Rating: Summary: It's alright, but not the best. Review: When I first got the game, it was "Wow", thinking it would be the best. I have to admit, it is better than some games I have already played, but it just didn't have the zing of the other C&C games. The computer stinks. I could beat them playing as GDI(good guys), which is hard because NOD(bad guys) has all the best vehicles, units, and structures. I love the Missile Silo. Talk about blitzcrieg on your opponent!! If you want to have about a 65% chance of winning, stick with NOD. I wouldn't recommend the missions, because they are all too easy or all too hard. I stick to skirmish and internet games myself. I might venture to say that it is worth an inexpencive look. Maybe even borrowing it from a friend. All-in-all, I would have to say that the graphics are superb, stories are bad, sound is so-so, and gameplay is dependant on which side you choose(NOD being better).
Rating: Summary: Great game!!!!!! Review: I just don't understand those who want to give this game low marks. This is a game that when modified with the numerous free online downloads is as good a game as any out there. To start this game is a sequel to command and conquer not red alert which is the much more popular westwood game. That was a problem for some who just assumed that westwood would come out with a red alert sequel first. Never the less there are features in this game that improve upon the original. The original CnC did not allow for skirmish play against the Al opponent only missions. This game does allow multiplayer play and the Al is very competitive at the more difficult levels. There are some other small extras as well such as more colors to choose from and the oppportunity to make a map right at the game menu. Just set your specifications and it makes a map that's meets those specs. One new feature i love is the option for a deployable mcv. This allows you to start a base and then move your command center to another area. This game is also much more strategic then the originas CnC. The maps are spectacular with many cliffs, ridges and rivers and lakes. No game has better maps and terrain. I wish i could say the same about the units though. While the structures are creative and attractive the units look down right bizarre and cartoonish. Some may like this but i don't. The colors of the units and structures are rich and pleasant but some units are too strange looking to enjoy. The infantry look alright but the tanks take some getting used to. Another unfortunate aspect of the game is that the nod is given the more strategic interesting units. The gdi has more size and firpower while the nod is more sneaky with it's burrowing apcs and missles. One feature i like is the infantryman. The disc throwers for the gdi or the rocket guys for the nod have armor that makes them much more competitive in battles than a rocket guy or grenade guy in red alert. You can't just run over these infantrymen. A group of 10 disc throwers can do serious damage to a camp if allowed to sneak in or they can quickly do away with a harvester. The basic play is bascially the same as CnC or red alert but there are enough new features here to make it a worthwhile purchase at $20. Overall i would rate the stock tiberian game that comes from the store as a 3.7 to 3.8 stars. A good solid game. What makes this a truly great game is the numerous free downloads and upgrades available both at westwood.com and many other sites. On the program menu for the game is an upgrade option from westwood that helps to work out some of the bugs and improves the game. In addition there are literally dozens of web-sites devoted entirely or in part to this game that provides an incredible array of free downloads that provide game modifications, new maps, units and game tips ect. Also included are opportunites to join klans and clubs, things that really enhance the enjoyment of the game. One download called "resistance 2.0" will add 50% more speed and firepower and will double the number of units and structures. You can find this download at tsden.com. It is these additional modifications and options that convert a good game into a fantastic game. These upgrades and downloads are absolutely free and require very little time, effort or computer savyness to add and if you're ambitious you can do your own modifications. The only complaint i would have of my modified game is that there is no navy. All these wonderful maps with water but no opportunity to make destroyers or crusiers like in red alert or total annililation. .................socks
Rating: Summary: A good stratedgy game Review: Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun is one of the best games in the command and conquer series. There are many missions for each side and the game has a very complex story line with many interesting twists.(thats 1 star) The game also has pretty good graphics. You can see all of the unit pretty well and they move realistically. The terrain is also very detailed. If a large explosion occur the area where it happened will become deformed.(thats 2 stars)The 3rd star goes to the fact that their are alot of new units. Their would be a fourth star but all of the units on one side have a perfectly equal opposing unit on the other side with the exeption if the special units.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: Before I got this game, I had heard a lot about how bad it was. Then I got it for my birthday, and it was pretty good. I liked the campaign missions, but mostly I liked the skirmishing. It did have very different tanks, ships, and infrantry. I didn't find this bad, though. It was different, but it was still a really good game. My 2 complaints, were the music and graphics. The graphics, in my opinion, were pretty bad. However, this does not stop a game from being bad. But the music was horrible. I have no earthly idea, why the game came with a music CD. But overall, the gameplay was good.
