Summary: a short undetailed review of Halo PC
Review: Halo is now one of those games that somebody 10 years from now will probably remeber. The pc version is no different,it has great gameplay and a smooth interface and frankly, when compared with many other good shooters such as the Call of Duty, halo does fine. BUT as people before me have mentioned the level design is probably the worst i have ever seen in a shooter. the multiplayer is being fixed by multiple patches so there is no problem with the multiplayer.

Summary: Great game
Review: It's more than I expected. It is a solid first person shooter. It has great online play and single player missions. I'm not able to play too much online because I have a 56k modem. But other than that it is great. See you on the battlefield.

Summary: Well.....
Review: The Xbox verson was, in my opinion, much better for single player. As for multiplayer, the new additions are fun and all but well, they dont truely beef up the expereince that much (with the exception of the banshee of course). However, for LAN parties there are very few games that can compare. There is nothing quite like rushing your neighbor's base and killing his entire team with an armada of banshees on blood gultch. If youre a big LAN Partier definetly get this game. Otherwise, buy it for the Xbox and hook up Gamespy Tunnel

Summary: Not the XBox version
Review: Most of the people who are reviewing this game have never played the XBox version. When you see people write about how the graphics are not that great, their right. I have been playing Halo for the XBox for more than two years now, most of it online through Gamespy or XBconnect. I bought this because it's hard as a single player to get a game online with the XBox. I installed it and started it, and INSTANTLY I could tell a difference in graphics quality. The XBox version of Halo has MUCH better graphics. Even toned down for the PC, you need a strong machine to run it, and it's still not close to the graphics quality of the XBox version.

I've played through the storyline so many times I'm not going to play it again on the PC. I bought this for the multiplayer. People are also complaining about all the team killing. Yes, I've seen some of that, but it's not TOO bad. Also, you can turn off friendly fire, but not everyone who makes a room does. But, and this is a big but, everything in the PC version seems a little slower than the XBox version. I'll shoot someone, and it seems to take a moment for the shot to register. It's not nearly as responsive as the online Xbox version. Forget grabbing the sniper rifle, it's just too hard to get a clean shot. And for those of you playing on Gamespy or XBconnect, there is STILL lag! I was hoping playing the PC version would have done something to decrease lag, but it's still there. Not bad, but still bad enough to notice.

But, I still love this game! I have only had this game for about a week and a half, and I'm really having fun playing it online. I've already sunk hours into it. I've never played a Halo game (with the exception of tournaments) with 16 people. The action is fast, and the deaths come quickly. Imagine 16 people in Wizard! I still hate alien weapons. Just give me a pistol and a couple of grenades, and I'm a killing machine.

If you've been thinking of getting this game, I hope this review helps a bit.

See ya on the map,
Craig

Summary: TK'ers keep this from being a 5 star game ...
Review: I'm all about multiplayer teamplay over the internet, and this game brings out much of the best in that. What makes this game especially great is:

- Many different team game objectives to play. Capture the flag is still the most popular, but there are quite a few other team strategies (King of the Hill, Oddball, Slayer, etc.) that are fun to play as well. Being able to play games with different objectives keeps the game fresh.

- Vehicles, vehicles, and more vehicles. The jeeps rock, as they are used by up to three players at once (a driver, a passenger, and a gunner in the back). Also, there are tanks that have deadly firepower, a flying "banshee" which can dominate the map, and "ghosts" that are single-rider "hovercrafts". Vehicle use on the rugged terrains of most maps makes the game super fun.

- Nice assortment of hand-carried weapons. Because the single player game has humans vs. aliens (I'm dumbing down the storyline a bit), you get an interesting and fun mix of weapon types. These weapons are quick and easy to learn. You can carry only two weapon types, so getting a good team balance in weaponry is important.

- Graphics, audio, and internet play are solid. I have a high quality computer here, so I suggest reading other people's reviews who have machines more towards the minimum requirements for assessment on how the game plays for them.

- Team-oriented play is a must. With mostly large maps, and respawns usually right near the home bases (where the flags are kept), building a strong assault force mixed with vehicles, weapons, and players are a must. Soloing won't get you very in this game.

