Summary: Nice Improvement from SC 2000
Review: I read the reviews below that panned this game as a weak improvement from Sim City 2000, and I disagree. Yes, SC2000 is a great game, but SC3000 is much more realistic and challenging. It is much more difficult to create profitable cities - and that may be why others did not like this game. SC3000 requires a lot more game time to get your city going, and even if you know the cheat codes to get more cash - that will be no guarantee you succeed as mayor.

In all I love this game and recommended it to those who like Sims.

Summary: Solid
Review: Remarkably detailed in just about every way you can think of. Outstanding graphics. Simple interface. Easy to read maps and graphs to help analyze your city. Riots, fires, earthquakes, tornadoes, alien attacks, water pollution, air pollution, traffic jams, selling utilities to neighboring cities, ordinances for water meters and stairwell lighting, taxes, loans, bus stops, subways, the list goes on and on. What more could you want? Get rid of that hideous background music!

Summary: Much Better
Review: This is way better than any other sim game out there the best things about it are 3d buildings and more control over your city.

Summary: Breath Taking
Review: If you have SC2K, your in for a surprise with this one. The detail lets you cover your Sims down to the last child. In one word, it's outstanding. There are a few drawbacks. The Sims complain about almost everything, from a 5% tax to not having high tech jobs that you can't give them. Despite this, I definately recommend you pick up this game. It's a real power trip!

Summary: Spawling
Review: Perhaps SC3K's main problem is that it is far too detailed. Even on a speedy top-end machine the screen will fill with portions of white if you try to scroll at one of higher resolutions. Perhaps this is also SC3K's main virtue - the fact that you can see down to the last person in your metropolis. Whatever you say, despite the game's vast graphical and not-so-vast strategic advances, it failed to do what the fans of the series held closest to their hearts - personalization. The city develops completely at random within your zonal confines - you cannot make a candleshop district, a Downtown, or anything of the sort. You cannot name streets, despite the fact that you place them yourself. The papers mention you rarely and glancingly, at best, preferring to metion senseless rock bands (whose names you cannot supply either) or some other uneventful thing. The advisors are as helpful as ever - specifically, useless. They either take no notice of the trouble befalling your city, or they take notice of something very minor and blow it up to the size of a scandal. THE 1% COMMERCIAL TAX IS KILLING THE CITY! REMOVE THE PARKING FINES! All the while industry fails to develop and a major power outage goes unnoticed.

This game is a cleaner, crisper version of SimCity 2000, perhaps an update, but in no way a new game in the series.

Summary: Fun, but for a price
Review: The next SimCity game was long awaited by Mac users, but I'm glad that it finally came. However, It's makes me wonder why it took so long considering the draw backs of the game. The graphics are EXCELLENT and the actual game itself is impressive. On the other hand, my first impression, Software MacKiev (the company that made the Mac version) let alot of things that make the interface feel like a PC stay in the game. The system requirements are VERY steep. I have a 266 Mhz iMac with 160 MB built in (normal 32 plus 128) and 160 MB virtual memory, and it still is very slugish in loading.

I would DEFINATELY buy this game, IF you have a good system: A higher end iMac or a newer PowerMac G3 or G4.

Summary: Horrible Game!
Review: When I got SC2K the game was pretty good! Much better tha SC. when SC3K I bought it ammediatly. I shouldn't have I wasted 60$ on a crapy game. The graphics are the same, yeah better buildings but who cares it dosent do jack. SC3K sucks!

Summary: One of the best games of all time!
Review: Yeah, I know. SimCity 3000 really hasn't changed from its predecessor SimCity 2000. But you have to look behind the package -- SimCity 3000 has a much stronger and detailed simulation engine. It calculates more variables than its predecessor -- city aura, for example. And the removal of that ugly and annoying newspaper in favor of the great new ticker and advisors. Ordinances play a bigger role in the simulation, too. You can have much bigger maps, and it is designed to interact with simcity.com. Pipes and subway can be laid easier, and roads look better. My only gripe is the lack of a terrain editor (but you can get an external program), and the lack of a sign tool. But, that's minor, isn't it? If Maxis released its 3d version of SimCity 3000, it'd be like running Microsoft Office 2000 on a 286. (I mean all 7 apps at once). We should be thankful that Maxis used an isometric view instead.

Summary: A Game that never gets old
Review: This is a game that just never gets old, I have played Simcity ever since the first one was released. There are so many things you can do, and it's a great way to spend spare time.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not a huge leap...
Review: Overall, SC3K is a wonderful game. It is fun to play, and challenging also.

I got an issue of my computer magazine. On the front "SIMCITY 3000" in large bold letters. I opened the mag up, and inside was a article on how excellent it was going to be. Now I have the game and think, why didn't Maxis do better? It remains the same game, much like SC2k. No graphic improvmentsand more frustrating than ever.

The good side is what a fun game it is, and always will be. You, mayor of a city, the people loving you, them hating you, its the SimCity experiance.

The thing is, that this game is excellent. It is very fun and neato. The bad thing is, is that it is too much like sc2k. SC to sc2k was a big change, but sc2k to sc3k is not. :)
