Rating: Summary: Not your father's RTS Review: Very different and very fun. Don't play this game with a mind jaded by years of Age of Empires and Starcraft. It's a fun, interesting game that's not for the micromanager. It looks beautiful and plays fast and chaotic. Gets better with every Battle Pack.
Rating: Summary: Good, fun and addictive Review: Very fun fast paced strategy game. This is one of the best games I have ever played, cheaper than most games Battle Realms is a true winner.
Rating: Summary: Much-Needed stop to the year of clones Review: well,as the title suggests,2001 was a year of clones and rubbish games.Max Payne got too much attention.civ3 was NOT addictive at all.In every rts u just rush the enemy and they die.So ubisoft put a stop to it by creating Battle Realms. You are given a bunch of peasents and train them, upgrade them, turn them into skilled warriors and try to destroy the enemy.Empire Earth and Europa Universalis 2 are also very good games, and in the 'shooter/strategy' section,Half-Life RULES.That bunch will almost certainly rule my computer.Red Alert 2 SUCKS next to these games.Excellent game
Rating: Summary: Reminicent of the first time I played Warcraft...great! Review: What a fantastic game -- I am a die-hard fan of the real-time strategy genre, and never thought I'd ever match the goosbumps I got the first time I played Warcraft years ago. Starcraft came close (I still play that game with my brother-in-law online...timeless), Kohan and C&C Red Alert 2 were fun while they lasted, but Battle Realms really does take the cake. Who'd have thought that Ubi Soft, notorious for releasing horribly untested games, would make something as great as BR? True, the game does have a slight tendency to bomb occasionally, but a patch should fix that shortly. BR's 4 clans are extremely well-balanced and unique with special "battle gear" that improves combat acumen. Populations are limited to 30 -- including your peasant class -- and there are built-in discouragements to the rush tactic. I know you don't know me, but trust me: it you've ever liked an RTS game, you owe it to yourself to check out Battle Realms.
Rating: Summary: Looks Good--- Plays Bad Review: When I first played Battle Realms I was amazed at the stunning visuals and great soundtrack. That was all that was great about the product. Battles, which take forever to prepare for, are pointless because you have no control over the units once you right-click attack. The unit alchemy system, seemingly innovative, is just an Age of Empires clone with units instead of buildings. If you like great visuals and standard RTS fare in disguise this game is for you. If you like good games, don't buy this.
Rating: Summary: It is the 2nd best RTS game around Review: While it may not be Age of Empires but it certainly is a brillant game. Like any game it has its flaws, but these flaws are easily ignored. The good parts about the game are simply over whelming. The amount of strategys you can have, the level of detail in the game and the the great maps(and now editor).I recommend this game to anyone who can win games without cheating, there are no cheats in this game. Battle Realms creators have fixed all the bugs in the game (well that they know of at least) and now its a brillant game. ] P.S-C+C Renegade is better
Rating: Summary: Wow Review: Wow. Battle Realms is the most beautiful and innovative RTS I have ever seen. A lot of the negative reviews written here are written out of ignorance, but not due to the authors' faults. There is an incredible amount of depth to the game Different amage types, vulnerability to certain damage, innate abilities (e.g. your hero can raise the stats of nearby units) all need to be taken into account. . .but the tutorial does not cover all of these aspects of the game, which is a shame. I myself began to feel frustrated with this game, but after reading some of the information on the Battle Realms web site I finally figured out that I simply didn't know enough about the game to strategize effectively. The second patch has already been released (battle pack 2) which fixes most of the bugs, and with information gleaned from the official web site I find the game much more enjoyable. For example. . .if you select your own unit, and hover your cursor over an enemy unit, the cursor will change colors to indicate how effective your unit is against the enemy unit! Brown is low damage, silver is medium, and gold is high. Too bad I found this out three months after purchasing the game. It's a shame that the manual and tutorial do not go into enough depth, because it looks like a lot of people got frustrated with the game before learning all the aspects of it. Still, it is an excellent game and worth learning.
