Summary: Strong Game, More of the Same
Review: SimCity is one of the longest running and most successful series in computer gaming history, and this addition to the series is just that. Additions of 2 new building sets, new music tracks, more landmarks, gifts and events and new terrains are all great, and much needed, additions to the series.

This in mind, realize that the game in itself is not much more than a SimCity 3000 v2.0. You still use the ever omnipresent isometric graphics, the raw engine remains the same and at $40.00 is enough to set you back a bit.

Hardcore fans of the series will appreciate these new additions, casual players and people new to the series would be well off getting the original SimCity 3000 instead.

Summary: Boring. (And your compuer system must be good)
Review: I find the game very boring. The first time I built a city it was fun, so was the second. But from the third time on it was always the same thing. True, I could have customized the appearance of buildings and so on, but I was not particularly appealed by that. Because there is no "enemy" in the game, the challenge should be to meet the demands of the citizens. But, in truth, their continuos requests just annoy me.

Most scenarios are pretty easy. And again I don't care to play them twice.

One last thing. Although the system requirement printed on the box are pretty low; I have PII 350Mhz and I have to wait minutes when I have to load big towns and scenarios. And seconds when I zoom out.

Summary: Very fun, it will keep you busy for a long time.
Review: Sim City 3000 Unlimited is awesome! It is one of the best games ever made, the graphics are incredible, the sound is incredible, and the power you have over your city is really cool. This game is addictive. I love making my cities very rich with a nice ghetto on the other side of the train tracks. I love this game

Summary: Unlimited for old and new players alike!
Review: For those who don't have SimCity 3000 already, SimCity 3000 Unlimited is the best way to get into the game. The game is nearly identical to the smash hit of 1999. All the same playability, the same city building challenges, etc.

For those who already own SimCity 3000, there are a number of new options that could make it worthwhile to upgrade. In fact, when you install Unlimited on a computer that already has the original 3000, you get the option to transfer over files (like all your old cities). It then even does the uninstall of the old product for you (very nice). Granted, Unlimited does chew up a bit more disk space so you should make sure you have room to spare for the new version.

I'd also suggest you try to get in while the rebate is going on. It will get you back $10 on the price of Unlimited. Then you won't feel so bad spending money on a game you basically already have. Then do what I did: give your old copy of SimCity 3000 to a family member to get them hooked on the game. <grin>

Summary: A Great Game Built on Sound Planning Principals
Review: I first used the SimCity software almost ten years ago while pursuing a masters degree in urban planning and policy. The software was useful as a foundation for a simple, but fun class project. At the time, SimCity was relatively new and basic in its graphics and detail.

Well, the software has come a long way since that time. It is still useful in getting students interested in studying, or at least understanding, the underlying logic (or, sometimes, lack of logic) that is at work shaping the cities and towns in which we live. Some of the features seem a bit frivolous, but do serve to maintain the interest of even the shortest of attention spans.

Since I first played this game several years ago, I have gone on to become a professional city planner. Where the game was once a useful tool in learning the art of the trade, it is now a useful escape to an environment where I have the opportunity to positively shape a simulated urban environment. Not bad for those days, weeks or even months where it seems that things aren't moving fast enough in the real world.

Summary: Makes Simcity 3000 a bit better
Review: I love the new disasters in this addon, and some of the buildings are quite nice to look at. But this addon is basically just some cosmetic changes for the game. Yes, there are new scenarios to, but nothing that much different than ones that i've already played. This got boring after a few hours, mind you, I overplayed Simcity 3000 to begin with :)
