Rating: Summary: An O.K. Expansion Review: Sure The Sims is a good game, but I am not happy with this expansion. First of all, you can't control your pet, you have to install two cd's, which takes a long time, cats and dogs takes up a family member spot(if you have seven members in your family you can only get one cat or dog), and also, everyone has been saying that you can get a monkey, well, to bad for us because you can't. All you can get are dogs, cats, turtles, iguanas, goldfish, love birds, and budgies(birds). The only good things is that you get three new neighborhoods, 15 community lots, a bunch of new items, new walls, roofs, wallpaper, floors, and cool new gardens which get destroied by gophers, bunnies, racoons , and skunks. That is why I give The Sims Unleashed only 3 out of 5 stars. Also if you don't know cheats press control, shift and C at the same time. Then type rosebud !;!;!;!;!; and then add k. It will say no such cheat, but if you hold enter, your money goes up.
Rating: Summary: Incredible! Review: Unleashed is, by far, the best expansion.OBJECTS Here's the rundown on some of the new objects: • New skins • New NPCs • New floors and walls • One new sofa (looks velvety) • New garden-type furniture (table, chairs and bench) • As far as tables and counters, just a few new ones • A couple of new pictures • New decorations such as the Geranium Flower Stand (very nice) and Neptune's Sorrow Iron Fountain • The only thing new as far as appliances would be the two pantries where you can store the crops you harvest. The pantry basically functions as a refrigerator if you have enough crops. • There's a new bathtub/shower combo and a toilet stall. • There are a couple of new light fixtures, one being the "No Rustle" Ceiling Fan. PET OBJECTS The core of this game is, obviously, about the pets. So mainly, the new objects are for your pets. They are: • Classic Goldfish Bowl • Pet PlaCater (food bowl for dogs and cats) • Scratcheriffic Scratching Post • Love in a Cage (Birdcage for small birds) • Dura-Bean Pet Bed (Fleece-looking pet bed) • Timid Turtle Action Playset • Annapurna Pet Feeder (fancier food bowls for dogs and cats) • Dunginator 9000 (nice-looking kitty litter box) • Happy Paws Cuddle Sack (Another dog/cat bed) • Critter Condo (red doghouse) • Shag Spyer (big playset for cats - cats can also sleep in it) • Persian Plush Pet Bed (very royal-looking pet bed) • Squeak-EE-Clean Pet Tub (got to wash and dry those dogs!) • Pad Prolifique (Roman-looking doghouse) • Crake's Cabinet (for those awards your pet will win at the pet shows - my dog brought home the "booby prize" because he bit the judge!) • Mr. Beau - A cockatoo and one of the two pets you can purchase in "Buy Mode" - as opposed to going to the pet adoption center) • Forgotten Jungle Terrarium - A house for your iguanas • Speaky Scarlet - A macaw and the other bird you can purchase in buy mode • Feline Funinator - Another cat play system • The Aviary - a huge bird cage for lots of birds Game play is wonderful. A lot of people are saying their game loads faster now and the same goes for me. PETS There are 12 types of cats and 12 types of dogs you can get. You can play fetch, hug, pet, teach them tricks. You can teach them to sit & stay, jump, etc. I've heard that the pets can jump up on the sofas and beds, but mine haven't yet. It is hilarious to watch what they go off and do on their own. You can't control them like you can your other Sims. One of my Sims tried to call her new dog. The dog walked the other way. You can also teach your pets to greet your Sim when they come home from work. The dog or cat will come running to the edge of the sidewalk where your Sim has just gotten out of the car and the Sim will reach down and pet the dog or cat. My dog was unhappy because my Sim wasn't playing with him so he dug up the garden! Then my Sim tried to pet him and got bitten. The dog also fought a raccoon and chased him away. A skunk sprayed my dog but the skunk wouldn't leave. So a notice popped up saying my Sim could call Animal Control and for 20 simoleons, they would come and take the skunk away. Pets go with you to Old Town and on Vacation but they don't go downtown. When they do go with you, they'll find other pets to play with, they'll go to sleep or they'll simply explore. One thing I've noticed (that's a bit of a pain) is that when your Sim is at home, there can be a lot of strays on your lot. I've even had stray cats and dogs come in the house. Your Sim can "Shoo" the dog or cat but I've also noticed some of these dogs digging holes in my Sim's yard. STUFF FOR YOUR PETS Besides the objects you can purchase in "Buy Mode," you can go to Old Town and purchase treats, collars and toys. The toys part is a little deceiving, though. You give the toys to the dog or cat and then they disappear (just like when you give one Sim a gift). So it's not like your dog is going to run around the house with his squeaky toy. The cool part about the collars is that you can buy all sorts of different colors of collars (even a spiked collar). When you're ready to give it to your cat or dog, you actually put the collar on them and it stays there on your pet! NEIGHBORHOOD The new neighborhood screen is unbelievable. You now have 40 lots to play with instead of 10 from the main screen. You can also zone these as community or residence so if you'd rather have a house where a community lot is, just rezone. This is also a good way to combine your Sims from other neighbordhoods into just one. Maxis included a lot of pre-made lots. So if you're not one that likes to build new lots, you'll have plenty of lots to play with. CAREERS You also have five new careers to play with. They are: Fashion You start off as a department store clerk Education You start off as a playground monitor Animal Care You start off as a dog walker Culinary You start off as a dishwasher Circus You start off as a popcorn vendor GARDENING You can purchase seeds or vegetables in Old Town. Go home and plant the seeds (green beans, lettuce, tomatoes or carrots). A bunny keeps eating my carrots. Keep an eye on your crops because you need to weed, water and harvest your crops. GENERAL The new interactions and animations are what make this game a must-have. Everything from the palm reader to the dogs that chase the paper girl. Unfortunately, this review only scratches the surface of Unleashed. There's too much to tell and not enough space!
