Rating: Summary: Great but with flaws Review: The game is a great game but it has its flaws... 1) System Hog 2) Graphics are kinda dated 3) People can walk through some buildings The great points of this game is the balance. It is very balanced. The resource management is awesome. In other rts games after a couple of minutes you never build the soliders anymore but in this game every unit is important and it has its advantages and disadvantages. The multiplay is great but you must have a good system with at least 56k connection to play. The camera just takes alittle bit of practice to get use to. I dont see why people are complaining about it, its the same thing as Myth and people didnt have a problem with that camera. (Its identical.) Take the time learn the game, love it. And hopefully Lucasarts will patch this game to fix its downfalls....
Rating: Summary: Not up to it's price Review: The only reason I did not gave it one star is because I am a real Star Wars fan. The gameplay graphics are ok but could have been a lot better.Te soundtrack is quite innovative but the loops are simply annoying. Interface could have been a lot easier, specially construction interface. The command point system is interesting but it means once you start loosing the battle it is extremely difficult to turn the tide, even with superb strategies. On the oher hand Force Commander improves the Star Wars experience and the cutscenes are some of the best I have ever seen. But besides this, I have paid $20 for games of more less the same quality. Somebody should tell LucasArts that the fact it is part of the Star Wars Universe does not mean he can deliver a mediocre product and the public will accept it. I had enough with Rebellion and now this...
Rating: Summary: Excellent work, Lucasarts Review: When I got Force Commander I was skeptical at first. But once i got playing it I was blown out of my shoes. I have all the new strategy games but Force Commander towers over them all. The command points are very creative and the cutscenes are fantastic. I don't really have a fast computer, but that does'nt take the fun out of it. Any person that looks at this game questionably, look at this review again. BUY FORCE COMMANDER!
Rating: Summary: we"ve spotted imperial walkers on the north ridge! Review: there is only one thing i can say about FORCE COMMANDER- AWESOME! from the minute you put the game into your computer and the credits roll, you're drawn into the star wars universe! the graphics are incredible, from the walking dewbacks to the stormtroopers firing their blasters at tusken raiders, they are breathtaking! I've only had it less than 24hrs and i am hooked! The only way lucasarts could top this one is if they released a cd soundtrack of the games music. again, the music is awesome! the classic john williams score combined with modern day techno and metal. it is like star wars nine inch nails! hope this review helped you out and buy force commander- you'll be glad you did-trust me and may the force be with you!
Rating: Summary: Not pleased Review: For the steep requirments you would think that the game would look better. The combat interface takes up too much of the screen. Units walk right through buildings. The command point system is a pain in the ass. Most battles come down to a war of attrition with very little strategy comming into play. I would have given this game only one star but I am a big Star Wars fan.
Rating: Summary: Good but room for Improvement Review: The game play is smooth and fairley easy to get a hang of. However, the game lacks in the ammount of vehicles and units you can build. Also, I have noticed a few bugs when trying to move units as battle groups. All in all it is a good game that could be made a lot better with Total Anihilation like patches.
Rating: Summary: Not worth it. Review: Lucasarts built up the game like it was going to be this amazing thing, but the result let me down. Terrain and buildings do not have solid properties which allows units to walk through them. This combined with the non-detailed interface adds up to a dissapointment.
Rating: Summary: Frustrating Camera Views Review: Definitely dissapointed in this game. First, you must have a pretty powerful PC to run this game smoothly. I have a 600 mhz PIII and 32 megabyte 4X AGP card and it still pauses from time to time. More importantly, the game play is extremely frustrating because of the 3D engine. Zoom in and you can't tell what's happening around you. Zoom out and you can't distinguish your units from each other. You'll press the keyboard about ten times to get the camera into the view you want. Basically, it's very hard to find the right camera angle. Also frustrating is the fact that the control screen takes up the entire bottom third of the screen. On the positive side, it's a Star Wars game, the 3D environment looks cool, and it's somewhat fun. I would recommend trying out a demo first, if one exists.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the money Review: I was eagerly anticipating the release of this game. My system more than meets the hardware requirements, but I must say that it's hard to enjoy a game when it continually locks up less than 3 minutes into playing it. Save your money!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing at Best Review: Looks like LucasArts has done it again: a great storyline and great cutscenes mixed with a slow, akward interface. Sure, the colors are all there and 3D is everywhere, but zooming in closer shows the boxy troops and vehicles, with very low detail compared to many games of today. The learning curve is steep, and new players can't even adjust the difficulty. In conclusion: hard to control, hard to see what's happening, and hard to think why LucasArts couldn't have done better.
