Summary: GOOD RTS game, tons of gameplay
Review: I enjoyed playing this game, its right up your alley if you enjoy the Command and Conquer series of games. Its pretty much like C&C except for the science fiction inspired setting and technology (the game is inspired by Frank Herbert's Dune universe). There is a ton of gameplay here, with dozens of missions you can play for each of the three houses in the game.

The 3-D engine is well implemented, the graphics are well done and look great with a good video card (I have a GE Force 3), though I found that I didn't want to change my battlefield perspective very much as this could become confusing. My favorite animation was of one of the huge sandworms crashing up though the sand and gobbling up a pack of units and men. The cut scenes are very well done and add quite a bit to making the game world and the scenarios seem believable. The missions do become repetitive, however, and I found that I could apply the same tactic over and over and win the mission (there was only one mission I lost and this was because of some bug in the game that caused my spice harvesters to refuse to begin harvesting spice, which you need for money to build stuff). I found that with most missions I could just build up my base's defenses and then build up an air force large enough to bomb the enemy's base to the ground. I still found most of the missions enjoyable, but the designers could have put more thought into mission design.

All in all, though, if you enjoy the Command and Conquer series and enjoy burning and salting the enemy's base, then this game is for you.

Review: Great gameplay, the best RTS i've played in a long time. Right up there with Ground Control. Only downside is the fact that you're fighting on arrakis. what a horrible planet. ah, yes, and the game plays a little too fast.

Summary: A little advice
Review: When I first started the game,Atreides was by far the best.
They've the best weapons I ever saw, including the sonic tank.
Even the ornithopter's back, and you control where they go this time.Everything went well until I had to face the Emperor Worm.
He's incredible, & I could never beat him. So I'm asking if any body has any ideas.

Review: It was that darn Dune II that addicted me to computer gaming in the first place. It was the first strategy game ever made and it was brilliant! Weekend after weekend I looked forward to going to my mother's job so I can play the Dune II on her office computer.
Because of my fascination with the first game and Frank Herberst's books I bought and will buy every Dune RTS computer game. So I the fact that I have Emperor Battle for Dune is not a surprise for me.

While I enjoyed the game initially I notice that my interest in it diminished dramatically after few days of playing it. The game looked great but at the end the gameplay was simply unsatisfying. I could just build a small horde of Saurdakar on every mission and easily beat the level. Some of the units were poorly thought out while others were just too powerful.

The atmosphere of the desert was also lacking. The sand and rock terrain felt too much the same. For example, units did not slow down when in sad vs. when on rocky terrain. They did not leave any sand tracks!! A small but a brilliant touch employed even in the primitive Dune II.

I could go on and on about Emperor's shortcomings but overall I have to say that it was a decent game. It had many downfalls but the story was interesting and cut scenes were satisfying.

Summary: Great Graphics, Low Strategy
Review: It is a great game with wonderful graphics, but it takes a very, VERY monsterous system to run at full strength.....On my Pentium 4 2.5 Gz with a 64 mb video card it still has some lag problems on medium to low resolution......but it still looks great nonetheless....and this game also misses the point on strategy....not much strategy....build up forces and send em in and hope you end up with the bigger army...... The story is pretty messed up to, especially if you are huge fan of dune such as I... It feels kind of strange defeated the God Emperor with the Atreides army..(sorry, that was kind of a spoilier)....but if you can get it for the 19.99-25.00 range, then get it and pray you have a great video card and comp to support it!

Summary: Primo Game
Review: This game rocks. I love the detail available as well as the ability to do many different things within the gane. My only negative comment might be that on a standard PC the game is sometimes a bit choppy speedwise. Aside from that I heartily recommend this game.

Summary: Best game ever (with the drawbacks of course)
Review: Alright id have to say overall this game was great. Ive been playing the game for years, seen he movie about a milion times an read all of the books (thats like 8 of em i think) and am currently on that new one that came out about the butlerian Jihad. This game overall is a good portayal of the dune theme and augmented excellently into a game that stands by itself apart from Frank and Brians other Dune acheivements. It has some good details for one. I especially liked that if Sardukar hit sheilded lazer cannons they both explode :). In other respects the original is bastardized in countless ways. The are TONS of minor inaccuracies that taken alone are just annoying but so many of them together are a drawback. Just a few examples are the Artredes Kindjal infantry, The whole concept of holtzman generators being destroyed in few hits and moving across the sand, the high levels of technology which are shunnd by the great houses. There are also the major discrepancies in plot. First off what the hell is the whole war? there was never a war of assasins in anything ive read. And second is... umm house Ordos? their gonna create an entire house just for the game? As you can see i am an extreme Dune geek and i know i focused on the negative in this review but despite the minor drawbacks i emphasized, its an incredible buy.

Summary: A Challenging Graphics-pushing Beast!
Review: I've been playing the Dune series since it all started a long time ago. This one really adds a unique touch that Dune 2 and Dune 2000 just don't have. Much more units and options. I thought I was good at it but I guess the gameplay is a little too challenging at the moment. I can't seem to progress past the third level now, so I've bought the Prima's Official Strategy Guide in hope to learn my way into this game. Quite the challenge! The mouse control is WAY better than Warcraft III too. Just sit back and do almost everything w/ the mouse.

Also, this game really pushes graphics. Frame rate was quite choppy, even at low resolution with a 16MB ATI Rage 128 PCI card on a 350MHz cpu with 128MB RAM, but has been dramatically improved with my 128MB Nvidia Ti4600 on a 2.26 GHZ Intel P4 and 512 RDRAM. Now, even with 1600x1200 resolution I'm getting smoothe framerate. Don't buy the game if you don't have a FAST computer! You'll end up leaving it on the shelf cuz you just can't have any fun with the choppy frame rate.

Summary: Take AofE, add sand, voila
Review: I would normally try to give you a comprehensive review, but if you're always looking for the next best RTS (like me) you're probably already familiar with this game.

Forget about comparing it to previous Dune titles. I'm constanly running into the same game with different fixings: C&C, Age of Empires, Star Wars, and now Dune. Collect, spend, fight, collect, spend, fight. Boring but still fun if you haven't tired of the same old formula.

Summary: Excellent Game
Review: I've been playing the Dune series games by Westwood since the early 90's from Dune, Dune 2, etc. If your a fan of these series you will love this game. The graphics are stunning, the AI is exceptional. The story lines and RTS all follow the same quality you would expect from Westwood. There is a little learning curve because of the 3D transition, but once you get used to it, it's hard going back to the 2D games such as Red Alert.