Rating: Summary: The best game Review: Sims unleashed is about the best game maxis has made for the sims. It is all about where you go to this place called old town. You can go to the farmers market, pet stores, and just hang out in a park with the other sims you made. You have now 41 lots in each neiborhood. That is usefull for when all your friends want to live in your neiborhood. The pets are awsome that is the whole thing in the game. They are not those cheapy little pets that you got off the internet. they actually walk around your screen and interact with the racoons and skunks that come in your neiborhood. They have dogs, cats, birds, iguanas, and fish. This is something all sims lovers should have.
Rating: Summary: Better than a walk in the park with "Mans' Best Friend" Review: This has been the most fun since the Sim's first came onto the scene. I have downloaded many "pets" and the wait was well worth it. Thank you to all of the fans that created on-line pets without all of you Maxis may not have done so well! Unfortunately I will be putting those pets to rest Except for Spooky my cornsnake and Porky the Pig...
Rating: Summary: Great game but beware of requirements Review: I love this game. Maxis has finally ended components that gamers have wanted for a long time, pets, gardening and new careers!! But the game is not compatible with Windows 2000, so be careful before you buy!
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Review: The Sims Unleashed is a REALLY AWESOME game! This game is so much fun! You can have pets and you can interact with stray animals. You can also get sprayed by skunks, which is fun, in a way. If you have a cat and birds, the cat will try to eat the birds. It's interesting..... Also, the neighborhoods are HUGE! It is SO COOL! And it doesn't cost money to travel places in the neighborhood. That is VERY nice. This game is WAY COOL, and I totally recommend it to everyone!
Rating: Summary: Never Play But Looks Really Fun Review: This game has to be one of the best of the sims expantion pacs along with vacation and hot date. There are like 150 more things and about 50 more jobs not to mention more areas AND PETS. What an idea. Maxis will think of everything. This sims are going to be on Playstaion 2 and the INTERNET. The little neighborhood thing in the Sims is going to be a whole world neiborhood. THANK YOU MAXIS!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This game was the best game I have ever played. The fact that it has pets is even better!I mean you'd have thought that they were finished with the 'Vacation' and 'Hot Date' packs. But this.Whoa, its outreageously GOOD!... The veggie market and things, perhaps I should take the cd and hang it on a wall.IT's a work of ART!
Rating: Summary: Invest in memory first! Review: Hey everyone in Sim Land!! I would just like to say that I, too, love playing the Sims Unleashed. There are a few problems, however, and I'd just like to let them be known. When you go to community lots, the WHOLE family HAS to come, which is not very ideal because of the glitches in "public" areas, especially if you purchase anything. Any time you attempt to buy anything in the community lots, the game will slow WAAAAAAAYYYYYYY down. I'd say it takes a good half an hour real time to buy a dog, a collar, and call the trolley to pick you up. This is not a memory problem with my computer. I have 192 megabytes worth of memory, as compared to the 64 MB that computers usually are bought with. So, if you want to have pets for your Sims, prepare to be EXTREMELY patient, and learn to except the fact that they'll never include overhead counters for your kitchen in any expansion pack.
Rating: Summary: Seriously Bugged Review: I own all the expansions except Hot Date, and this is the first in the series that is badly bugged and unstable. In Windows 98 it drops to desktop frequently, some Sims become completely unusable as certain crashes happen at the same spot for that Sim every time. You could lose your entire family if you have 98 and use this expansion. Under XP it doesn't crash but there are still nagging problems: - the 'superfast' clock speed, the one that pops up automatically and you cannot go to yourself, frequently stops in mid-day or mid-night for no reason. - Water leaks under toilets and tubs and cannot be cleaned up by the Sims (though the maid gets it). - The movement AI was never good, but now it's even worse than before. - Neighborhood stray pets are a nuisance, especially skunks and el bandito (racoon), though I've had fewer burglars so they may merely replace burglars. - Sims seem to need substantially more sleep than before. I had a steady schedule for my family, and now I have lost an hour or so due to new, higher sleep requirements. If you have Windows 98 I'd pass on this expansion rather than risk losing my existing families. If you have XP I wonder whether the game adds more than it subtracts in problems. The pets are okay, and the larger neighborhood is nice ...
