Rating: Summary: It was very disappointing Review: I thought it would be better then it turn out to be. It had terrible graphics. The movies were interesting, but the game was lame. I urge you NOT to buy this game.
Rating: Summary: Thanks for the bundle Review: I was a little late getting this title so I did not have to plunk down $30 for the original and another $20 for the expansion. I got both of them (the bundle) for $10 at Target! Sometimes it pays to wait a while before getting a game. The game is great but I wish there was more diversity of countries (it's basically Allied and non-Allies). Love it overall and the expansion adds some new elements to the original.
Rating: Summary: mega game Review: this game is the best one known to man and always will be!!! amazing grafix and great story line i recomend it to any1!!!
Rating: Summary: Great Strategy in Multiplayer Mode Review: I'm a huge fan of the Command and Conquer series, so buying Generals didn't require any thought. We were rewarded with great graphics and amazing multiplayer gameplay.First, the good. The graphics are quite impressive, definitely a step up from previous games. The various terrains - from snow to sand to grass to concrete - are well done. The trees sway in the wind. The units leave little tracks as they move, the construction of buildings makes you really feel like you're watching an army base get built. The sound and music is well matched and makes the game feel realistic. Controls all work just the way you'd hope they would - after so many games they really have that down to a science. On the down side, the usual problems in strategy gaming exist here. pathfinding isn't always perfect, units get stuck against buildings or in chasms. The campaign missions help you learn your skills but aren't extremely challenging. Still, as with just about every game that comes out today, the built in gameplay is merely a training ground for the real challenge of multiplay. There's no way a computer could compete with the challenge posed by a real human being with experience and knowledge at the other end of the map. This game really shines in multiplayer. The three sets of units are well balanced, and if you get yourself onto a large map with teammates and opponents, you'll be hooked for months. Skirmish mode is quite fun too, earning medals for different accomplishments. Definitely a great game for any strategy gaming fan!
Rating: Summary: Generals is AMAZING!!!! Review: The game I am writing a new fiction in a line dating back to 1996, and this game revolves around the events currently happening. This is Command and Conquer Generals, three sides go to war. these are China, the United State, and a terrorist group called the Global Liberation Army try to takeover the world. It sounds like the events of today in a game. This game has EXCELLENT graphics (which shows what multi-Gigahertz procesors and 128 bit Graphics cards are for,) great gameplay, except for the easy artificial intelligence compared to other great games such as Starcraft, which was probably the best RTS ever made, Command and Conquer, and Warcraft 3. The realistic storyline is a great change from the previous games( such as Red Alert Yuri's Revenge, ect.) A great soundtrack is included, a "general" system lets you recieve different abilities and commands to use. I highly recommend this game:) Too all of you who hate Generals, go buy Praetorians, thats good, or Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne when it comes out in June. GENERALS RULES (but Starcraft does too...)
Rating: Summary: Very Accessible Strategy Game Review: This is a game that I ended up liking a lot better than I would have thought. It isn't overly difficult or complex, allowing the strategy-rookie to get into the game easily. This is the kind of game where you can play a few missions and then come back a month later and pick up where you left of, without having to re-play the tutorial. I would have even given this game 5 stars, if it wasn't for a few details that I didn't care for too much. The interface leaves a bit to be desired. I found myself wishing for easier ways to select and group units. Sometimes, I also wished for the game to give me a bit more feedback about what's going on. For instance, when the GLA attacks my base with a SCUD-storm, why not show where it hit on the mini map? Games like Pretorians show how to do this (at least a little) better. The other problem with this game is that it lets you get away with too much. The game doesn't force you to use advanced strategy. Often, it is enough to just build up a very large number of troups and send them into battle all at once. In those scenarios, I often wish the game would make me find out a bit more about all the great upgrades and special units that are available. Of course, this is a problem the player could solve :-) Overall, this is a very good game. Personally, I had a lot of fun with this game. Probably even 5 stars worth. But compared to some other 5-star games, it just didn't seem fair to give this one 5 stars as well. It just isn't quite among the very best. But if you are looking for fun without twisting your brain all too much, then this one is for you...
Rating: Summary: Great real time strategy game, but... Review: Red Alert 2 is a great real time strategy game. There are two different people to play as, the US and Russia. The game is set slightly in the future, with realistic technology. Some of the missions take a long time to do, since Westwood didn't add a cheat engine to the game. However, the greatest downfall of this game is that it has no map editor. The possibilities of this game are not as great as other real time strategy games, especially those made by Blizzard. This game is one of my favorites, but after comparing to other games, it gets points taken off.