What needs to be done differently:

#1 issue - Implement a votekick or autokick system over the internet. Currently, there are a handful of disfunctional players known as "team killers" (TK'ers) who intentionally try to disrupt games by killing all their teammates. This is why I didn't give this game five stars. Quite simply, it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch.

#2 issue - Bootup issues. I have a brand new, jacked up computer. I play a lot of different games, and this is one of only two games that gives me issues. The good news is that it only happens when I first boot up the game. If I get the game running, it is fine for me. This game boots up successfully everyone time after a fresh reboot of my computer. This problem doesn't happen too often, but when it does, it is a minor inconvenience to have to reboot my system. Other than that, the game is quite stable once I'm on the internet playing.

I strongly recommend this game if you like team-based, action games. The vehicle and weapon assortment give this game a fun flavor. Please note, there is a "mature" rating on this game, which I believe is appropriate given the level of combat simulated violence presented in the game. Enjoy!

Summary: Diapointment
Review: This game make s me very very sad!! I will start by saying that i had high hopes for this one but system requirments are way above the ones that shown on a box. I have a good computer and in order for the thing to run properly or close to normal i have to bring video to its lowest so graphics start to look realy bad and even than it is slow like its freaking 10 years old computer. Compare to MOHAA and other games this dosn't even come close. Although game itself is somewhat interesting, desing is very uninspired but battles are fun and vechicles are good to. But in some rooms of the game I have trouble guessing if I was in same room or i came from somwhere else.
Basicly this game sucks realy bad so buy "Call of duty" instead. The only reason i gave a two star is the nice story everything else is diapointing. THE END.

Summary: Horrible performance even on top end system!
Review: On a 2.4Ghz 1gb ram 128mb high end geforce video card the game runs slower than molasses. Compared to Call of Duty, Medal of Honor etc this thing is just painfully slow if you get more than 2 aliens on the screen at a time. Given that the graphics are much poorer than these other games there is no apparent excuse for this, other than incompetent programmers. Avoid this one!

Summary: Too good to be true...
Review: I had played the X-Box version with friends and enjoyed it even though I dispise the X-Box controller. I guess I expected too much from Gearbox (incase u don't know Gearbox had a hand in Half-Life) because upon my second week of owning it I hated this game. To sum up Halo: ALL FLASH, NO SUBSTANCE. This game has great graphics but nothing new besides. The lack of a console (~ in game menu) was just another nail in it's crappy-ness coffin.
Play this game before you buy it. Especially play it online!
I will now break down what I like and don't like:

What I Like about Halo:
+ Awsome Graphics
+ Good Single Player (for the most part)
+ Simple & customizable controls (a little to simplistic)

What I hate about Halo
- A lack of good servers online
- Multiplayer game-modes suck
- Nothing new in the way of game play
- Needs some MOD-ing or something
- Controls are a little too simplistic

My recommendation:
1. Buy Half-life with Counter-Strike.
2. Call of Duty.
3. Medal of Honor Allied Assault and all the expansions.

Final thought:
Good but there are much better games (see above).

Summary: So Yesterday
Review: I'm sure Halo was "all that" several years ago but compared to newer games like Battlefield 1942, it looks dated and plays clunky. I'm really sorry I wasted my money on this one. It should have been priced at $9.95 rather than at the full price for a new game. My advice, save you money for Half-life 2.

Summary: EXCELLENT AND EASILY BETTER THAN X-BOX VERSION!
Review: To the person who said "I won't buy it because I already have it for the X-Box", let's just say no TV save a 5000 dollar plus all digital version will EVER look better than a computer monitor. It is a known fact. Televisions have too high of a dot pitch and are thin compared to the best CRT monitors by Sony and Viewsonic! Even the digital TVs just are not made for playing games that push all of that color by the nVidia or Radeon ATI graphics cards. The X-Box is the best console but will and can never beat a computer. To those serious gamers looking for the best graphics and sound hands down, get the PC Windows version. Like Serious Sam, it is great with sound and graphics.
