ships have special weapons which require recharging (similar to magic in Warcraft). When starships explode in the game, it is really cool. The introduction has pretty good animation and a voiceover by Patrick Stewart.

The only possible thing that I could ask for more is to include the Dominion. This is what Homeworld: Catalysm should have been.

Summary: Resistance is Futile... Yeah, yeah, but before that...
Review: Scratching the surface of an excellent story line in Star Trek Armada, the Federation is at it again with a stronger fleet, and powerful allies at it's side. But fear not assimilation lovers the universe's ultimate bad guys the Borg are also ready to make the Federation and Klingons into whipping boy drones. Seing 8472 on the scene should make things interesting. Wha-hoo! warp capabilities & a shiny new 3D interface, with more fluid controls, (I feel like Homer at a doughnut factory, mmm... sprinkles) take it from a harcore gamer and trek fan, this is the one is going to be the envy of everyone during the holidays. (. . .)

Summary: Best Game Ever
Review: I thik that Star Trek Armada 2 is on the map. The frist one was bad, but they fixed the 3D engine and it has stunning efects.
I'm also a big fan of Star Trek and this hit the spot for me. It also remminds me of Age Of Empiers... in space. And for people who like to blow thiings up this is your game. Don't touch me! La La La La La La La! You got to buy Star Trek Armada 2. You get to play as three races Klingons, humans, or the the bad scary cyborg Borgs. STA2 contanis 30- 40 diffrent classes of ships, and you can controll up two 16 diffrent ships. Also the maps has doubled in size so you can travle at warp a lot. (...)

Summary: FULLY INTERACTIVE
Review: This game is so interactive, it lets you set power allocation to all systems, lets you speak as a "captain" making decisions instead of the computer having all the fun. A heads-up game guaranteed to spark interest in people who are looking for a real challenging game, not just another role-playing game. A must for any Star Trek collection.

Summary: The greatest space combat sim ever made
Review: If you like SFC, this is the game for you. There are 16 possible races to choose from - 8 empires and 8 pirate cartels. No other Starfleet Command product gives you the range of options of this game.

If you don't know SFC, its level of tactics is unequaled in the gaming industry. There is no space simulation game that is more detailed and fascinating.

It takes skill. This is not a shoot-em-up. While not easy to learn, patience and practice will mold you into a feared and deadly starship captain. The online play, supported by the free GameSpy Arcade, is the most rewarding, for you can pit your skills against other captain wannabes. Do not be discouraged. As I said, it takes seasoned skill to win. When you first begin, you have little hope against a veteran player. Your skills will improve in a few weeks, however. Your first victory against another human opponent will be sweet, sweet, sweet.

Buggy at first, with patches it has become very stable. It is a very rewarding game for those who are looking for a game with a little depth.
