Summary: Does not measure up to Medal of Honor
Review: Much to complicated to have fun playing. I enjoy Medal of Honor and thought this game would provide the same level of entertainment. NOT!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: NOT WORTH THE WAIT!
Review: This game is not worth the wait.. Never see the enemy, weapons mods are terrible, jerky movements. Explosions just look good, but don't blow anything up. Sorry I bought it. Will give away!

Summary: Great Idea, Bad execution
Review: This game had the potential to be one of my favorite games ever, but sadly it isn't. The game basically takes Medal of Honor, Warcraft, and the gameplay of Grand Theft Auto and melds it into one confusing mess. Sure its fun to run around jumping into jeeps, planes, and tanks and help the allies take Iwo Jima. However, the gameplay is horrible its nearly impossible to be accurate. The game is entertaining enough to make it buyable, but it is capable of so much more. If it was more like Medal of Honor, where the player has control over where and when he will throw his grenade or if the sniper rifle didn't zoom out after you shot, leaving you to wonder whether you killed the enemy or not. If the multiplayer games didn't end up reduced to 30 people fighting over the lone Spitfire on the runway. Yes, this game could be incredible if only the game designers had taken the best from each of those other great games instead of the worst.

Summary: Adult Review Here
Review: I purchased the game today. The game play is eerily similar to EA's other WWII shooter, Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault...and that's a good thing.

Installation was a snap - I experienced no problems getting right to the action. Even though I have an older system (PIII 933, 256MB RAM, 32MB GeForce2), the only lag I experienced was the game loading. After that, game play was "now, now, now."

I tried the single player portion of the game to begin with. It plays exactly the same as the multiplayer, which is really what this game's all about. Despite the full release going out only 24 hours ago (as of this writing), GameSpy's full of servers running the game, and at any given time today, there were at least 600 people playing.

If you have a decent machine (at least the recommended specs, and maybe slightly more) and a broadband internet connection, you'll enjoy this game. Don't hesitate - just buy it, and be prepared to stay up late learning how to infiltrate objectives without getting killed.

Summary: Money down the tubes!!!
Review: Running: P4 @ 2.2 with a Geforce 4 TI4600. 512 RAM

Net connection: AT&T Broadband

I got a copy of BF 1942 thinking that "WOW another FPS from EA...GREAT!!!" After all they published the Medal of Honor hits......boy was I disappointed.

First of all I had to install a patch... on the first day of purchase!

Then I learned that the developers of the Medal of Honor game had nothing to do with this game. The people who developed this game, DICE or Digitial Illusions, has never even programmed a successful game. DICE's only game that resembled a hit was a game called "Codename Eagle", which I and I believe majorities of other gamers have never even heard of.

Connectivity or should I say a lack of, for me, kills this game. The ping was terrible even when I was playing on a local server. "Connection failure" warning appears in game when I'm connected and playing on-line.

I primary buy FPS to enjoy fragging people over the net....but the net stability is so BAD I wish that I had waited for PC Gamer or Computer Gaming Monthly to review this game.....it would have saved me ....

Summary: The Most Fun and Addictive Game I have Ever Played
Review: I have played many online action games (Counter Strike, Tribes2, etc). This is by far the most fun. I love to hop in airplanes an strafe the enemy, parchute out behind enemy lines, and capture control points. Gameplay is balanced perfectly. You are always doing something fun, and are not bogged down with tedium. It combines the best of 1ps action with a great set of vehicles. Way too fun.

Summary: Great
Review: Great. I love it!! At 26 years old, I should be mature enough to have my priorities straight and get enough sleep for work the following day, but I have the urge to (and I do) stay up playing it until 4:00A.M. I CAN'T STOP PLAYING!!!.AAHHHHHH!!!.

Summary: Great expansion of FPS concept
Review: Review based upon SP and MP Demos...final version will obviously be cleaned up and optimized more than likely. Or at least until the 1st and 2nd patches come out :-)

This game expands well upon the popular First Person Shooter concept along with some mixing in of opting for 3rd person views.

PROS-
-Great mix of land, sea, and air weapon platforms. Finally able to use all the vehicles and weapons found within a more realistic battle environment.
-Incredible Sound Effects...the sound of artillery strikes for example really pulls you into the environment.
-Realistic open terrain made to scale (need to ride in vehicles to get anywhere in time)
-Shooting physics are also realistic (need to arc longer distance shots)

CONS

-Need very high end system to fully enjoy the game
-Complicated controls
-Infantry mode controls do not allow you to use the right/left arrow keys to turn your body...it only allows you to strafe left and right. I'm very used to using all my arrow keys at once along with my mouse for fine tuning to turn and move rather than strafe ALL the time. This has been my biggest frustration with BF1942 since I'm so used to playing other FPS games.

OVERALL

All around great game that advances the FPS genre very nicely. WWII fans will especially love it. I would give it 5 stars if the controls scheme were cleaned up a bit and allowed flexibility in the turn vs. strafe

Summary: Possibly the most addictive gameplay yet
Review: This game some of the most fun I've ever had at all scales of multiplayer. Whether we're playing 1on1 at my friend's house via LAN or 32 players online, I can play for hours and not get bored. This game is a true winner.
