Summary: don't bother playing on the Mac
Review: too much pretty graphics too poor playability and variety... Starcraft is better than this. Mac conversion is awful, even with a G4 loading a game takes ages. Tries to be every genre of game, gets none of them right.

Summary: If you don't play warcraft....start...........NOW
Review: Where to begin? Well, I've played all the warcraft games, including the expansions. This game is the apex of all that real time strategy. Also, it gives you 4 races, including the standard human and orc races. Humans still weak but that's another review :P The graphics are choice for this title; everything is done in 3d which make things look a little more realistic. There is a wide diversity of units which makes it a little more fun to play. The spell effects are dazzling. There is a new feature in this version. I'll call it the "hero system." This is a system in which you are given a single, or sometimes 2 or 3, heros which can be leveled and given powers like in any RPG. Leveling also increases their stats. There are many plot twists within the warcraft world which just makes you want to keep playing until you know everything..........EVERYTHING! All in all, this is a really strong title and I highly recommend this game to anyone who is into fantasy/rpg games or strategy games. Such examples would be Starcraft with the expansion Brood War and also Warcraft 1 and 2.

Summary: Terrible!
Review: If you are a action/ strategy gamer- this isn't the game for you! The graphics are too intense for a slower computer and the gameplay is basically the same thing as warcraft II. Get empire earth instead!

Summary: A great new addition for those who loved Warcraft and War2.
Review: This is a great game, if you played the others, you will not be lost at all, the sounds and gameplay is right out of the first one, only this time around, Blizzard adds "heroes" which are Dungeons and Dragon's style characters which can be leveled up and have magic powers. The gameplay is very user-friendly once you get use to the format. You'll never go back to Warcraft II, I guarentee it.

Summary: Would be a good game if I could get it to work.
Review: WarcraftIII Reign of Chaos, would be a good game if I could just get it to run correctly. I didn't care much for the stubby 3D characters and liked the old versions best but, it was still ok. I had to try four times in order to even get it to install on my machine and, even after it installed it ran unstable at best and crashed more times than it was worth. I spent over an hour on the phone with a Blizzard rep and both of us combined couldnot get the game to work right. So all I have done is to spend close to [$$$] for a game and probably another [$$$] for a long distance call to tech support and, all I have for this is a great big 0. NOTHING. This is it for me. I won't be buying any more Blizzard products in the future.

Summary: The only thing that matters is... is it fun?
Review: And the answer to that is a resounding HELL YEAH!

Think Warcraft 2. Think Starcraft. Now merge them together, add in some factors such as smaller armies, more micromanagement, and semi-3D effects and voila - you have Warcraft 3.

Warcraft 3 is a true sequel, it has that tile ambience, you can make farm walls, and units collide with each other making melee and long range units interesting.

Then there is the subject of micromanagement. Yes, fights require micromanagement to be truly effective. But if you think about it, Warcraft 2 also had micromanagement - in order to amass a HUGE army, we always had to go back to the buildings, create the units, and control a dozen groups at a time. Blizzard simply shifted the micromanagement from the unit creation to the actual battle. Now, instead of micromanaging the unit production, we are casting spells, healing, directing attacks, which in my opinion is more fun. Large armies are no longer an option because of the new upkeep factor.

Blizzard did a great job. The bottom line is, this game is fun, it is certainly reminiscent of Warcraft 2, and definitely worth the high price tag.

Summary: It was good. And that's about it.
Review: I bought this game with no expectations because I had never played previous Star/Warcraft games, but I have to say I'm a little disappointed. The system is somewhat weak compared to games like Age of Empires. The population cap is extremely annoying, as you can only produce about 20 fighting units. You'd think they would have figured out how to group characters (for example, in Age of Empires you could assign a selected group a number, and just hit that number at any time to switch to the group) or at least be able to control more than 12 units at a time. This causes your army to attack in segments and can quickly put a stop to any "tactic" you decide to use. This is very restricting in free-for-alls involving many players.

Which brings me to my next point: multiplayer. This is where the game really shines. I haven't had any problems with Battlenet so far, and the various scenarios and options lend some variety to the experience. It's easy to lose yourself in WarCraft 3 when playing against other humans.

Overall, the graphics are good but not fantastic, but this is usually how it is for RTS's. The gameplay itself is very simple and can be mastered very quickly. The races are varied in skill, architecture, units, and abilities. The single-player experience left much to be desired in my opinion. The plot was good and the hero characters interesting, but it just didn't hold my attention.

On a final note, this one is worth buying just for the online possibility. It's good, but nothing revolutionary.

Review: This was a great game, with maximum replayability due to Warcraft Editor wich enables you to create your own maps and change nearly every single aspect of the game and play it and share it with others on BattleNet. The game is a magnificient work of art near on the verge of near perfectness. What more do I need to say? Find out by yourself!
