Summary: Better than the 1st - excellent expansion!
Review: When I got the 1st Sims, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It was the perfect game. You build houses, create families and run their lives!! I wound up playing it for hours! When I saw this expansion, I knew I had to have it. I found it to be much better. It brings in so much more that was left out from the first game:

Pros:
1)Great new skins and heads. (Roman emperor, Gladiators, Robin Hood, Maid Marion, etc.
2)Call friends just to chat
3)House themes (Haunted castle, Love shack, Futuristic bungalo)
4)New jobs (Hacker, slacker, journalist)

Cons:
1)It was a little slow loading

Excellent gameplay. I personally found the "love bed" a humorous addition. Watch your Sims go at it. Something I suggest to every Simmer is to check out (fan sites). Download families, skins, heads, household objects, etc. You can download all sorts of heads from a VERY realistic Britney Spears to Fred Durst. You can even download Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Anna Paquin (Rogue), James Marsden (Cyclops), etc. from the X-Men Movie and they're even in the movie costumes! Very Cool.

Another fun addition is the Grim Reaper. When your Sim is near death, in pops the skeleton in the black cloak. (Literally) Watch your Sim beg for his/her life.

But if you prefer a more realistic lifestyle, I wouldn't recommend "Livin' Large" as you can create Frankensteins and keep maid robots to clean up your Sims' messes.

I loved this game. I found it to be even better than the first. The Sims: Hot Date looks like it could be even better than this though!! I would definitely recommend this expansion to those Simmers who have grown tired of the regular lifestyle and are ready for some action. Another game to check out would be the Sims: House Party. But overall: Five Stars.

Summary: Great Fun, But...
Review: As a new Sims addict, I am currently in the process of adding the expansion packs, in the order recommended by Maxis, to my little universe. (Note to other Sims newcomers: The expansion pack instructions advise installing in this order: Livin' Large, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation - otherwise you need to uninstall everything and start over in order to add an earlier expansion if you intend to get them all. Too bad I didn't know that sooner - I received Vacation as a gift shortly after I began playing the original game. It's still sitting on the shelf waiting for me to catch up with the other expansions first.)

Livin' Large definitely adds to the game. Some of the new objects are fantastic - my favorites being the electric guitar (my Sim Bruce Springsteen loves it) and the vibrating bed (finally my Sims can get past second base!) Some fun new career choices too. One of my Sims just gave up her uninspired political career as a campaign manager (she couldn't take the 9-6 working days, and she just couldn't seem to find the time to practice her speech in the bathroom mirror to earn the Charisma points needed to advance). She's now happily employed as a slacker and has extra time on her hands to Play In Bed with Bruce - after he serenades her on the electric guitar, of course. Sure, she's making less money, but she's already got the hot tub and the big screen TV, and if Bruce keeps gaining those creativity points, his friends will stop booing him when he plays the electric guitar and he'll make it to rock star and be in a position to marry her. She'll be fine. Yes, I do spend way too much time with this game, but you get the idea. It's fun.

I do have one complaint with this expansion pack, and it's a big one (hence my three star rating.) As neat as the new objects and skins and things are, I don't feel there are enough to justify the price of this game. For only a few dollars less than the original game, you're really only getting a few extra bells and whistles. It doesn't affect game play much at all. I'd say it was a worthwhile purchase at half the price. Had I played it at a friend's house before buying, I'd have been torn. I know I probably would have given in and bought it anyway - I'm certainly not sorry that I did - but I am a little resentful, since I know that's what Maxis is counting on. Sigh.

Summary: This is an extremely addictive game!
Review:

The Sims: Living Large requires The Sims to play. I highly recommend both games either together or as stand-alone games.

Living Large is a wonderful add on to the fantastic Sims game. You receive some great objects including a chemistry set, crystal ball, guitar and tons of other great furnitures.

The characters are a must have for your game. With Living Large you will get the Grim Reaper (it is a hoot to play rock, paper, scissors with him while bargaining for the life of a deceased Sim!), a genie who really should read his magic book a bit better (he can, among other things, either give you money, leisure objects, make relationships with friends and family members better or he can set objects in your house on fire, flood your house, give it a plague of roaches, kill your plants, give you three huge bills to pay and ruin relationships), Servo the Robot (works much like the maid), the tragic clown (unless you have the Clown Catchers download from Maxis you DO NOT want this guy to visit you!) and a chemistry set spawned monster (upon drinking the purple potion your Sim will turn into a monster--briefly--who will paint a picture if you have an easel, tear up your tv, break all your sinks and clog the toilet).

There are new careers here as well. Maxis has also included game patches that take care of bugs in the original Sims game (like the repairman bug).

For anyone who has played the Sims you know how addictive a game it is. Living Large just helps further feed your addiction.

This game is a must have!!

Review: i think this game is excelent because it is fun and funny.

Summary: Gotta get it!!!!
Review: This game looks amazing! With the new furniture and architecture in Livin' Large, you can create a whole range of environments, including rustic turn-of-the century houses, garish Vegas-style lounges, medieval castles and retro/sci-fi "Homes of the Future." Combine these architectural styles with custom skins to create your own look and feel for the game.

They have added new career tracks, including Slacker, Paranormal, Hacker, Musician, and Journalist. And at home, there will be several new ways to develop your Sims' personalities and skills. I can not wait to play this game!!

