Rating: Summary: THIS IS THE BEST!!! Review: This game is the best game ever!!!! I love the part about making your own senario! If I could tell anyone what my favorite game is I would say Roller Coaster Tycoon 2.
Rating: Summary: Great Game Review: Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 is a great game for anyone who likes roller coasters and amusement parks and it is also good for anyone who likes tyccon games. The main point of the game is to built a theme park, built rides, built shops, hire people to work for you and get money. It sound easy but it is no. And it isn't too hard where you stay there a day trying to figure out how to play it. RCT2 is better then the first one because it has more rides and because it has rides and parks from Six Flags. I would give this game to someone from 8-18. You can even built roller coasters with the custom ride tool instead of using the track designs they give you.
Rating: Summary: I was a little disappointed Review: I got this game as a holiday gift and I tried hard to enjoy it but I've given up. I agree with a lot of the earlier reviews that there are a lot of improvements in the game but there is one large downgrade that just seems to ruin what should have been such a great game. The graphics. Essentially the graphics hasn't changed but what they decided to do was set the view farther out (on the closet zoom available). It gives you a larger area to see but ended up giving me a disconnected feeling. The people are smaller, the rides themselves feel smaller, the small details that made the first game so great have been blurred. The graphics also felt a little sluggish at times versus the original's smooth. I built the ride called Enterprise, having ridden the real version of this ride I know it's supposed to lift and decline smoothly as did all the rides in the original game; yet in this version the rides jerks and stops and jerks and stops until it rises to its peak and declines in the same fashion. If you are a detail oriented person, you'll love the new scenery and structures, you can easily spend hours on building one ride. As a casual gamer, I'd rather be able to build a ride in a fair amount of time and move on. It would be nicer if the game allowed you to build in the pause mode. I hope they add the best features of both these games until then I'll stick with the orignal RCT.
Rating: Summary: RTC2 Fun but the Same Review: RTC2 is fun but the same as RCT1. It is an expansion just with a few new features. The new rides/attractions are awesome. But the scenerios are the same as the first. If you had RCT1 then it will be fun until you start getting to the old stuff.
Rating: Summary: Not Worth It Review: I really don't think this game is worth buying. For one main reason, you cannot use your saved games from RCT1 which just doesn't seem right and secondly, there aren't very many scenarios. The graphics do however look better and the game runs more smoothly. I like the new themes as well, but it isn't much fun if you can't use the old scenarios and saved games from RCT1. If anyone found a way to use your saved games and old scenarios, then email me please!
Rating: Summary: Improves on the first! Review: Roller Coaster Tycoon was a game that you could easily find yourself playing for hours into the wee hours of the night. The expansion packs added more coasters and rides but little else. Now, Version 2 is out and is it worth buying? I would say yes, but in some ways I was a little disappointed. On the plus side, there are a TON of rides and new scenery and shops. Far far more than were in the original game. There are a lot more ways you can customize your ride as well, from the usual color choices, to lots of music selections and new entrance and exit choices. There are many more scenerios, which are happily organized into levels so you can start at the beginner level and work your way up. The game supports a higher screen resolution and you can now create your own scenarios and design coasters apart from the game itself. On the down side, as a previous player I found some things hard to find as they've been moved around and re-organized a bit. I suppose it's fine for new players, and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but in most cases, I really didn't even see the point. I would have liked more coaster and ride designs as well. Really disappointed with how many offer just one selection for a pre-designed ride. There should be at least two I think for every ride. I also got a bit frustrated with some of the scenarios. You would start working on a park and the rating would go south before you really had time to figure out what the park's problems were, and would be virtually impossible to recover from. Oh well, I guess some people will enjoy the challenge. I just found it annoying. And the look of the game is basically identical. Guests walking around and riding the rides, very cartoony look to everything, same type of staff options, etc. No real changes to what guests do for instance. I didn't really expect much change from what the box showed, but would have been nice to see more. Overall, I loved all the new rides and options, but it really is just a lot of the same game. If you loved the original, you'll definitely like this game too. But here's hoping a version 3 will show us a bit more innovation.
Rating: Summary: fun to be in charge Review: The game is so much fun because you get to make money and rollercoasters and be the owner of theme park.
Rating: Summary: The Best PC Game is Back...But... Review: Like most people that have reviewed this game, I spent that last couple of years addicted to Roller Coaster Tycoon and its two expansion packs. When I first got the game I couldn't put it down. Days flew by and seemed like only hours. Well, I was hoping that this game would carry on in the tradition. Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 has a few great features that makes it worth the purchase. They are the coaster and scenario editors. You can build your coaster without taking time from playing a scenario. With the scenario editor you can build your own landscape, decide which rides and stands get to be in your park, and you get to choose the themes. Basically, you are allowed to build the park of your dreams. That is the great part of the game and that's why it's worth buying. Also, there are quite a few new roller coaster and shops/stall designs available. I was disappointed that there weren't more flat rides but that's minor, and that's what expansion packs are for. I read on a PC gaming website that there will be an expansion pack for RCT2, and it's due out in June of 2003. Only time will tell if this is true but I'm sure it is. I just hope that attention is paid to what the fans want since we are the ones buying the game. Instead of just going for our money, make it worth something. On the down side, the new themes and scenarios are a might disappointing. The themes are very basic and don't go into much detail. Though, I do like the fact that the insects move in the garden themeing. Also, the elevator/oil derrick ride is bad. My people will ride to the top but then not come down. There is no fee to ride but they just stay at the top and begin complaining about not being able to find the exit. This brings the park rating to 0 and I've tried everything to fix it. I eventually just stopped building it becuase it was too aggrevating. I thought the characters were supposed to be more advanced in this new game? Anyway, the majority of the new rides are great! Lastly, the scenarios are a bit aggrevating. Though, I like the fact that the Six Flags parks are portrayed in this game. I enjoy being able to play them and add on what I want to expand the park with. It's nice to have control of a park that really exists. I also enjoy being able to build my own parks, but the new scenarios in the game are quite challenging. I have a really hard time getting new people to come into the park, and I also have a hard time pleasing them. This wasn't a problem with the first game or its expansion packs. I have lost the majority of the scenarios becuase I can't get people into the parks or I can't make them happy enough. Maybe that's just a personal problem but like I said, I completed every level of the first 3 games. Overall, this game is good, but I recommend the original RCT and its expansion packs to first-time users. There is more enjoyment to be had with those. Bring on the RCT2 expansion pack, though. I can't wait for June 2003 to see what's new!
Rating: Summary: Very Cool, Surprises Ahead! Review: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 is very cool for both the scenery types, roller coaster types, and also geust pleaser types. You can play all different ways too! There is a roller coaster director, which is pretty cool, although kind of weird the way everything is black except roller coasters. And there is the scenario director. This is my favorite aspect. You can pretty much anything. You can set the money, and everything. I know that my mom and dad were also happy the way you get business knowledge while playing this game. One of the cool things about this game is that you can take it to the max. The guests think so many different things, you can see what their fave ride is and everything. I would definetley recommend this game to anyone who is rady for a cahllenge! So play YOUR way and get RCT2! :-) rach*
Rating: Summary: Bravo, Bravo! Review: If you are even mildly interest in simuation games, or maybe even theme parks you will LOVE this game. That is no exaggeration. Roller Coaster Tycoon will provide you with hours of entertainment with its wild and endless scenarios, hundreds of rides, themes, and the general idea of money-making and the various problems that come with it. I HIGHLY recommend this game! YOU WILL **LOVE** IT!
