Summary: A New Hope, NOT!
Review: I bought this game with great expectations for a mmorpg to finally "get it". It looks like they pushed out this product to sell a name and not a game. I stopped playing this game after a month.

Summary: Absolute waste of time
Review: Buy this game if you want the most bug filled and empty MMORPG released to date.
There is absolutely nothing Star Wars about this game other than the title and the backround. If you want Star Wars go buy KOTOR once it hits PC.
The interaction with all the characters from the movies is hollow and reduced to go kill this and come back. When you return you are given a useless or broken item.
Did I mention there is no loot in the game either? Forget about finding any cool weapons when you are out hunting all weapons and armour are player crafted and offer little variety.
Basic systems like chat are always breaking and the lag is worse than any game on the market.
Be warned STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE.

Summary: Too many problems
Review: I agree that the amount of effort put into this game is comendable. THe environments are huge (HUUUUGE) and full of creatures and NPCs and the number of things you can do with your character are endless.

BUT! The game LAGS sooooo much it's almost not worth playing. I even went out and bought a new graphics card in the hope it would solve some of the problem and it still takes me up to five minutes just to move my character 100 feet. Considering the amount of stuff you have to do just to get simple items like a gun or a helmet, and considering most missions have you running long distances, it's just far more frustrating than fun.

It crashes a lot, I mean a lot! Everyday you play you have to download patches. For $15 a month this game should be fluid, and instead it's like they relaesed a Beta version.

And there's really no clear understanding of what you even have to do to get ahead. I had to read message bords online just to learn how to play. And when you do figure something out, it takes FOREVER. Serioulsy, if you want to play this game make sure you don'thave a job, or a girlfriend, or any ambition to get ahead in life because it takes hours to do the most minor thing. For the casual Star Wars fan likeme, that's too much commitment to a virtual life. And as an aside, the manual doesn't tell you anything, and it's about 100 pages long.

THis game is just too frustrating to play. I'd like to, because it looks fantastic, but I've given up on it. If and when LucasArts can solve the myriad problems plaguing this, I will give it another try. But my advice to anyone who hasn'tbought it is, wait, wait and see if it gets better, because it's certainly not that good right now.

Summary: Great Game Time Consuming
Review: Fun online game but will, and I say Will take up time. Depending on your character of course; but you will be almost required to log in each day or every other day to pay rent or harvesters or other things once you own them. Or if you plan to be a crafter, be sure you have Lots of Time each night. Great graphics, sure some lag bugs but what game doesn't?

Summary: Star War Galaxies
Review: I think this game is awesome. It's a really great role playing game. I like the action, the other people I get to interact with, instead of playing by myself. I haven't had any problems with connecting or game play. I'd recommend this game to anyone interested in some real awesome game play.

Summary: The Complete Roleplaying Game! Excellent!
Review: Star Wars Galaxies may have been released a bit on the early side, and there are certainly some kinks etc to be worked out, but on the whole this is a wonderfully complete roleplaying game experience.

In SWG you aren't simply restricted to hack and slash. You can have that if you want it, for sure, but there are many other roles you can play in the Star Wars universe, many other paths to take and people to get to know. It is really an immersive experience in a different universe where you can perform a variety of tasks and jobs, and see the beautiful graphics of the hige world the developers have created in the meantime.

Ten worlds, completely filled out, each with multiple cities -- a huge, huge gameplay arena. Multiple career paths, ranging from soldiers and scouts to entertainers, medics, artisans and the like. Advancement depends on use of one's skills (eg, shooting for a marksman, dancing for an entertainer, crafting for an artisan), which results in developing higher skill levels, meaning your character can perform more advanced and more efficient skills. You really do have much latitude of choice as to what to do, or not to do, in the game. You can, for example, just hang out with people in the cantina for a while if that's what you want to do, or you can take several hours hunting for resources, harvesting them and crafting them into saleable, usable goods. Or you can spend a few hours mesmerizing the crowds in the local cantina with your musical prowess, making many friends in the process. It's all open to you -- you can even switch paths down the road if you want to. In this sense this game is very lifelife, very roleplaying, you are simply playing a role in a created, alternative universe -- it feels much more like that than it does a game revolving around quests and battles (although it can be that, too, if you want it to be).

The graphics and sound are superb. Sure, upgrade your video driver, but the scalability of these graphics simply means that they will play on many machines regardless, while the higher-end machines get different performance (things you won't see on the lower machines).

In all, this is a great, fun, game -- an immersive roleplaying experience. Buy and enjoy!

Summary: Not the best
Review: The concept of this mmorpg is great, I see many great features implemented that the others should have.

But as far as overall gameplay and play value. I must honestly say, I stayed for 2 months (1 month free with game) then cancelled.

I just became bored at trying to 'raise' my skill points to learn new things. As it seems that is all I was ever doing.
Not my idea of fun =/ Although I am sure others will see it differently.

If you like mmorpg's you should at least give this one a try.

Summary: Nerfing before fixing
Review: I've been playing this game for almost 3 months now. When I first started playing I would have gevin it 4 stars. It was only beta quality, with lots of bugs making certain classes unplayable, but on the whole it was a lot of fun. Almost none of the major problems with the game have been fixed in the intervening time. However the game has been repeatedly nerfed. Every time the management decide to change the game, they do it in favor of tedium over fun. They keep increasing the amount of time you have to spend doing the same tedious tasks. At the same time they make the fun portions of the game ever more innaccesible. Basic features of the game like e-mail and chat are becoming less and less reliable. The game is prone to longer and longer outages at prime time (8-9 PM PST).

Summary: Not Perfect but still great.
Review: I'll just let you know now that this game isn't perfect, but the negative reviews are far from accurate. SWG is a fantastic game that does immerse you in the Star Wars Universe.

One thing I must point out, some people are saying they are focusing more on new features then debugging, well that is not really true. They have two seperate teams working on those issues independently, one for Debugging and fixing the game and one for New Development.

The sad thing is when people complain about things being removed or "nerfed" as they like to call them from the game. What they don't tell you is that these things that are nerfed usually were things in the game that allowed the players to take unfair advantage, exploits, and short cuts. So I would compare the players who complain about those things to people who get upset when they are caught cheating on a test.

Does the game still have some problems; sure but they are being fixed and you must remember that this MMORPG is much bigger and complex than any previously released.

The game is well worth it. Even for someone like me that only plays it on the Weekends, it still gives hours of enjoyment.

So buy Star Wars Galaxies, You'll Like it.

Summary: DONT BUY THIS GAME until you talked to those who have played
Review: This game started out with great potential. However instead of making it better the devs have made it worse. Instead of fixing bugs they nerf. With each major patch is a major nerf and everything you have done or worked on no longer matters.

They call it balancing the game when in fact it is only making the game worse. I have played through the patches with the hope it will get better. I watched as in-game cities become almost ghost towns because so many have stopped playing.

This game isnt worth paying every month to play. A new patch is coming and when it goes live my account goes dead with many others that hung in there only to be dissappointed.

If you buy this game you will only come to get frustrated in the end with the bugs, lag, and esp the nerfs.

Since the idea of playing is for fun I would advise to find something else and save your money.
