Summary: Fun Starship Shooter, havn't discovered real strategy.
Review: The graphics and play is great! It is sort of a Quake 3 Arena first person shooter, with StarShips instead of people.

I am used to StarFleet Command, that has much more strategy involved to defeat your opponent(s). So far, this appears to be pretty much keep then in your sites and keep firing.

But, it has only been out for two days not, so maybe a more strategic game will evolve, but I don't see it yet. Still great fun, great graphics, good ship control and weapons fire.

Summary: Based on DEMO (again)
Review: Fired up the DEMO and at first wasn't that impressed. They start off with someone 'on screen' and the mouth movement does not sync up with what they're saying. So I didn't expect much out of the rest of the game. Fortunately I was surprised. The gameplay is very cool. Sitting in the Captain's Chair handing out orders while the ship is in peril and it's up to you to make all the decisions. If you liked Star Trek Next Generation you should enjoy this game. Romulan foes and Klingon friends, good stuff. Graphics seem right on too.

Can't wait for the full version.

Summary: Star Trek Bridge Commander
Review: I`ve been waiting for a product like this for a long time!

Summary: My Review
Review: 'Star Trek' is one of the largest syndicated franchises in history. With 5 series, nine movies, millions of fans and billions of dollars worth of merchandise, this show is practically immortal: it's not going to cease production for a very long time. Though 'Star Trek' hit television by storm, this wasn't the case with computers. Despite more than 10 'Trek' games, none of them truly captured the essence of the show. Also, the combat was mainly comprised of fighter-type vessels: not 'Star Trek' at all.

Suddenly, though, in late 1999, the acclaimed PC-game developer Larry Holland and his company 'Totally Games' began a project that would ultimately result in not only the best Star Trek game ever, but also the best game period.

Since I have been following this game for nearly 3 years, you can bet I had extremely high expectations, but when I loaded up the game I was so impressed and awed that my next 8 hours were devoted solely to experiencing the magic that 'Bridge Commander' is brimming with. With a 700-page storyline written by the famous writer Dorothy Fontana, awesome graphics, wonderful sounds and music, over 15 ships, 6 races, amazingly authentic bridges, a new race and hundreds of other fantastic features, 'Bridge Commander' is the most immersing and dazzling game I have ever played. This piece of heaven went way beyond my expectations!

Words can't do justice what both Trekkies, and non-Trekkies feel like as they watch their ship, the USS Dauntless, glide smoothly out of drydock in the first mission! You have your own crew who you can talk to and get to even meet Picard and Data! Almost everything in 'Bridge Commander' was taken out from the Paramount archives so you can bet that this game is as authentic as it will ever get! Voice control is optional, as is the ability to construct your very own ships from the SDK which will be released soon!

One sentiment that truly describes this masterpiece is: WOW! If you haven't bought 'Bridge Commander' yet, download the demo to see if you like it and if you do, run down to your local pc-gaming store and purchase...ecstasy! I'm an avid gamer and have over 50 pc games: 'Unreal', 'Wolfenstein', 'The Sims', 'Medal of Honour: Allied Assault' and tons of others but 'Bridge Commander' beats them all by a mile! I simply can't say enough about this game!

Summary: Number 1 you have the conn
Review: This is amazing you actually sit in a "Picard" type role and are able to do wahtever you please with your ship. It is amazing Ive only played the demo but voice activation! WOW. The only 2 downfalls I see so far are #1 you get relieved of command if you try to blow up friendlies (I got bored with the demo) and #2 so far there is a lack of joystick control. I know that sounds trivial but in Star Trek #9 they had a "MAnual Steering Column" and yes im a trekkie

Summary: Make it so....
Review: I played the demo for the past few days and it was very enjoyable. This is the only game of the franchise where you can act like a true Captain and sit back barking orders to your crew. The interface looks good and functions very well. The graphics are crisp and the voices are very well done. I'll have to reserve final judgment until I get the full version (it better not have a lot of bugs!).

After your Captain is killed you (the first officer) is promoted to Captain. It's your job to discover why your beloved captain was killed and solve mysteries along the way. There are plenty of battles included to keep your chief engineer busy, you tactical officer stressed and your new first officer wondering if its not to late for her to transfer off your ship.

The game plays out like a good episode from The Next Generation series.

Note, I'm giving the DEMO 4 Stars.

Summary: Based on demo - it's ok
Review: Bridge Commander would have been really stunning if it had come out before games like Independence War, Klingon Academy and Dominion War. The game feels essentially like a merging of these 3 games.

What is novel about this game is that you get a 1st person view from the captain's chair. Once that wears off (15mins- the time it takes to play the demo,) the game doesn't seem to be very interesting. I am basing this on playing the "instant action" games after playing the intro storyline part of the game.

Pros of the game:

- implementation appears good, worked rightaway on my laptop
- graphics appears decent
- voice overs are good
- character rendering is ok
- basically there is nothing offensive about the game

Cons of the game:

- not a whole lot that's new
- commanding from the captain's chair is cute until you really have to do battle, then you're hunting for the short cut keys.
- weak compared to other Star Trek games in terms of strategic components.

Summary: The Best Star Trek Game Ever
Review: This Game in wonderful. The graphics are the best in the space simulation world at this time. Each ship looks like you pulled it out of real life. The crew that you control look real, they turn to talk to you, if your ship is hit, they fall out of their chairs. This is the best computer game I have played ever.

Summary: 3 1/2 stars
Review: I bought this after playing the demo a while back. After several weeks of gameplay, I have come to find things that I really like, and I really hate.
Like:
Better graphics than original Armada
True 3D
Good sound effects
Lets you play most famous ship classes
Decent cross section of Trek species
Good pacing

Dislike
AI (both enemy and your own units) is a dumb as a brick. I don't know how many times I've heard "Ship has entered a dangerous nebula. Ship has entered a dangerous nebula." even though the nice, safe path is clearly nearby.
Species 8472 is too weak. In the TV show, they sent the Borg packing. Come game time, they can be thumped by a couple of low-range Federation ships. What gives?
Rescource management is a bit spotty.

All in all, this is a decent RTS game, definiately meant for the hardcore Trekkie or maybe a RTS fan.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: I think this is the best game ever! It's so realistic & the graphics are SWEET! Star Trek fans (like myself) will go CRAZY over it and i've only played the demo! It's just like your there! BUT-I do have one problem. TO ALL THE DISTRIBUTORS: GET THE FULL VERSION OUT FASTER-IT'S KILLING ME!