As a bonus, they have included all our web downloads to date AND a selection of user-created skins! Wouldn't it be cool to have your skin perhaps on their game!!!

The Sims Livin' Large will give players twice as many new objects as were in the original game. which I think is a REALLY GOOD thing. Because after a few days of play, you are very over the whole 50 object they gave us in the first game.

PLUS THEY ADDED THE BEST FEATURE OF THEM ALL Servo

He is a robot that you can buy that will be your live in maid!!! (like bicentinal man) This is an amazing idea!!!I CAN NOT WAIT TO use this new feature!!!

Well I hope that some of this info has helped you look at the game differently! Thank you so much for taking a look at my review! :)

Summary: Sims Expansion is worth checking out
Review: If you have the Sims and are 13 or older, I believe you must check out the Livin Large Expansion. There are lots of new things that add to the already popular The Sims game.

Newly added items worth mentioning are a vibratory love bed where you players can have a baby, a wooden bench to gain mechanical points, a crystal ball to alter their personality, a chemistry set to gain logical points and drink different potions, an electric guitar to gain creativity points, and just too many to mention here in this review. There are also more chairs, light fixtures, works of art that are really nice looking, wallpaper, windows that are cool and wacky, and textiles that would leave you creating wacky and wild rooms in your weird house.

That's one thing that should also be mentioned is that a lot of the added things to Livin Large are weird, wacky, and wild. It's not as conservative as some of the things in the Original The Sims game.

The new career tracks of Slacker, Journalist, Hacker, Paranormal, and Musician are probably the most conservative addition to the game. There are also new skins, new outfits, new movements that your Sims encounter like after drinking a potion, or launching fireworks.

Another great aspect of the Expansion Pack is that it adds 4 Sim neighborhoods which are created for different family members that want all their Sim characters interacting with their own Sim families, so that you don't have one member's Sims creating conflicts in members Sim family, you can have your own Sim neighborhood because the Sims from one neighborhood can't visit other Sims in another neighborhood. If you have the game you know what I speak of.

If you are a fan of the Sims and find the game strangely addictive, this Expansion may shock you at first but will only add to your enjoyment in playing this game.

Summary: Excellent gameplay for all ages!
Review: Being an avid gamer and walkthrough writer, I tend to buy a new game every 3 days to play. There are few that really grab a tight hold of me ... but this was definitely one. As soon as it came out, I bought one copy for me and another as a present for a relative.

That night I was up until 5am playing my couple - a criminal and a psychic - and building them up in career. Blearily I trudged to bed, dreaming of my Sims.

The next night I promised myself I'd show a little more self control. I created a musician sim - in a fit of amusement I chose Britney Spears - and a partner in a Robin Hood outfit. She started playing on her electric guitar, and the Sim-friends that came by booed their fool heads off. A few hours later, she was ripping amazing riffs on her tiny instrument, and the Sim-buddies were now dancing around the living room. It was amazing.

The wealth of new outfits for your sims, and objects to buy them, is just fantastic. Pets. Giant lights. Interesting, pretty doodads. The gorgeous new 60s windows and wallpaper, plus the gothic candelabras, arrow-slit windows, and even a robot make this an incredible enhancement.

They've got fun jobs available, too. Want to be a Shooting Star in musical fame and glory? How about a slacker (think golf caddy) or hacker, or psychic or more? They're all there, each with their own outfits and career ladders. But wait, it even gets better.

You can have MULTIPLE NEIGHBORHOODS. Now, since a given Sim family often needs 15 or more friends to get to the higher levels, the original game was pretty much one-person-only. You couldn't have multiple people use your computer, because there were a limited number of house lots to go around. The houses were simply needed for the Sim-Pals to live in (in groups of 8 of course). With the new system, each person who wants to play can have their very own neighborhood, where they grow and live to their heart's content.

Sure, there are still a few bugs. Probably the most glaring one is the annoying lack of pathfinding ability. My psychic lost her job when she'd already gotten to Medium status because she was trapped in the bathroom. The maid and an unruly guest blocked both entrances, and I didn't blast a hole in the wall fast enough. In another scenario, a guest came into my kitchen, faced the fall, and refused to move. She in fact fell asleep against the wall. Once again, I had to make a hole in my house for her to escape.

Pathfinding aside, though, the game is enormously addictive and I haven't been to bed before 3am since it has entered the house. The person to whom I gave it as a gift is experiencing the exact same problem. Sure, you can argue, is a high-school-band-teacher *really* a step up from being a lounge singer? By the time you're a Rock Star, with a huge pool and a bar in your back yard, you don't really care. It's just amazingly fun.

Summary: Great game, but is it really worth it?
Review: The Sims livin' large is yet another expansion pack to the incredibly popular sims computer game. Although this was one of the earlier expansion pack releases, it was one of the last that I played. This new addition features many new items and a few new themes. I have to admit, these new features really do enhance the experience and allow much more freedom while playing. But the one question that you must ask yourself before buying is, "Do I really need all of it?" My answer after testing it somewhere else was simply, no. My impression of all of these add-ons is that Maxis is just trying to squeeze more and more money out of you then they should be and are just forcing more and more add ons just to get you to buy every one of them. I think that most people should be able to live with out them all. These expansions are rather fun, but my impression is that you don't need them and that you can still have fun with the original game. So before you stock up on expansions, ask yourself, "do I really need all of it, or will I just be wasting my money?"
