Summary: Great game!
Review: I think that the all new Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 is a really cool game. When buying, I thought that I might need to load the original Roller Coaster Tycoon but you don't need that on your system to play it! Not only that but I think that the roller coasters that are included with this game are much better than some of the original designs included with the first one, but they are also here with the second one, so it is all gain gain gain, and no loose! I love this game, and all I can say is that if you like roll playing games, or if you liked the first Roller Coaster Tycoon, you WILL like this one! Happy Playing!

Summary: Fantastic Game
Review: My only problem with this game is I bought it about 2 days after I purchasd the expansion packs for RollerCoaster Tycoon I (RCT for short), because of this I was not quite prepared and ready for the RCT II. But let me tell you now that I have figured it out, it is a blast. I have more fun with this game than RCT I.

To prove that to you let me go through some of the cool things on RCT II.

First: The six flags option is incredible. Being able to use build and maintain actual six flags parks is incredible.

Second: The building options on the game are also much better. You are allowed to build your coasters much higher and that makes things incredibly fun to build.

Third: So many eating places...so many drink places...So many new and exciting rides. There are so many new things that if you are a veteran of the game and know RCT I really well, it will make you excited to see the new and improved rides.

Fourth: Veteran RCT gamers, in just about every way that you wanted the first RollerCoaster to improve upon. Has been! Okay bigger parks, better parks. More options for pathways and queue lines. It is INCREDIBLE.

For those first time players of the game, I would suggest starting with the Gold Edition which gives you the original RCT game as well as the two expansion packs. Start with the easy ones, because some of the later games are difficult to get into until you have a basic knowledge and appreciation of the game. Overall RCT the series is wonderful and is fun for all ages. If you buy it make sure that you start with RCT I and then move on to RCT II.

Summary: Better then "Rollercoaster Tycoon Loopy landscapes"
Review: "BETTER THEN EVER!!!" Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 is the best addictive game there is. Once you start, the fun don't stop. WARNING: I put it on a compuer with Windows(r) 98 and it did not work -- I put it on another computer with Windows(r) 2000, and it worked, so its better to putit on there because, there is a 50/50 chance it will work. CAUTION: Read the book FIRST! I didn't, but then I did and it was like I designed the game!

Summary: Landscaping features are the best
Review: If you loved the landscaping features in RCT1 like I did, then RCT2 is for you! The new RCT2 has a scenario editor lets you create the most awesome landscapes, buildings, sceneries, themes and water features all without contraints of time or money! And what makes the possibilities endless is that by holding the shift key you can STACK those features one on top of the other, to your heart's content. Stack pieces of wall with windows. Float blocks as ceilings. Stack pipes on top of one another. I've spent every day since I bought the game (The day it came out)using the scenario editor; just making the most amazing parks for people to eventually build rides in. You can save your landscape as a file as you go along and then also save a scenario file with the landscape as the park. People will finally be able to share their creative parks with others! (You can also save a game as a scenario and choose which rides you want to keep in the scenario!)

Of course there are loads of additional rides and coasters to choose from. Every scenario is available from the beginning, so there is no frustration of having to solve one to get to another. Cool new mini animations from some of the scenery themes. Easier coaster maker. (gets rid of trees automatically and lets you build higher coasters)

Once you learn how to stack scenery in the scenario editor, you'll be landscaping for days!!

A definate buy for those who love the landscaping & scenery part of RCT. The feel is the same as RCT1. (Smoother looking in places though) So if you buy it expecting that and not some major overhaul, then you'll be happy. And if you wait, I guarantee there will be more scenarios and parks to explore that others have created and posted on the web. We'll see the scenarios that come with this new version pale in comparison to what you come up with!!

Summary: If you are a b ig fan of the first game, don't buy this one!
Review: A lot was promised before the release of this game. New rides, new coaster types, new shops and stalls, a great new scenario editor, larger landscapes, unlimited rice pudding, peace on earth, etc etc etc...

