Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Disappointing Expansion
Review: First of all, I want to say that the 2 star rating is not for the original Zoo Tycoon. That's a 5 star game hands down (though as others have mentioned, I like Roller Coaster Tycoon better). The 2 stars is for my disappointment in Dinosaur Digs. This expansion to Zoo Tycoon is not for everyone.

My first problem with this expansion is a personal preference: rather than a dinosaur expansion to Zoo Tycoon, I would have rather seen something akin to what Livin' Large was to The Sims - more animals! And I don't mean dinosaurs. There are inumberable animals that I would have added to Zoo Tycoon to make it more fun for me - animals that exist - and there is so much more they could have done with it.

That leads into my second problem. They didn't add enough valuable gameplay. They threw in a few more dino scenarios. They threw in, yes, a slew of dinosaurs and likewise scenary and exhibit objects. And they added the expensive scientist, and, in my opinion, the rather useless "dinosaur recovery team". Sure they added a few buttons to hide different things. But what about more water animals - and a tank that lets you put up glass/plastic walls underneath so that guests can view them underwater as many zoos do? What about, in general, adding things that make Zoo Tycoon more like a real zoo?

Dinosaurs are too expensive. The fencing, scientists, above-mentioned dinosaur recovery team, and the dinosaurs themselves cost insane amounts of money. Granted, if we really did have dinosaurs to put on display I imagine that would be "realistic", but it's hard enough to keep the money rolling in with normal animals.

On the whole, I was disappointed with the expansion. Some, who liked the idea of dinosaurs in a zoo, may disagree, and I suppose that would be justified, but I would have rather seen 50 new animals and new useful gameplay features (I noticed you still can't turn off the silly shelters to see underneath for trampled terrain - unless I missed something) than dinosaurs. I hope Microsoft decides to make another, more realistic expansion. I love Zoo Tycoon and I'm sure I'd buy it.

Summary: Zoo Tycoon is Number 1!
Review: I used to love the sims, until my friend got Zoo Tycoon. I went crazy! I tried to go to his house every day. Then I started asking my parents for it. I finally got it. It was great! You choose how much cash you want to start with, and you choose what kind of zoo you want. Then you get to build exhibits and stuff for people. And your zoo just gets bigger and bigger! There are also sencarios, where you get a started zoo, and you have to meet a certin goal. Overall, I think this is the best CD-ROM I've ever played.

Summary: Cool game if you like to go to the Zoo
Review: Really fun. Its is almost like real. But the funny thing is when you let the animals out you don't get in trouble. Has alot of animals to choose from. You can also add buildings like animal buildings food places. Be careful don't spend to much money on new animals every second. I really like it that they teach you about animals. Oh yeah if you do well you get awards.

Summary: the news of the zoo
Review: Really good. When you first start it can be hard learning how to use all of the buttons and controls but after you play for a while it is really good. You can go mad on freedom games. You can pick how much money you start with. The puzzles and hard but fun. I really liked this games and everybody out there probabley finds it fun too.

Summary: A Must BUY!
Review: This game is far better than all the other "Tycoon" games. The graphics are good, you dont need a supercomputer to run it, and it is well worth the money! Build zoos in locations all over the world, filled with animals from Penguins to Giant Elephants! Best part: set your animals free (if you want to) and let them terrorize your park, destroying building and even attacking people (if you like that sort of thing). Plenty of scenarios to play and new animals and parks can be downloaded from the Microsoft site. Recommended to everyone, best and most fun game!

Summary: My 5 year old loves it
Review: When we first purchased this game we told our 5 year old that this was an adult game and that he'd have to wait a few years before playing it. He watched us for awhile, got the hang of it and now creates a better zoo than his parents and he's not yet reading. It certainly helps to be able to read but much of it can be done without. Its great for learning about animals and their environments. We highly recommend this game as an alternative to [other gaming] trash. Enjoy!

Summary: Building a zoo can be boring aftter awhile
Review: I was searching online looking for a sim type game and came across Zoo Tycoon. I couldn't wait to get it in the mail.
Pros: great graphics, lots of animals to choose from and download, have there own unique sound, and you just don't put the animals in there you have to make sure their exhibit is suitable.
Cons: Do get boring real fast esspecially having to build an exhibit for each animal time and time again. Don't have enough excitement. The only bad thing that can happen is an animal gets loose and the guests take off running. I don't even know if they even die if they get attack. Overall it is okay, and because I am a fan of sim type games I'll probably play it again down the line.

Summary: So fun!!
Review: I loved this game, mostly because I love animals. It's really fun designing the perfect zoo, everything from the animals habitats to the ice cream stand. I had only three problems with it, 1)You can't speed up time. This can be annoying if you're doing a scenrio and you finish the objectives before your time is up. 2) I didn't think you could really zoom in enough. There were twi sttings, far away and really far away. It would have been better to get closer to the animals and people. 3)The zookeepers are really, really, stupid. You can assign a million of them to one exhibit, and the animal will still be starving in a filthy cage.

These things are annoying, but not enough to ruin the game. I still recomend that you should buy it.

Summary: Very addictive!!
Review: I was kind of leary to by this game considering it has the tycoon word in it. I was skeptical after having purchased roller coaster tycoon and all of it's expansion packs. I took the chance since I do love animals as much as roller coasters. The first thing I noticed with this game was the fact that it had better explanations on how to work the tools through tutorials unlike the roller coaster tycoon. In fact after a couple of the easy games I became so hooked that I found myself playing it for up to eight hours at a time on my days off. I also liked the feature of downloading different animals and park features off of the zoo tycoon website. The only thing that would make this game better is if they would add Meerkats!

Summary: Pretty good
Review: I *loved* Roller Coaster Tycoon, so when I saw Zoo Tycoon and read that they played similar, I couldn't wait to pick it up.

I don't like it as much as I liked RCT though...it's RCT minus the fun of building the roller coasters, which I really enjoyed.

I do like building the zoo, however. The animals are neat, the sounds and graphics are pretty good, and the interface was easy for me to use. I do miss some of the RCT features though, like controlling the prices of your food kiosks globally. The patrons of your zoo are much more varied and interesting than the "peeps" of RCT.

Overall, a good fun game, but not quite as addicting as RCT was. I'm already getting a bit bored with it, and have had it only a month.
