Summary: One of the best Trek games but still not brilliant
Review: Most Star Trek games turn out to be pretty useless (they do release a multitude every year) but Armada is pretty good as a real time strategy game.

The graphics are really beautiful, especially the cut scenes. You can imagine what a "Freescape 2" version of Star Trek would be like. However, the game plays in 2D only unlike Homeworld which is a bit disappointing. The graphics can sometimes jerk quite easily.

The control mechanism is quite easy to get used to and makes it enjoyable to play. As for the reported bugs, I've downloaded the patch from Activision and the game is running without any problems.

As a Star Trek game it also does the business of creating the Trek universe really well. There's speach from Picard and Worf and others during the cut scenes between missions and all the ships are painstakingly recreated in great detail.

If you're a Star Trek fan and like RTS then go ahead but there are better games out there in this genre, especially Homeworld.

Review: I'm a first time buyer from here. I forgot I ordered the game, but was happy when I got. I can't wait til I get off work tonight to play it again. It was exactly as advertised. I'd order from the seller again, no doubts about it.

Summary: Incredibly Buggy
Review: There is no one out there that wants games based on Star Trek more than I, but at a minimum they must be stable to be worthy of the Star Trek brand. This game is buggy to the point where I've never played a complete game, and gave up in disgust sickened with the instabilities.
I'm running it on a supported system with a supported video card, and Activision was absolutely worthless in troubleshooting the numerous problems I faced, and I did work with them and follow their instructions, and provide them with requested information.

A definate "do not buy" - and it definately makes me think twice or thrice before throwing money away on another Activision title.

Summary: Kick ass Star Trek game.
Review: Finally there is a Star Trek game that is really good! This game is the first game that does the Star Trek name sound even better. Activision did a very good job in creating this game, they have managed to bring the Star Trek feeling to your home PC. The game takes you through five campaigns, Federation, Klingon, Romulan and the Borg. In the final campaign the first three races bind together to defeat the Borg. The storyline has been nicely woven through the game and is an important part of the game. The between games animations are great and there are very good voice overs from the original crew. The gameplay is also great, it is foing to take some getting used to, but once you are it feels great. Relatively new options such as: Scout and Search and Destroy make the game even more playable. The game looks much like Starcraft, only better. You can Zoom in to the ships so far that you can see them in full glory, it's almost like in the movies. This ofcourse is useless to play with, but it still looks great! The in-game sound is also fantastic, you can hear real voices from the series and the sound of the weapons is also great. There is just one point of comment, the game can be a little "buggy" at some times, but this is will be overcome when you download the upgrades from the Activision homepage. To Conclude all this: I strongly recommend this game to all Star Trek and RTS fans, it has all the makings of a great game. Lets all hope the next Star Trek games are as good as this one.

Summary: A short sharp shock from Activision
Review: Star Trek Armada promised to be what Trekkies had always wanted, a strategy game allowing control of the fantastic ships of the Star Trek universe. At a first glance Armada appears tto do just that. However, beneath the glamarous surface, Armada hides a rather dissapointing game play.

The graphics of Armada are fantastic, truly capturing the different ships and creatures in their best lighting, you could truly be looking at the special effects of a Star Trek episode when zoomed in. However, the gameplay is frankly, dull. The sides all have different units, but underneath they are virtually identical. While the federation Sovereign and Romulan D'deridex Warbird look completely different and have two different special weapons, otherwise they have identical shield and weapon values. The reaces each have a scout ship, which are all equally powerful, a destroyer type ship, alll equally powerful, a cruiser, all equally powerful etc.

The different special weapons hardly make up for this, and the base defences are far to powerful and effective, meaning that you need only your command centre and a few torpedo turrets to survive any attack. Also, the simplistic units mean that once you've reached the most advanced level, there is never any need for you to purchase the more primitive ships.

The campaigns ar ealso depressingly short, a mere four missions for each race then four bonus missions at the end, and the missions are dull, sparked only by a few special ships. There is no real difference between playing as any of the different races.

It's not that Star Trek Armada is a particularly bad game, it's just that there are so many ways in which it could easily be improved. We can only hope that the sequel will be more varied in units and more enjoyable in game play.

