Summary: Great!
Review: I love this game! Having to play the tutorial with every new game is a drawback, but it's more than made up for by the rest of it. Best for builder-types (if you like SimCity, this means you) are the skirmish games. Most of the time the enemies on those "mini-games" aren't so adamant about getting to you, so you can build HUGE cities ("villages" is not the word to describe how big these settlements can get) before you take over the whole land. As for the constant crying of "must have wood!" "We need homes!", you can SHUT THAT RACKET OFF by going into Options and selecting No Help. It's a great improvement once that's shut down--you can then go within 100 virtual feet of a store without getting bugged. Neutral is the easiest way to play, but I find myself trying to be 100% either way for the challenge. Getting a glowing creature (good) or getting bats to happen instead of doves (evil) both require a lot of discipline, because elements from both alignments come in handy and it's hard to abstain entirely from either type of action. About the only thing that's really not fair is that it thinks you're evil if you blast the enemy towns even if you help out your towns A LOT (I think that should equate to neutral, but it doesn't)!! You've got to watch that your creature doesn't see you doing anything you don't want it to do, or it'll be hard to drive the habit from it. Other than that, the creature is quite fun and he's a lot easier to train than a real animal! Especially potty training! Although it will keep on eating things that make it sick (duh) unless trained not to. As for the tech issues, it works fine on a high-end computer--no problems with XP and a 128Meg GeForce video card. The old cheapie computer had some graphical issues which were a pain, but it was still worth it compared to having to play the other video games out there.

Summary: Windows XP Pro
Review: I haven't played this game yet but my kids sure like it. I just installed xp pro and had to reinstall Black & White. Well it wouldn't work and I thought that was gonna be it. So just for the hell of it I tried to run it under windows 2000 compatibility mode (instead of 98/ME) and it works great.
Right click on the game then choose properties. Choose compatibility tab then check the run in compatibility mode box then choose windows 2000. Finally check the run in 640x480 box.
The setup book said 16 bit color so I have that set in my display properties. Right click the screen the choose properties. Good Luck.

Summary: What?
Review: It's as though somebody had a good idea, and then decided against it, and chose to go with what the lunchlady said instead. Avoid.

Summary: If you have XP or XP pro don't get this!!!!!
Review: This game wont work with XP nor XP pro no matter what you do to your settings as suggested on the games website for XP users. There is no way to get this game to work. It'll start up with the title screen then boot you back to the desktop screne. I wish the makers of this game would make a patch for this game to work on XP and XP pro. If they ever do then try buying this game. Otherwise your going to have to downgrade your operating system to ME or 2000.

Summary: you are a bore(oh, I mean a god)
Review: What a waste of money. If you love the endless hours of searching for things like rocks, and especially if searching for your lost pet is a favorite thing to do, then for sure buy this game. If you get off on beating your dog, buy this game. If you love to waste money buy this game. Otherwise save your money and go rent spy kids 2, it'll be lots more fun and take way less time.

Summary: A terrible game, stay away
Review: Like many others, I bought into the hype when this game was released and bought it at full price. Easily the worst gaming-related purchase I have made. Endless micro-management of your worshipers, clunky and awkward controls, and boring missions and objectives. Stay far away from this waste of money and time.

Summary: Warning on system requirements
Review: This is not so much a review, but simply information that I am suppying to those who may need it. I played this game a few years ago, and I liked it, although I didn't love it. Since then, I have gotten a new computer, which is a Dell with Windows XP. I decided I wanted to play again today, but found that I couldn't run the game. You must have your color palette set to 256 colors in order to run this game. In new computers like mine, you are not even given this option. To find out if this is a problem for you, go to the "Display" area of your "My Computer" file. Click on the "Settings" tab. If you are able to put your settings to 256 colors, you will see the option right there. If you can't find it anywhere, you are in the same boat as me, which means that your computer is too advanced to run this game.

Summary: You are God
Review: Black & White is a game where you are the God of a village and you need to get every villager on the island to worship you. You do this by giving bad harvests, mudslides and forest fires if they don't worship you and a good harvest, lots of fish, and plenty of cows if they do. You also have this pet. You can choose what to teach the pet, for example, to break dance, if you play your cards right. Your pet will battle other God's pets if you get the other God's powers. It's pretty fun, but it's hard to get the camera were you want it, which is a big problem.

Summary: Hours of endless fun.
Review: This is one very detailed game! Make sure you have a good computer to get the best results from this game. It may seem intimidating at the beginning because of all the different control options, but believe me you'll master it in no time. There are so many things to do in this game and you can choose to be a good god or an evil god so there are different outcomes each time you start a new game. Make sure you have a lot of free time though, because I guarantee you'll be hooked.

Summary: Awesome Graphics! A little boring after a while, tho.
Review: This Game is absolutely wonderful. I love that I get to play God, and that I get to raise a creature, and that I can pick whether or not I'm good or bad! The only reason I give it a 4/5 is because after a while, it gets a little boring trying to influence village after village. It needs a little more action! Over all though, I've had this game for a while, and I still play it....a lot.
