Summary: Monthly Fee !!!!
Review: When I ordered this video game, I did not realize it required a monthly fee and had to be connected to the internet to play.

I have printed the RMA and will be sending the package back on Monday.

I feel that I am not alone in overlooking this requirement.
The yearly fee needs to be posted PROMINATELY next to the picture of the game.

I am extremly disappointed that I was " duped " into buying this game.

Lucas Arts has disappointed me and I'm sure others feel the same.

Summary: Outrageously high requirements, $$$month = BAD GAME
Review: I don't know what Lucas Arts thinks the average Star Wars fan or prospective MMO-gamer has for a computer system, but man, it shouldn't take a 4-ghz system to run a darn game. This game has enormous potential to break new ground for scale and magnitude as a potentially multi-million+ populated MMO-game, that actually has amazing graphics to go with all that hyper-interactive-adventure stuff. I think few can argue with that. However, there is one glaring problem with this game that Lucas Arts has astonishingly overlooked: the requirements are TOO HIGH. The simple fact is, a great percentage of the people already signed up to play this game DO NOT have a 3GHZ system with a gig of RAM and a $[$$] video card.

Like all MMO-games, for it to be enjoyable, and successful, first and foremost, it has to at least be compatible enough that a decent percentage of people can actually play the game on their systems. The more people that can play the game, the better, so that the planets in the game can be heavily populated, and then the random adventure mayhem that we all crave ensues.

I am desparately hoping that Lucas Arts will address the non-playability of this game with enough patches to correct the problems. If they fail to do so, I'm sure I'm not the only rabid Star Wars and video game fan out there that is unwilling to fork over $[$$] for the game, PLUS $[$$]/month to play what is, right now, an unplayable game, given the current ACTUAL, real, requirements. Hopefully patches will address this issue. By the way, I'm using an Athlon 2100 w/Radeo 9000 PRO, 512 RAM, cooling fans and heat sinks galore, and please, Lucas Arts, please, create some patches and don't let this game wither away due to poor planning...

Also, I know plenty of what I would call hard-core gamers who play tons of online games, and not one of them, NOT ONE, is willing to pay $[$$]/month to play this game. The price must come down, it's just not realistic.

Summary: Worst MMORPG Launch Title Ever.
Review: Pointless, monotonous and completely underdeveloped. This game might improve within 6-12 months, when the developers actually finish it. Makes me feel like I paid for a movie and was only allowed to watch the previews. Horribly boring combat system, broken quests, empty zones and an absolute pointless game.

Summary: Jumped the gun a bit
Review: A bunch of my friends were beta testers and after the NDA was lifted they said the game wasnt ready. This is obvious to me now. SInce I arrived home with it i have only been abl to play for about 20 minutes. This is due to 1. Registration not working properly 2. Constant server disconects, and lastly the entire database is now down and no servers are running. Ya think the game was released a bit early? Can't wait to get in there and see what it can really do.

Summary: Buyer BEWARE!!!! The game doesn't work yet!!!
Review: As of the first evening of the game being open to the public, the servers are all crashing constantly. I have been trying for 8 hours to play the game but I haven't even been able to create a character!!! It took 4 hours before the game would even allow me to enter my credit card information.

Sony and LucasArts knew this was going to be popular but obviously didn't shell out the money needed to buy enough servers. If this is what they want your first impression to be, will they even care when there are technical problems later???

Summary: subscription service is like a russian bread line
Review: The game is awesome not only does it comes with a requsite subscription service so you may have the privledge of paying up to 143 dollars a year in fees. But waiting to pay is harder than getting into a NYC hotspot. Given the ammount of time they pushed back the release date one should expect them to have maintained a proper backend infrastructure instead of trying to run the subscription service off an apple IIe in some guys basement.

Summary: Starwars Comes to life
Review: This game offers alot of options as far as entertainment and character development. Also up and coming patches are gonna offer some type of vehicles which is greatly needed but still livable without. The flora and funa come alive in this incredible game, take it from beta tester who knows.

Summary: Notes from a SWG beta tester
Review: With the release of this game, I am now free to discuss the beta test. This game is fun! I've enjoyed exploring the planets, cities and buildings from the Star Wars movies. The worlds are large and full of things to see and do. Character develpment allows for variety to create custom characters. This game will only get better. Planned expansion packs include vehicles, ridable creatures and space ships plus more worlds to explore. Anyone tired of the same old hack and slash fantasy games should consider SWG.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Beta tester, two thumbs up
Review: I was in the final Beta Test for SWG and can tell you this game is going to be wonderful. Granted, even the developers say that it could use a little more content and it WILL be launching with a couple of bugs. But hey, what MMO doesn't? :) But the content coming as patches (player cities, vehicles, mounts) in the next couple of months is alone enough to make it worthwile to get off on the ground floor of this game. Character classes are diverse, the spawn is dynamic, and the worlds are beautifully crafted. DON'T miss out on this one.

Summary: True to Star Wars, suffering from poor gameplay
Review: Star Wars and MMORPGs are two things that I love. I've played almost every MMORPG that has been released over the years, and i'm certainly up on my SW Expanded Universe knowledge.

SWGalaxies is great in that it closely follows the Star Wars Universe as it has been established by the movies, books, and comics. Great effort and detail was taken to make this game as accurate as possible, adding in massive amounts of detail and accounting for all Expanded Universe information. The graphics are also sharp, and several game elements were very well executed. Waypoints, for instance, provide both a directional arrow and a glowing beam of light to show you where your chosen destination is. This makes navigation simple, if slow.

Unfortunately, as a game SWGalaxies doesn't quite cut it. Combat is both boring and scripted. While a player can, ultimately, acquire many different types of attacks you will likely always use the exact same pattern in a battle. Finding adversaries to fight can also be difficult, as there are no fixed spawn points in the game. I, personally, have wandered the deserts of Tatooine for 20 minutes without encountering any AI opponents. While there are dungeon-like places that make hunting a bit easier, they are not accessible to the new player. Having to go to cities in order to get certain wounds healed is neat in concept, but in reality it's just frustrating. A lot of time is spent running to and from a destination, especially with the current Mission system.

A typical 4 hours of gameplay is likely spent performing deliver missions for 2+ hours, and then attempting to find monsters that are at your skill level. Please believe me when I say that you will be bored. Very bored. No one likes to hold down an arrow key for 20 minutes to get back to town. From a purely gaming perspective, SWG is not worth your time.

However, if you are a roleplayer, a major Star Wars fan, or just someone who likes MMORPGs on a purely social level, then you will enjoy SWG. The purely player based economy, and some of the boring but necessary classes (such as the Entertainer) give social players fun roles to take on while interacting with their friends. Similarly, the major Star Wars fans will constantly see neat elements from the movies and Expanded Universe that they recognize. Gamers would be best advised to find something else, but for purely social players this may be the best MMORPG on the market.