Rating: Summary: One of the best "Starcraft style" RTS's in years! Review: My home office shelf is a game graveyard. I've been suckered into nearly every high profile RTS ever made. When I first played Generals, all the dissapointment, the years of frustration with hyped up garbage suddenly didn't matter. This game is a gem. I pay attention to a few key things in an RTS: 1. Diversity In species or nationalities, units of production, and units of war. Generals has not only an abundance of diversity, it's managed to very elegantly balance them. The Americans, the Chinese, and the Terrorists all win (online) at about 1/3rd each. 2. Pace Remember Total Annihilation or Starcraft? Those games had you sweating it out from the second a game launched. This appeals to me. You can play a fast-paced game and not have to devote a night. 3. Animation Units with high detail, beautiful lighting, insanely cool looking explosions....this one has it all! The graphics engine for this game was (at the time of release, and still to my knowledge today) the best on the market by far. You can very easily play this game online, it (now) has a very well developed playmatch system, and as you win, you gain rank (very addictive attribute). I recommend this, and Rise of Nations to anyone who loves RTS. Enjoy...
Rating: Summary: Red Alert 2s the best!!! Review: This game is soooo fun its just like age of the empires but even betr. U get to create yor own army and yor own base! And then defeat the enemys.
Rating: Summary: Yuri's Revenge is a great sequel!! Review: A great game counterpart to Red Alert 2. This takes off right after ra2, having the inferior seeming Allied forces win the war. (Sigh.) However, Yuri has defected from the Soviet Union, building his own excellent army to play in skirmish or internet. You can command all armies in the most fun gameplay of them all, skirmish. New units have been acquired by the Allies and Soviets, to fight Yuri's diabolical army. Anyway, Soviets are making a comeback with all their units, with several marvelous brand new ones. The cool Siege Chopper has a machine gun to dispatch allies or yuris infantry forces, and an artillery cannon, (oh yeah!) to shoot the crap out of the allied structures and massacre their infantry, even the anti air guardian GIs will go down right away to these big guns. Attacking a Yuri base with these requires more caution, as mind controlling units and buildings can wreck a small force. Just place them away from Psychic Towers and fire away! The Soviet hero unit, Boris, is better than Tanya, as his range and ease of use is greater. Place a laser designator on any building, and some MIGs will demolish the structure with their missiles. The Industrial Plant reduces the build time of their powerful vehicle force. Yuri's army is quite fun to command, as his units are destructive and great to use. His miners are pretty good, but the slaves are extremely low on health, so guard them carefully. His Iniatiates are the best basic infantry, and are very dangerous when garrisoned in buildings. His Yuri Clones and Prime can fry infantry, (civilians) and control them. Primes can take over most of the armies buildings. The Virus sniper kills infantry with a toxic residue. His brutes are hulks that can crush tanks and infantry that stand in his path. His vehicles include one similar to the Grizzly and Rhino, the Lasher, and a Gatling Tank that has spinning barrels that can tear apart army men. Another addition to his mind control technology is the mastermind, a vehicle able to control 3 units at a time. (ONLY THREE PER DEVICE!!) Magnetrons can fry buildings and drag vehicles in the air with a magnetic beam, which won't effect infantry. His structures and Naval Yard are neary identical to the three armies ones, except the Psychic Tower can mind control units, and Gatling Cannons are emplaced anti infantry guns. Yuri's Naval Yard produces Boomer missile launchers like Dreadnaughts, and torpedoes like Attack Subs. His superweapons are the Genetic Mutator and the Dominator. Mutators turn any infantry into Brutes, while the Dominator controls and destroys everything in a wide radius. The allies are still here, and have mind control immune vehicles, (don't be TOO afraid of them) which are Robot Tanks with weak armor, and the massive Battle Fortress. 5 or so deployed grouped up Siege Choppers and some Lasher Tanks are enough to destroy a single Fortress, and a Yuri Clone can take one over with his mind. The way to build Robot Tanks for allies is to build a Robot Control Centre. Yuri's Revenge has some gameplay changes. Team Alliance has maps designed for close battle with teams. There are some neutral units on some maps. Civilians can carry very weak pistols, and automobiles are good to mind control and scout with. If you read this review, just play this COOL GAME!!
