Summary: Excellent skirmishes! Cool game.
Review: This game is extremely exciting and fun, especially the incredible little skirmish battles. It features:Many maps to choose from, both Soviet and Allied sides, and just plain fun. Sometimes I battle Allied against Allied, and Soviet against Soviet. Some of te best fun you'll ever have on the computor!

Summary: Good game, but severely taxes your system
Review: Right off the bat: this is a good game. Just like all C&C games before it, the core gameplay is the same, with some differences. For starters, you can now upgrade units with enhanced technology (like upgrading weapons in Warcraft). Many units have their own individual upgrades that enhance abilities as well.

There are 3 sides: China, USA, and a world Liberation Army, which are Middle Eastern terrorists. The sides in this game are far more realistic now than they have been in past C&C games, and that makes for interesting warfare during the game. Battles can span anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 hours, and they are often very fun and challenging. Each side is fundamentally different and it will take some time getting used to all sides, as well as trying to master them. Each side has its own campaign to get through with a story to go along with it. Unlike previous C&C games, there are no cinematics between missions. Everything is told to you as you play.

Despite the fact that this is a good game, there is one problem with it that just takes the quality of it down completely: the severely high requirements it has for gameplay. I am running a top of the line system, as of August 2003 barely a year old, and Generals runs so slowly you would think that its running on a 486. I don't know why the game runs so poorly, considering the high end technology I have in my computer. Having played the game on other computers I have noticed the same thing. It just demands far too much. Unfortunately sacrifices must be made, and to run the game efficiently you will have to scale the graphics down so much that they will look severely outdated, almost looking like the old C&C games from way back in the day. The fact that this game runs so slowly on a P4, 2.0 gig with 1.2 gig ram and a GeForce 5 video card is mind-boggling. This also makes for extremely slow on-line play.

Unfortunately this rather good game is marred by its tremendous system requirements. Had it not been designed ahead of its time, it would have ran more smoothly and would have been an overall better game experience. Regardless, I enjoy the game and any C&C fan will too.

Summary: do you favor realism or excitement?
Review: To be totally honest, this game looks great, has some good music, and has units that are both familiar and new, keeping it interesting. If only it didn't take as long as a real war...

Unless your PC is fully loaded and ultra-fast, this game is likely to keep you twiddling your thumbs for a good deal of the time. When a skirmish actually occurs between units, the level of detail in the violence is fun (i.e., people getting tossed across the screen, explosions..) but they are slow. Gone is the fast and fun gameplay of Red Alert 2, which was largely 2D but much more exciting.

There is an utter lack of story, and no cinematic fun between missions like in Red Alert 2. There is a vague and impressive but pretentious opening cinematic.

Those looking for a realistic RTS in full 3D mode and have a computer that can support quick gameplay will probably not miss the cinematics, but the freshness and originality of RA 2 is gone, and this seems more like a (sucessful) technical excercise

Review: your mom...................... could beat this........... your mom is easy

Summary: Excellent Game
Review: The world of rts games relies on an age old sytem of gathering resources, build a city, then defeating your enemy with an army. C&C Generals takes it one step farther with new modern day units and unbelievable graphics and sound. However enjoying this game as it was meant will require a powerful computer. WARNING: The system recomendations for this game are fairly low compared to what you will actually need to play it. Your are gonna need to have aP3 or P4 pumping out around 2+ Ghz. A 128mb Nvidia or ATI card is highly recomended.Additionally 512mb of ram makes the game run much smoother. However once you play it your eyes will thank you. The solo missions are a liitle un-challenging,but the awesome cut-scenes make up for it,however the real beauty of the game lies in the multyplayer modes. If you have a powerful enough machine and you are a fan of rts classics like: Warcraft series, C%C series, Rise of Nations, Age of Empires/Age of Mythology, then you MUST buy this game...you will not be dissapointed!

Summary: Definatly my favorite strategy game
Review: Of many of the strategy games I've played as a gamer this most definatly my favorite. This game relies less on resource managment and more on strait out action and combat. There are 3 different campaigns for each nationality (China which relies on nubmers, USA which relies on its more powerful vehicles and GLA which relies on its versitility although its the weakest of the 3 in my opinion.) Although I have yet to beat teh campain most of the fun is in the skirmishs taking on computer paleyrs, while initially it may be hard, once you grow accustmed to the way teh enemy's play you can easily beat them. This makes the game seem almost too easy, although I can't quite beat a hard enemy right now but this is the first I've played in awhile and I'm once again regaining my strategy, but I'm faily certain at one point I could beat teh ardest enemy difficutly with ease. What does all this mean? It means for a good challenge you'll eventually have to resort to online play leaving people on 56k to easily be left in teh dark (while I use broadband now I remember almost everything lagged in 56k.)
Very highly recomned for trs fans seeking fast paced action.

Summary: Worthy Buy!
Review: I don't usually purchase computer games, (usually borrow from friends, play for a week or two until I get tired, and give back), however, Generals is an exception, having been a fan of the Command and Conquer franchaise, this was a natural step, the new units are great, the gameplay is well polished, the minor bugs have been fixed in the subsequent patchs, all in all, if you're looking for a good RTS, or have a hankering for modern warfare, look no further

Summary: Command & Conquer - Generals
Review: An excellent game. Great graphics. The AI, in my opinion, does not seem to be a great leap forward. However, I have only had the game a few weeks, so there may be something I'm missing.

Campaigns are a bit short.

System Requirements are very high. Check this against your PC before you buy.

All in all, I still give the game a 7 out of 10

Summary: An Excellent Game
Review: They say that attention to detail makes the game. Well, this game is chock full of detail. Nukes leave radiation, ect. An awesome game, nice graphics, great multiplayer mode, and an engaging game overall. This is like a slightly better version of Age of Empires. More detail, upgrades aren't necessarily universal (each unit can be specialized to perform a specific task), units gain experience (something that AOE doesn't do, which is really annoying), and three very different "civilizations" each with it's own unique technologies and totally different focuses. I would highly recommend this game to any fan of RTS games.

Summary: Would get 5 if it wasn't so lacking
Review: Yes, it is Command and Conquer - among my favorite games of all time. Generals is even better than the previous C&C games. But why did I only give it three stars? Because it is too short! In C&C:RA there were a ton of missions to go on on each side. It took me a month of playing to finish the game as both sides. This time it took me 3 hours of playing to finish the USA missions. What's up with that?

So, because the game is so short, it gets smacked down really hard.
