Summary: This Game Exceeded my Expectations
Review: This game has the best graphics that I have ever seen in a Star Trek Game. It is also very addictive, and has an excellent interesting story line to go along with it. I recommend it to everybody, not only Trekkers.

Summary: One Frustration After the Other
Review: I've had no luck at all getting this game to run. My system meets or exceeds all of the recommended requirements; still the game locks up constantly! This was a poor marketing decision on the part of Activsion--the game is incompatible with too many system configurations to be enjoyed. I've read many message boards claiming that the available patches do nothing but reduce the graphics and sound qualities of the game. And those were the few that the patch actually worked for! A HUGE WASTE OF MONEY! Spend your $45 on something else!

Summary: Great interface/graphics, but only average gameplay
Review: The ships are gorgeously rendered, and the Enterprise even has ncc-1701-e written on the hull. Scaling for Borg ships a bit too small, however. Sound effects and music are top notch, and the voices of actors Patrick Stewart and Michael Dorn add authenticity to the game.

Gameplay became repetative and boring after awhile, with the only strategy being "whoever has the biggest and baddest ships wins." Its essentially warcraft 2 in space.

Overall an entertaining game and a must have for trekkies, and certainly better than Command and Conquer, but I still like warcraft 2 and starcraft better.

Summary: A few flaws but it's mainly well done
Review: I would like you to read this review all through before judging weather you liked it or not!

I'm a Trek fan so i have most of the Star Trek games and as you know who have played those games they are not always so good .... but this one is an exeption, the sound is clean and good the graphics are good and the camera is extremely good, actually there is only one thing that is IN the game that bothers me and that is the size diffrence between a Borg Cube wich is supposed to be the ultimate ship and should be able to destroy two Sovereigns and is supposed to be much bigger...... it dosen't look that big in the game, that's the only flaw in what's in the game but there are a few things that are missing e.g. more ships u can only build 6 ships ..... (7 in some occasions) and of course more missions.... i finished this game in one night and it was very easy so yes it's very easy and also i would like to see more famous ships and maybe Deep Space Nine, these are very few flaws compared to many games,

i do like this game and i think everybody that like strategy games will like this one...... it's relatively stable and the graphics are great .... it's fun and i enjoyed it all the time playing!

Thank you for reading and please send me an email if you don't like the review or if you wan't to point out what i missed

Summary: A good Star Trek
Review: It is very similar to other RTS games, but the Star Trek theme makes that somewhat forgiveable. The gameplay is good and the interface is easy to learn, but the highlight is the storyline. The story running through all the missions is interesting, engaging, and plausible.

One criticism is that the game has crashed on me a few times at the end of missions (during cut scenes) and I have to replay the whole mission (or go back to my last saved positions).

Summary: Unoriginal but enjoyable realtime-strategy Star Trek game
Review: When I first posted a review of this game ..., over a year ago, I gave it 1 star due to bugs, pathing issues and the overall lack of originality. The game was hard to enjoy, and would have been a nightmare for computing novices.

While the game is still buggy, a patch has been released that adds a save feature for the Instant Action (i.e. non-campaign) games. No more losing an hour's worth of work when Armada crashes back to the desktop (which it still does all too often, although not as much as before). Armada users have also helped to improve the game, mainly by creating clever maps for online play, ones which emphasize fleet battles instead of base construction. Since these exciting skirmishes typically last less than 10 minutes, Armada doesn't have time to crash on you!

The AI utilized by the game has also been improved (it resorts to cheating on the higher levels - building units much faster than you ever can), allowing the computer to keep up with a skilled human player. Pathing is still an issue - ships routinely pick stupid routes when trying to get from point A to point B - but with the game's other annoyances mitigated or eliminated that's hardly a showstopper.

Armada looks nice - weapons bounce off of shields, the sound effects are all Trek-accurate, and it even features some of the actors from TNG and DS9. Still, I don't understand why the system is wasting horsepower on the useless ability to "zoom in" on the action. I always play the game with the screen "zoomed-out" to the widest field of view possible, as does everybody else. While zooming in on a battle provides some amusing eye candy the first couple of times ("Wow. Look what computers can do today!"), it can't possibly be worth burning a single CPU cycle on. Save it for a demo or something, because Armada often bogs down when there are lots of ships & stations in play, and that's where the processing power should be going.

I said before this would be the last Activision product I'd *ever* buy. Armada is now solid enough (and stable enough) that'd I'd seriously consider buying the upcoming sequel Armada II, provided early adopters give it a thumbs-up shortly after release, or alternately once all of the necessary patches have been released. But I'm certainly not going to go thru the "paying beta tester" experience again - once was more than enough (especially given Armada's high price). Look before you leap.

There are better RTS games out there, but Armada is still the best Star Trek game on the market. I probably wouldn't waste my money on Armada I at this point (or at this price) with Armada II slated for release this quarter, but once this puppy hits the clearance racks it'll represent a solid value, especially for those Trekkies who won't be able to afford Armada II this holiday season.

Summary: This Game Is Certianly Worthwhile
Review: All Star Trek Games used to suck. But this one is good. It is worth every penny of it. So get this game before you get assmilated!

Summary: The Best Star Trek Game Ever!
Review: WOW! This is the best Star Trek game out there! Star Trek fans or just strategy lovers must buy this game! There are 4 different story lines to follow that all interweave together. There are many different buildings, ships, and weapons for you to build and destroy with! You will just keep playing this game for hours!

Summary: Could Be Better
Review: I hope saying something bad about this game doesn't get me torn apart by the barbarian hordes of the species called a "trekkie." Star Trek Armada strikes me as a bit of a Starcraft clone. However, unlike Starcraft the graphics are good. Armada is somewhere between the great interface and graphics of Homeworld and the easy to control, somewhat cartoon-like Starcraft units. The game has the feel of being close to completion, but rushed to the shelves before the 2d interface becomes obsolete. If you want a good game the I suggest you buy Armada. However, if you want a better game then wait a bit longer or go buy Homeworld.

Summary: Awesome! With Some Few Minor Setbacks
Review: This game is awesome! It truly brings out the trekkie in everyone. It get extremely hard at times. Here are a few cheat codes I picked up:

kobayashimaru - Completes your mission for you and jumps to the following mission.

showmethemoney - 2800 more dilithium points

canofwhoopass - increases maximum number of officers. reduces upgrading and need to build starbases ( I didn't get any results after I typed this in )

To use these codes, press enter in the game. At the bottom above the control bar thing on the left, it will say yourname: then type in the code and hit enter.

One of the minor setbacks are it's not compatible with allot of video cards/chips. I have a SiS530 and it blinks during the game. It was annoying at first but you get used to it.

The last setback is, you need to close everything or the bar at the bottom turns black and you can see where the ships are on the map but all you can really see if you try and get them big up top is moons. That's it.

I've seen people say it's buggy. Well, Activision put a patch on the Armada website that fixes some bugs. It upgrades Armada to v1.1b.

Overall, This is a really nice game. I'd recommend it to any trekkie, new or expert.
