Rating: Summary: Almost as good as the real thing! Review: I love this game - the first time I played it I was on for 6 hours and couldn't believe that much time had passed! I do wish there were more options for rides and vending stands, but this is my first Sim game and I am hooked - great for young and old who are creative and like amusement parks....... just don't forget the bathrooms, like I did the first time - the guests get pretty upset!
Rating: Summary: Warning! This game may result in a loss of sleep Review: Roller Coaster Tycoon is heaps of fun. Of course there are the obvious perks like designing your own roller coasters and managing a theme park. But that's just the beginning. You can also track individual guests, name them, move them around and watch their moods change. Are they happy? Hungry? Nauseous? If you are going to be successful at this game you better make sure you know. You may think you're in charge but that's far from true. Your guests are running the show here and it's your job to keep them happy. If you don't you won't like the results. Do you have security guards? If you don't guest will break benchs and tip over trash cans. Are there seats by the more nausea inducing rides? If not your park will become far from pleasant and that will effect your park's attendance. Once you've built the park it's loads of fun just sitting back and checking individual guest's feelings. And make sure to have the rollercoasters inspected or else there might be a tragic crash resulting in the loss of innocent simulated lives. Not to mention the horror that occurs if you forget to build a path leading from the exit of a ride placed over water. Your guests actually drown! It may sound crazy but you'll start caring about the welfare of these little simulated people. I definately recommend it to young and old.
Rating: Summary: Complete fun for the whole family and educational too! Review: I bought this game for my son (13) for Christmas. By far, this is his favorite gift. My son, daughter (10), and myself all are hooked on creating amuzement parks. Even my 5 year old enjoys watching because the graphics and sounds are great. The game requires planning strategies, design ideas, and creative thinking. We enjoy this so much, I will buy the expansion packs soon.
Rating: Summary: So much fun! Review: This game is so much fun. There is so much to do in this game, and it is so much fun to watch a theme park develope over time. The game has a number of senarios where you try to achieve a goal, such as having 1000 guests in the park. They progressively get more challenging making the replay-ability of the game very good. This would make a good gift for anyone above the age of 10. Even adults would like it. The one downside that I found was its compatability with Windows 2000. For some reason it has difficulty saving and loading games on my machine. The game is so much fun I had to go out and buy WinME just to install it to be able to play this game!
Rating: Summary: Be Prepared to Hog the PC Review: This is an extreamly addictive game. Both my son (10) and I want to play and we are constantly trying to get the mouse from the other during game play. We have various sim city and sim train games but none are as fun to play as this one. I think this is for two reasons. First, the game is not one where you get frustrated because you go bankrupt every time you try to play. Second, ammusment parks are fun to go to and fun to build on a PC. You can build the park of your dreams! Additionally, the program is easy to learn, seems to be absolutely bug free and the graphics are great. It lets you change the landscape and build various tunnels and other things that you wish they would have on real parks (if they weren't so darn cost concious). If you like sim games or just want to try one to see if you like them, this is the one to get. Happy building!
Rating: Summary: Easy, Long, and Customizable Review: This game wasn't very challenging, but fun nevertheless. The idea is to build a roller coaster park, which may also include thrill rides, gentle rides, and water rides. The people, whom you can see in your park even as you build, roam your park. You can spy on each one's thoughts. You need to keep them from getting thirsty or hungry and provide bathrooms. You need to make sure they don't vomit often and clean it up when they do. You can build any roller coaster yourself, or choose from preset designs. Building roller coasters is a bit of a challenge, since it can be hard to connect the end to the beginning, but they can fit the given space more easily than preset ones. It's important to balance your budget and keep track of prices. This game is easy to win, but takes a long time to play. I recommend this for anyone who wants a laid back simulation and for people who want to build the ultimate roller coaster.
Rating: Summary: A Fabulous game... Review: Defenitely worth it, I'd say. It really helps you expand your creativity, and translate it into rides and parks. I've never had so much fun with a game before, so I highly suggest it.
Rating: Summary: Addictive Personalties BEWARE Review: This is a brilliant fusion sophisticated simming, and simple engineering. The ability to build roller coasters is easy to learn, and the levels increase in challenge as the players skill grows. Held together by an arcade style level structure, where after completing one challenge the player enters his or her name complete with score, this game can consume more hours then most of the world. Put both arms up, and get ready to scream, this is the best sim game . . . EVER.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous; Addictive; Fun! Review: I've never been very good at either god-games or real time stategy, but RCT's whimsical premise and attention to detail had me hooked from the start. All of the essential components of an amusement park are here -- coasters, rides, food stands -- as well as those things that are most important that you wouldn't normally think about (like bathrooms, security, and proper planning.) The graphics are fun and sounds top notch; the interface is a bit clunky in moving windows out of your view but gets the job done without being horribly complicated. The one thing that I wish was different was if there would be a free-play map where you could build your park without having to meet scenario requirements (ie, "Have 650 visitors by year 3") -- I'd really just like to experiment with designs and such without being under the gun. All in all, if you even have a passing interest in sim-games or a fondness for amusement parks, this cannot be passed up.
Rating: Summary: Roller Coaster Tycoon Review: This game is alot of fun! It doesn't get boring that fast. I find it easy to play. It wasn't a waste of money. I think it's alot more fun with Loopy Landscapes and Corkscrew Follies. Some ride are a little hard to build, but other than that it's so much fun.
