Summary: Sad sad sad
Review: This game puts you in the captains chair only to be the puppet of your officers. New meaning to the term, on rails. I give this game 2 stars only because combat did raise my blood pressure.

Download the demo, avoid the game.

Summary: Bridge Commander is Much Better!
Review: While this game appears promising initially, upon more extended play it quickly fails to deliver in a very satisfying way. Leaving the bugs mentioned in other reviews aside, the actual gameplay is not that much fun. You are in a two-dimensional universe and the "fighting" really takes place mostly by turning your ship left and right in 2D and adjusting the speed of your ship. As a result, the fights get really, really, really drawn out, and become rather monotonous and boring fairly quickly. The campaign mode is also somewhat frustrating, as the hex map is cumbersome and relatively uninteresting (you can't navigate easily as the hexes aren't numbered, and there are no cut scenes or other cinematics to add life to the various missions -- the information we have on a given hex is limited to a few lines of text on the screen ... pretty dull). The only upsides I can see to this game are (1) the number of ships and (2) the customization feature whereby one can customize the systems on one's ship. Other than that, Bridge Commander is hands down a better game because you are moving in 3D in battles that are more fun, interesting and faster-paced. And the campaign feature in BC beats this one hands-down any day. At the price, you can do much better than this game, and if you are looking for a fairly up-to-date TNG game, I would recommend Bridge Commander over this one.

Summary: Kobayashi Maru
Review: I loved SFC I. Empires at war was a game I really wanted to like. Really. It looks to be about the game game, with a better dynaverse and improved this and that. However, I could barely get the game to work. I downloaded the patch, searched and posted a decent smattering of questions online at a bunch of forums, including Tandrens. When I finally got everything working (Took over a week, btw.) I finally got into the game itself. Hooray, right? Wrong. On my first mission, I had to stop a pirate frigate. I kept shooting at the pirate's ship, lauched every missile I had, send all my shuttles against him. No luck. I spent about a half-hour trying to blow the damn thing up. I could barely make a dent in his shields. WTH! This was the first mission. With a working knowledge of SFC I, I should have had a decently easy time of doing it. But after I gave up, I tried a new campaign, with the same results. I've been told the patch should take care of this, but for some reason it doesn't. At least not for me. I also, just from looking at it for the ten minutes I've spent not wasting my time trying to hurt the godlike pirates, think the dynaverse looks pretty bland. You can't tell what system are where, there's no info on them, nada. Anyway, this game sits on my shelf, mocking me. I know I could like it, if it would work right, but it won't. Hopefully SFC III will be less of a hassle, and I can get back to enjoying Taldren's Star Trek games. Of course, now they work for Activision, publishers of such horrid Star Trek games as Hidden Evil and Armada. There is no justice. Hopefully someone will grace us with Star Trek Titles set in the TOS era in the future. Or at least I hope so. So to sum up: Stay away from SFC II, unless you have a good week or so to get it working right.

Summary: Armada 2
Review: This game is awsome dont get me wrong, but they made a few things worse than before, like, The Ship resolution is terrible, all the ships are so tiny you almost lose them on the screen, and why did they try to improve the cinematic window? yah, like anybodys going to try to fight in that mode? give me a break it was ok the way it was. There are a lot more ships in the game though, reduceing the mirror affect that the first game had.BUT WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THE TACTICAL FUSION CUBE? This ship is toatally invincible, why you should kill any borg enemy you have before they have the chance to build this thing. One of my other problems is what happened to the ships? are they made of paper now? in the old game every ship could take a moderate beating, now, if youre trying to deliver a subspace explosive to youre enemy's base, there bases puney little pulse lasers can take it out in one shot! Overall this game is definetly worth the price but the shuold of left the strenghts the old game had intact...

Summary: Awsome
Review: I loved Star Trek Armada 2 it had everything that armada was missing the story line was perfect it kept u wanting to see more and keep playing for hours the graphics were awsome and the ability to upgrade ship systems brought the game up a level so new ships allows for a wide variety of different type of attack forces all though none of the new ships really had any special ability except for the transporter ship with the transporter attack other then that I loved it I suggest this for anyone look for action and constant managing a fleet for the unexpected

Summary: Windows XP and possable ME
Review: this game won't normally work on Windows XP and possable ME because it was designed for windows 95 but will run on 98 not al whole lot of difference between the 2 except mostly upgraded to except the newer tech at the time but they way XP is set up it won't run properly on XP because it is just reconfigured in numerious ways (thanx Microsoft) so it can better use your computers hardware better well atleast thats what microsoft will say so personally I don't like XP that much have had too much problems between 3Dfx cards and not being able to intergrate an older hard drive into the computer that was using XP

Summary: Not a great game
Review: Bought this game because the back of the box advertised "Voice Activated Technology" but no instructions IN the box explain anything about it. During missions Captain Picard and other crew members can speak at the same time making it VERY confusing in understanding what what was just said. Graphics are not very good and seem to be out of focus sometime. At times to many commands are required at the same time and my hands are just not that fast on a keyboard AND mouse at the same time.

Summary: If I only knew
Review: If I only knew what I was buying, I would have given the money to a charity. No, not to a charity, to the first person I meet on the street.

It took me about 3 hours to understand that that was it, this WAS the game, and I was not going to get anything else. By that time my eyes were closing and I was falling asleep.

This is what you do in the game - you listen to endless and pointless conversations directing you to do something, you go and do it, and when all of a sudden time comes to shoot, you shoot and run and shoot and run and turn and shoot and run and shoot and run and shoot and turn and run and shoot and run and run and run and shoot and shoot and shoot and turn and run.

This game cannot be called strategic, because you are totally limited in choices, it cannot be called arcade because it is not only slow, there is no word in the language to say how slow it is. What kind of game is it?? I don't know...