Review: I thought the game was very fun and good. You have the Federation,Borg,Romulans, and Klingons. The Ferengi, Dominion, Breen and Cardassians also make appearances. It has the habit of sometimes crashing but that doesn't happen a lot. One thing I was disappointed with is how short and easy the missions were, even with the setting on hard they were easy. The graphics were good. It has a good multiplayer connection and instant action against the computer. If you are a trekkie it wouldn't hurt you to buy it! Also the game I have does work on Windows XP.

Summary: What a Blast!
Review: I am not a big gamer, but I really enjoy Star Trek, so I figured that this might be fun. I was wrong. The game is a total blast.

Forgive me for not commenting on technical aspects because I don't know enough about it to do so. What I do know is that this is a fun and challenging game to play and to watch! The graphics are cool, the opening movie sequence is very impressive, and the "plot" for the single player game is respectable.

Patrick Stewart, Denise Crosby, Michael Dorn, and H.G. Hertzler lend their voices to the game, reprising their respective characters from "Next Generation" and "DS9", and it gives the game an excellent feel of authenticity and continuity.

I've always been a big fan of starships from the "Star Trek" shows, so that makes the game even more enjoyable. Build your fleet and send your ships into battle! The strategy aspects of the game are decent, and a good deal of micromanaging is necessary, so your skills as a gamer and a tactician all come into play.

The only suggestion that I would make is that Activision produce a follow-up package with more ships. There are a lot of great ships missing from the game. For instance, the Galaxy-class, Excelsior-class, and Miranda-class were all major parts of the TV shows, as was the original Klingon Battlecruiser. They may also benifit by adding original series ships like the Enterprise-A or the Romulan Bird-of-Prey.

I found the game fun, challenging, and worthy of the "Star Trek" name.

Summary: A marriage of the RTS genre and Star Trek can't lose.
Review: Star Trek Armada is an addictive game. After completing 20 challenging missions as the Federation, the Klingon, the Romualns, the Borg, and finally as a combined task force against a Borg invasion you'll be ready to take a crack at the online arena. You can play against up to seven other palyers and (with effort) create your own game maps, or download others maps from many different websites. You can also download mods, game modifications created by other gamers to enhance the game. These mods range from adding a singe ship to converting the Star Trek world into a clash between the Empire and the Rebels (Star Wars), or even the Federation against the Star Wars universe.
One unique and powerful attribute of this game is it's graphics engine. No matter haw many units you build, no matter how bloody the battle with explosions and the like, the game will not get sluggish or even miss a frame (however there is some lag over slow internet connections, try to play against people with low pings).
A great side effect of the popularity of this game is the proliferation of "clans". These clubs of gamers band together to make "war" against other "clans". Some clans have upwards of fifty active members, though most have around ten. ...BR>This is a must have for RTS buffs and Trekkers alike.

Summary: Star Trek Armada I
Review: When I first started playing this game, it was challenging and I found it quite interesting. I've played this game for about 3 years on and off, and I love it. However, it gets easy after a while, but dont let that keep you from enjoying this game. It's a lot more fun playing it with friends over an internet or Local Area Network connection. Have Fun!!!

Review: FIRE QUANTOM TORPEDOES!

Whoa this is a great game you've just got to get it if your a Star Trek Fan. You might not be able to tell your ships when to fire torpedoes or fire phasers but the graphics are great. I love being the borg and being able to assimalate federation ship. The controls are simple. I think it's a lot like Star Wars Rebellion, or maybe a Sim City battle ground! You build starbases, build starships like the powerful Sovergion and Nebula classes, even the borg cube. You have many different kinds of levels like mazes and wars etc.

So I might not of explained it well but i've played this game so much I'm addicted to it. OH yeah all you guys that think this game is cool There is a STAR TREK ARMADA II coming out this winter and in this one you only play as the borg, federation, and the klingnons, you get to fight the romulans, species 8472, cardassians and it has 3D depth! To get more info. ... So all I've got to say is that this is a really fun game. All you Star Trek Fans E-mail me for more info on Star Trek Armada II at roberttipton@compaq.net
