Summary: Good but needs improvement
Review: I am a Law & Order addict and was thrilled when I came across this game. I couldn't wait to get it loaded on my PC, only to find it was frought with problems! Even after upgrading my memory, installing all the patches from the software manufacturer, and cleaning out my hard drive, I still had problems running the game. The speed was quite slow and I had difficulty getting from scene to scene because of this. Despite this, I was very interested in the game and the more difficult the "investigation" proved to be, the more I wanted to see what happened next! After many times failing, I finally made it through the "investigation" and on to "the courthouse," only to have the game freeze up when I was very close to solving the case! I was livid! I am in the process now of replacing my PC system and resolved not to play the game again until the upgrade is complete.

Despite all the problems, the game is quite interesting and the character roles are really close to the actual TV ones. I did have to use the hints on the manufacturer's website quite a bit, as I found the game quite challenging! After patrolling the same area several times, I finally wised up and went for the hints! Another reviewer stated that frequent saves are a must in case the game locks up and I agree completely with that statement. Saving your progress ever so often would prevent having to repeat the same parts of the game over in the event of a freeze-up or botched investigation.

I am looking forward to finishing the game and will purchase the second Law & Order game that is now available. I just hope it will have less technical issues than the first.

Summary: Fun-Freeze-Crash
Review: I am sorry to say you should not but this game.

I love the Law and Order show, so I was excited to finally get this game to play. At first it seemed to deliver on its promise. The huge problem I've had is that the game freezes and crashes constantly. The game is pretty unforgiving of mistakes so you need to save & reload often. I don't mind this, it seems like it is part of the game. But when I have to load, and reload, and reload, and reload because of freezes and crashes, I get pretty annoyed. It takes the fun right out of the game.

For example, I started to feel like I was getting somewhere when I got my first search warrent. I was all ready to ransack my suspect's apartment. Then... the game freezes. No problem, though, I reload and submit my search warrent evidence again. And it freezes again. I repeat this a few times and finially decide to reboot my machine. Still freeze. I finally give up. A few days later I came back to the game and it was working. This has happened at other points too.

At any rate, I seems like it could be a good game, especially for fans of the show, but with these technical problems, I can't recommend this game.

Avoid it.

Summary: Great game!
Review: I bought this game for my wife (who's a big fan of the show) and we both got hooked. I usually like games with more action than this one but we had a fun time playing it. The graphics were pretty good and the story was interestin (I bet the Martha Stewart story in the news gave them a few ideas). I was surprised that I liked playing it almost as much as my wife. Two thumbs up from us.

Summary: Love this game!
Review: I don't usually play computer games, but I couldn't wait to try this since I love the TV show. Now I'm addicted! Most of what you do in the game is talk to witnesses and hunt around for evidence and try to find who committed the murder in central park. I still not finished yet, but I can't stop! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes the show or who likes crime stories.

Summary: Just in time for the holidays
Review: I found Dead on the Money to be quick-witted and quite intelligent while remaining a lot of fun. I encountered a minor technical glitch which was quickly corrected by contacting customer service. I feel that this game is a great gift that'll fit a variety of interests - perplexed aunts and uncles, take note. "Dead" can easily outlast all the other one-shot games that have retired to the shelf to gather dust.

Summary: Loved both Law & Orders.
Review: I gave four stars because I want them to continue to make these types of games and without the bugs it is a fun game. I only play and buy adventure and mystery games. The second one didn't have any bugs for me and they made a few improvements, for example they got rid of the time limit and added checkmarks to the notepads.

If you have Javaw.exe error or Can't Start? Try This.

After applying the necessary patches for the 2-CD or 3-CD:

I have the 3 cd version and would get the javaw.exe error and application has to close message, so I couldn't even start the game (played it before but didn't finish, but didn't have that problem the first time.)

Solution=You have to always start the game with the first disc after quitting game.
open cd disc drive on my computer or windows explorer
open disc one
open install folder
open lawandorder (the application)
then wait and opening will start

Summary: Flawed
Review: I had trouble with the game from the very beginning. I thought it was my computer and even had it looked at. Then I took the game back to the store and the person at the returns said she had three already come back that day and it was only noon.

I love the show and I really regret not being able to play the game. It looks like it would be alot of fun. I was glad to read that it wasn't just me and that so many others were having problems. I hope they can get it fixed.

Summary: Better than I expected
Review: I had way more fun than I thought. This game starts out like the tv show, a crime happens and you're there to help put it all together. I became so addicted to solving the case I was loosing track of time. I love this game because it isn't easy to solve and it seems so real. Here are a few things you might need to know to have successful game play.

1. Go to the site that made this game. There you'll find all the patches and upgrades that you might need to play this game. People seem to miss this part. You'll also find cheats, help with any problem your game might have, wallpaper, support, etc. This site is where I got my video upgrade from. It wasn't like a normal upgrade but one I think the game makers put together. [URL]

2. System requirments are (you need at least): pentium 2, 400 mhz, 96 mb ram, 12x cd-rom drive, 8mb video card, sound card, 700 mb available hard disk space, keyboard, and mouse.

3. read the booklet that comes with the game. It gives you what you need to know. Some people seem to over look this...and this is where some of your answers are at.

4. you can't have an old computer for this.

What I wish the game had was more than 1 case. It would have been cool if maybe 20 or 30 extra cases were included. But then again they would have charged us more for it. Other than that I love this game. I didn't give it 5 stars because the screen went black a few times.

Summary: Yes, 4 stars...even w/ the bugs
Review: I have to admit that at first this game seemed ridiculous. Going through weird pieces of evidence at the crime scene seemed like a waste of time to me and I didn't find the right thing for awhile so I was stuck. I felt a little silly sending cigarette butts to the crime lab. LoL. But once I got the hang of it, it was great. I was lucky to be able to check this game out for free at a local library. Otherwise, the bugs would have really bothered me. One other problem...for a game that stresses logic, the gameplay at time lacks it. I just thought it was odd that when something about a piece of evidence revealed something new about other evidence, the Researcher made no connection when you asked him for analysis again. Other than those things...and of course, the common error of the game freezing sometimes, it is well worth playing. Playing again? Maybe. It might be better to play the game in secret from another person, then have the other person play the game and you monitor their progress. That might be fun to see who solved it faster.