Rating: Summary: Tiberian Sunset Review: The original "Command & Conquer" was a Hall of Fame game in its day. The sequel, "Red Alert," was interesting, but fell short of the original. C&C:Tiberian Sun continues this decline. For fans of real-time strategy, Tiberian Sun is still a good game and worth a dive into the bargain bin. Tiberian Sun, however, will disappoint those who enjoyed the well-balanced original C&C with its fun plot-line and great soundtrack. Tiberian Sun boils down to the same basic formula... gather resources, build units, destroy opponent. Neither the cut scenes nor the missions really immerse the player in the game. The new units and scenery are, at best, eye candy. At worst, the changes unbalance game play. It's easier to win as the Nod (bad guys). The Nod artillery weapon is relatively inexpensive and incredibly deadly. The Nod also has a burrowing personnel carrier that makes it easy to infiltrate your oppponent's base. Gameplay is not helped by lackluster computer AI. The game is best played in multi-player mode rather than solo against the dull-witted PC. The sound and graphics are not remarkable. The gameplay is adequate, but lacks the edge, tension and creativity of the previous editions of this now venerable classic. If you enjoy RTS games, Tiberian Sun is worth an inexpensive look, but not much more.
Rating: Summary: An Amazing Game but repitive Review: When i got this game i loved it. It had really good graphics and the sound was amazing. Each mission was in a different area, but it was the same main idea. I love the multiplayer where you just try and kill the other team. It is really hard, but it challenges you to become very good. Overall it was very good, but the mission objectives were pretty much the same.
Rating: Summary: Nothing Special Review: If you have already played the original C&C and Red Alert, this game will not be too exciting. I just got done beating both GDI and NOD, and I am still not a fan of the new units. All you need to do is create engineers, and the game is simple. I spent $20 for this game, and I still feel that I didn't get my money's worth.
Rating: Summary: Its stood up and fought. Review: I bought this game when it first came out in the summer of 1999. When I first got it I thought it was real good, even better than its the 2 previous games. Your (and the computer's)AI is much smarter than in the origianal 2, so if you send your units 10 feet away they wont take the senic route around a moutain! I also like how the terain modifies movment. If your APC or Recon Bike go down hill they'll go faster, and up hill they'll go slower (I'm not just talking about designed hills like in the original where it looks like a flat surfac, and acts like one, but it is actually a hill). Also, by using heavy fire power (i.e. the NOD Multi-Missle) you can alter the terrain thus macking it much harder to travel by, witch can be a serrious advantage. Also, with all these new gameplay features there is another upgrade, the ability to get vehicles rather soon. In the original you couln't get vehicles till the 4th or 5th mission and it was usually pretty hard to get there. In Tiberium Sun it may take you a while (depenging on the diffoiculty) but pretty much anybody can get at least to vehicle missions (if you have it on easy). But with all these new features come a price, the limit of good missions and the difficulty to access them. When I finially found a mission that I wanted to play over it took me forever to get it again (I forgot to save it by itself and I had to replay the game). Also, the skirmish mode, meant for just having fun with whatever kind of units you want, is rather weak. It takes away some units cool abilities, like the Mamoth MKII's machine guns witch are perfect for mowing down all those troops (only avaliable in the ploted game and is still rather weak when compared to the description of it in the game manual), witch is mesteriously absent. OH well, my opinion is that if you liked the first 2 (not for the anoying WWII style of rush with as many infantry gunners as possible) than you'll probably like this one. I'm warning you though, after you beat the game it gets really boring.
Rating: Summary: Excellent game Review: From the moment I saw the original trailer of this game, I wanted it. Everytime that it got delayed, I was very disappointed. The day came when it arrived and I love this game. Now, I can understand some of the disappointments from people. The game was surrounded by so much hype and expectations became extremely high. I was disappointed too when several features that were suppose to be included in the game were cut, but everything else about it rocks. It's still better than the majority of crap that is out there. It's truly a classic and just as addicting as the rest of the C&C series. It's simple enough that a novice can play it and complex enough to devise many different strategies. The gameplay is a tough act to follow. A game may have the latest in visual technology and have cool surround sound, but if it's not fun to play then why bother. This is one game with superior gameplay. In conclusion, it was short of people's overhyped expectation, but it's still way above average in terms of fun, which is the main reason we play games.