However, I fear this game is and will be a huge dissapointment to die-hard fans of the original game. While it is true that there are a few new things (and I really do mean a FEW) they have also removed many features of the original game that made it a lot of fun.

First of all, don't believe the hype about all the new rides. There are, in fact, only several new rides (only 2 new flat rides that I counted, as a matter of fact). At first glance it seems like there are a heck of a lot, but what's actually happened is that instead of being able to change the ride vehicle on a single type of ride, different vehicles on the same type of track now count as different rides. Go figure.

They have added a lot of new scenrery, which allows you to do fun things like build complete buildings, but the way in which you acomplish this is very cumbersome (and actually impossible sometimes considering the game won't always allow you to stay in the underground view mode while placing objects). Furthermore, they took almost all of the "building" land types away (and replaced with scenry walls) which means where it used to take a few seconds to build a nice building, it now takes hours of tedious work. (This IS supposed to be a game right? How is this FUN?)

You also can not mix path types and support structures, like you could in the first one. You are also limited to the rides, attractions, and scenry you can have in any given game, meaning you can NEVER actually use everything.

The final straw for me in this new game is they also removed the ability to use the "landscape brush" in the game mode. In the previous incarnation, you could click the landscape brush until you were able to make mountains and valleys with a single pull-up or push-down of the land. You'd get nice smooth terrain out of it. NO MORE. You can only do it in the scenario editor, and not in the game. WHAT A PAIN! Now if you want to landscape you must shape each individual square of land. (How is this fun?)

If you are a die-hard fan of the original game, save your money and skip this one, at least until a better version comes out.

Summary: Roller Coaster Tycoon II
Review: Overall this game is worth the money to buy. It consists of building your own park, naming it, creating roller coasters, thrill rides, waterparks, and more. This is the ULTIMATE tycooning game. A-Markets reccomends this to you because it is a HOT new release...

Summary: Awsome, totally awsome!
Review: This is over 100 times better than the origional, even with the expansion packs. The price is another good reason to buy this K.A. game.

Summary: Don't Bother. . . .
Review: The people still all look the same. There are women, children and old people in the real world, but in the "Rollercoaster Tycoon" world, thirtysomething men rule.
They still have multiple food/drink stalls. Wouldn't it make more sense to sell fries and burgers in the same stall with soda pop? DUH! Why for the love of God are there so many drink stalls? Can't they sell coffee and hot chocolate in the same stall? What about lemonade and soda pop? DOUBLE DUH! And why do we force them to buy drinks? Can't we sprinkle a few water fountains (the kind you drink out of) around the park? It seems to be the right thing to do for the poor teenager who can only afford the rides and not the soda pop for his equally broke date.
Why do we have to sell t-shirts, sunglasses, cuddly toys, and hats in different stalls? What the h!ll is a Souvenir Stall for if it doesn't sell every knick knack in the park? TRIPLE DUH!
The rain still makes the screen too dark, the puke still flies at unrealistic levels (you'd think the rain would wash it away), and your handymen still have no work ethic at all. I name my main handyman Joey Blake and I can't believe how lazy he is! You still have to constantly monitor handyman which really sucks the enjoyment out of the game when you have to grab one and make him sweep up that upchuck and empty that litter bin.
Nightfall would be a nice touch of realism. When it comes your lamps (if you have any) turn on to light the paths. It would create the point of having lamps.
And the park runs all the time. It NEVER closes! For the sake of reality the park should close and you could have a night crew of handymen who clean the h!ll out of the place for the next morning. Hopefully Joey Blake won't be on your crew.
What about snow? You get every kind of weather condition but snow. You might get some ice scenarios, but it doesn't snow in them, but it will rain in the ice scenarios for some reason.
Some things they did get right like making it easier to build rollercoasters and they seperated transporation rides from the gentle rides and water rides from the thrill rides. If that one positive point is good enough for you, buy this game. Other than that, it is merely another expansion pack of the first one. However, I am not going to say that this game isn't addictive because it is despite its horrible flaws.
