Summary: Absolutely No Guide Book To Help You Play
Review: I'm sorry but I have to admit when I bought this game, it was more of an impulse buy. I should of done some research. This game offers no logical explanation on how to play. For one there is no guide book. I purchased Star Trek: StarFleet Command and love it soo much. It came with a great tutorial and a book that can be purchased separately. I understood everything and have a lot of fun playing it. But with Star Trek: New Worlds, it's a lost cause. Just because its made by the same people as StarFleet Command it is not something you would call similar. My main complaint about Star Trek: New Worlds is I do not know have to play the game even after watching the lame tutorial. The only positive thing about the game is the mini-movie at the beginning about the premise of the game. That blew my mind. But If you are looking to buy this game, don't.

Summary: Quite possibly the worse game I have ever played.
Review: It is certainly the worst strategy game ever. Not only was it a HUGE dissapointment, it was just an all-around bad game. Besides from slow units & a horrible interface to work with, the game was plagued with many problems. Some of the bigger ones are that there isn't a costum game mode, and you can't save your games ever! I read some PC magazine reviews that called it "Star Trek meets StarCraft", well this isn't true at all. Each race only has about 3 units that are combat-related, one of wich doesn't even has weapons! Don't buy this game if you're expecting a Star Trek based strategy game with lots of awesome battle units. You get the exact opposite.

Summary: Is this even a game?
Review: My God, if this is a game, it needs to be called Destruction Derby because of all the crashes. My computer is WAAAAAAAAY above minimun specs for this game, and I experience crash after crash. The fact that there is no in game save option really [stinks] also because you have to start the mission over after your game crashes. The only reason this game got a star was because the graphics and movies are cool, but as far as game play and interface.... it [stinks]. The game isn't hard, it's just time consuming, and gets really frustrating when you have to restart you computer every half an hour or so because of the crashes. Don't ask interplay if you there will be a patch out soon either, they won't respond, lately they have just been shoving games out on the market half finished and then not providing help to the customers who bought the games. I know I'm not the only person experiencing these problems because I bought the game with three other people and they have them also, and feel the same as I do. Quite frankly this is the last game I will ever purchase from them.

Summary: A Real Strategical Situation,Depends on your Politics
Review: New Worlds is a not an ordinary game this game is a game created for Real Strategy on a ground, and the player stands as a officer of each one of these Star Empires,New Worlds game is about the importance of a star system named Tabula Rasa Anomalies, this system has been appeared because of a Romulan Test, that put the whole region on the map(of all star Empires known to eachother)
there is no good or bad in this Game, and if u stand and fight is for the good of your goverment, this region has a very strategical importance for all 3 star empires, first we must know that these anomalies appeared in the Neutral zon,M-Class Planets, new Races, and the rich Dilithium Planets that are far richer than a ordinary dilithium planet are the reasons of its importance,of course all the goverments are on the rush to have these systems, the Federation and Romulan Star Empire, look at this situation as a oppertunity to uphold their strength, but due to the loss of Praxis(Klingon Moon)the klingons look at the sitiuation as a golden oppertunity to escape the peace treaty
that is going to be negotiated with the federation, and uphold the honor and strength of their Empire,
This Game was Created in 1999 and due to that time here are the ratings i give to it,
Graphics 9/10
Story 10/10
Sound and Music 10/10
Gameplay Control 8/10
Overall:9/10
You have the oppertunity to play as each of the Goverments and
help the goverments to hold the upper hand in Economy and Border Strength(dont forget the neutral zone),and also this game is a very deep game, and you cant win too soon,it will take a lot of time for every misson, and a you need to have a real strategy and plan for this game, you also get promotion after having success in several missons, and if you really are a man of strategy go and have it.
i hope success for you Lieutenant Commander

Summary: In the year 2292,a game with deep strategy and policy

Summary: very well made.
Review: Overall, I liked this game. good smooth graphics speaking since it doesn't require high-end expensive graphics card. Only thing i hated was I can click tricorder map and go directly to the spot, i have to scroll slowly to the spot. There is no cheats to this game either unlike most games out there. You cant save games during missions, only between them. I don't mind this but you might. I have AMD K6-2 500mhz computer and It hasn't crashed on me yet. It seems pretty stable to me.

Summary: Worst Trek game made
Review: So, what was the point of this game? I never could distinguish the baddies from the Feds during alien battles. And, I could never finish the second mission. In my opinion, don't waste your hard earned money on this one. Total waste. If you're looking for fighting on a starship or beaming down to hostile worlds, this is not the game for you. You're better off with "Bridge Commander" or "Elite Force".

Summary: Oh, so close!
Review: Star Trek New Worlds gave us the promise of "Starcraft meets Star Trek." When starting the game, you believe you are going to get this, but then things go wrong...very wrong.

First of all, there doesn't seem to be any logical method to what you need to build. Sure, you need power and mining, but every other required building's function seems to be very vague.

Next, the missions seem very difficult to complete. You build the required buildings and go on the missions, but it sometimes takes up to an hour to really get going.

All of this is made even more frustrating because of a lack of a Save Game feature. If this game had one, it would make it so much better. You play for an hour or so and then loose. It is a horrible experience.

The most positive aspects of the game lie in the story and graphics. The opening movie and continuing story are excellent and very much in the spirit of "Star Trek." The graphics are also top notch and are really detailed.

Overall, I cannot recommend this game. If it had a save game feature, you could overlook the other flaws and have a good time.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: A flawed game.
Review: Sure, when you read the features on this game, any sane Trekkie will have their mouth watering, but when I bought the game I noticed it had a lot of problems. The missions are way too complicated and take hours to finish, and if you screw up when you've almost finished it's very frustrating. There's no way to save or minimize so it takes forever to do anything. While it's cool to see your colony grow and to see how the different races handle different scenarios it's not a great game.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: All work, almost no play, and no save.
Review: The 3d aspect of this game certainly makes it interesting to look at, but that's just about where the fun ends.

By the time I made it through the tutorial to learn the game, I was so bored with all the time it took to build a base that I played a little combat just to see what it looked like and then shelved the game.

This game requirs a lot of work to play. Much time is spent on base building and upgrading structures several times so you can assemble a useful fighting force. The designers might have done a careful study of the Command and Conquer games to see how to build an efficient user interface.

Finally, you can't save your game during a mission. If your computer crashes, the doorbell rings, the baby cries, etc. you just have to walk away from your machine or lose your game. Sheesh!

My advice: Get Emperor of Dune. Now THAT's a 3d RTS game!
