Rating: Summary: Fun, challenging, you don't get bored with it.... Review: I only have the trial version because the real game is so expensive, but Rise of Nations is great! It is very easy to play if you have had any of the Age of Empires games. It is a replica except you can pass the age of empires on to the modern world. You start out with one age, and you can update your ages through your libraries studies. It requires a lot of other studies from Military, Civics, Commerce, and Science. If you want, you can build wonders (exp. Statue of Liberty, Versailles, Terra Cotta Army, Space program) but it requires a certain age, a certain amount of stuff (exp. Medevil Age, timber, gold, metal, knowledge, food, oil, etc.). CAUTION: If you start building the same wonder after your opponent does, and your opponent finishes it before you, it destroys the wonder. The Terra Cotta Army wonder is great because it allows you to get armymen always and always. You build barracks, stables, sieges, airbases, missile bases to get people, horses, machines, airplanes, and missiles attacking your opponents. At first, you can only build a barracks and some army people. Then you get to build a stable, and siege. Eventually, a siege factory turns into a factory. Then later, once you get to the industrial age, you can build airplane bases and missile bases. Keeps/Towers/Castles will attack opponents and protect cities, buildings, etc. It cost timber, food, gold, metal, knowledge, etc. to build buildings like cities, farms, lumber mills, metal mills, granaries, etc. too.Pros Great graphics! Cooler than any other game in its class It is pretty fun to play with a friend You can be alot of people, go to different ages that Age of Empires doesn't allow you too, and you don't get bored easily because there is always something to do! Cons Price! Sound! Campaigns are very challenging... I've played the real version once. When you don't have a lot of supplies you are stuck
Rating: Summary: This is a cool game Review: I really like strategy games where you settle and build. This game has very good graphics but what is bad part is the thing where you can't zoom in very close. The campains aren't very long like some other games. The conquer the world campaign is'nt my favorite part of the game but it will keep you occupied for a while but it is slow to advance to the next age.I really have fun with this game and I recomend it for all that like Strategy games.
Rating: Summary: Rise of nothing! Review: Rise of the nations does not suck nor it is a superhit.Starting's ok but then,BORING.It's just one of those stragety games which have gone bum after a few days. The controller is pretty sluggish. The countries are almost the same. There is not even one part in the game where 'oh!It's so exiting' comes to your mind.Warcraft is much better.Beleive me
Rating: Summary: Best Strategy Game In a Looooong Time Review: I play just about every RTS game that comes out, and this is the best one since the now-dated Age series. Game runs impressivly well on my older system. The background of the designers of Alpha Centuari and Civ II is clearly present.
Rating: Summary: They keep on risin' Review: Rise of nations is, hands down, my favorite RTS of the times. From the second I plugged myself into this emerssive piece of softwhere brilliance I was hooked. When you first start the game, there is a tutorial that you can actually play through, wich is great because you can learn the game and have a blast doing it. Also, the campaign is wonderfull because instead of a story, it presents you with a world strategy map, and your job is to conquer the world. You have "armies" wich are little game peices, and if you place them on an enemy country, youll engage in a skirmish. Sometimes you will have to defend on the other hand, wich is also always fun. If you take an enemies capitol, thats great for you because you get ALL their territory after that. Of course, like any other RTS, the real fun is in the multiplayer and skirmishes, not in the campaign, but the sinlge player game remains a fun, and engaging way to learn the ropes of this one. Another exciting feature of this game is the brilliant system of making battles look huge. It keeps the same population limit as AoE BUT if you build a unit, you get more than one of them, but on the pop counter, it counts as one unit. Allowing for some sweet looking HUGE battles for you to enjoy watching and participating in. Gameplay for the most part, is pretty much like Age of Empires, however you advance farther in time, and many of the problems found in AoE have been fixed in rise of nations. Pretty much, if you enjoyed AoE, you will LOVE this game, but I suggest everyone else gives it a try as well, I throughly enjoy it, and I have trouble with alot of rts games. PROS: Emmersive gameplay Tons of options, allowing for countless strategies Cool campaign mode TONS of upgrades Lots of armies CONS: all countries are pretty much the same Almost feels like TOO Many resources Outdated graphics
Rating: Summary: Required: Some one smarter than Mr. Dizzle to play Review: The only problem with Rise of Nations, is that it might actually take some intelect to play. There is alot going on in the game, which means you have to pay attention to minor details. This is not a game that "any idiot" can play such as Mr. Dizzle. If you want a game that takes RTS's to the next level, and enjoy a little bit of a challenge, Rise of Nations is for you. Once you play it you will realize the thought and time that the development team must have put into the game.
Rating: Summary: Overblown game Review: Once again, "tank rush" is the operative word. Makers of strategy games don't truly get the picture yet and this one is no exception. Who ever builds quickest and overruns their opponent wins. Play is simplistic, tactics are a waste of time and winning is incredible easy at all levels. If you want something to kill time, don't really want to think or be challanged, then jump on this. If not, there are better, including some of the developers earlier games.

Rating: Summary: Guys... Review: Some people don't know what they are talking about. All games are designed for different systems. Just because it doesn't work on your's doesn't mean you can insult and laugh at the Microsoft crew. They work hard to create this game. The problem may be with one of the protection programs or the background ones, or maybe it's just your settings. It could be your outdated components, or maybe you just overexaggerate. What ever the problem, this does not give you a right to put down a good game! I had the same problem with the 'Freelancer' reviewers. OK, every single game has it's down sides and it's up sides. You should at least have played all the functions and the game for at least 2 weeks before judging it. One reviewer said it was no good, nothing special and 2 stars and 2 weeks later he wrote another review saying how he was wrong and he gave it a full 5 dtars!!! And obviously some people think that the demo is good enough. Some write a review with no basis and some write it based on demos. If you want an accurate review, PLAY THE GAME!!
Rating: Summary: A decent start, but.... Review: I'm a fan of all these RTS games, and Age of Empires is still the winner. While there are some improved gameplay features, Rise of Nations seems rushed to market, with no scenarios or great history lessons like Age of Empires and Empire Earth. I'm a history buff, and was always impressed with Age of Empires campaigns ability to teach while you were playing it. Is this game just a foundation to sell more follow-on scenario packs? If so, that's slimy. Other gameplay features missing: no ability to build walls! The advancement from age to age is also far too quick - Empire Earth does a much better job here. I do think the graphics and overall interface is nicer than EE though. Overall, a dissapointment.
