Summary: Homeworld2 Demo does not live up to the past!
Review: After playing the demo I notice that Homeworld2 Sucks in comparison to Cataclysm or the original Homeworld. They changed the controls for the worst. The AI sucks it seems they removed what made the original so unique in the fact that Tactics were very important. This game has become a C&C Copy. To win all you do is build up a massive fleet and in one big group you crush the other player the question is who builds and collects money the fastest. So unless Relic fixes the AI issue I would wait on this title till you see some real reviews. I could not believe how much they ruined the game! I was just Amazed at the incompetents of Relic or who ever actually created the game.

They should have done more testing with actual gamers!

Summary: Demo = Great!
Review: The demo for this game came out just two days ago, and I have to say, Homeworld 2 will be awesome. The detail on all of the ships, especially the mothership and Tanis station are just freaking awesome. The battles are like being in the middle of a space world war II, with the black explosions of flak frigates and fighters dodging around. It sounds like you are in the middle of the battle; the explosions sound and look so real you will believe that you are in the game.

I've played the other two homeworld games, and i have to say, that although I have only played the two single and two multiplayer levels in the demo, it looks like it will be even better.

I've already pre-ordered...have you?

Summary: One word -- Fantastic
Review: When Relic Entertainment first confirmed Homeworld2 was in development in 2002, they promised a fantastic evolutionary game, building on the revolutionary play of Homeworld. They have certainly delivered on this promise, as Homeworld2 is both beautiful to look at and fun to play.

The most noticable change in Homeworld2 (in comparison with Homeworld 1 and Homeworld: Cataclysm) is the graphics. No longer are ship explosions static and predictable, or the weapons static and unrealistic, but instead are glorious and spectacular to see. The miniscule details Relic has introduced--such as vents opening and closing on ships to release gases, or the detailed shadows on the hulls--are enough to excite the senses.

Another advancement is the fluidity at which the game moves. The 360 degree camera angles revolutionized in Homeworld 1 are a bit less static in HW2, and it seems as if there is a smooth transition when rotating the view around ships. The ships also make smoother turns when flying, fire realistic looking weaponry (the flak cannon is thrilling to watch), and seem to be alive on your screen.

The sound quality in this game is wonderful as well. In full battle, every sound, every engine adjustment and cannon firing can be heard. It truly sounds like all out war with the speakers on max and a full out battle in progress.

The gameplay is another perk. While it takes a while to understand where all the controls are, a helpful tutorial is included with the game to aide in understanding all the little nooks and crannies, and how to use them. Once understood, Homeworld2 can be an experience in itself, drawing you in (easily losing track of time!) and exciting all of your senses.

Another great feature is the multiplayer mode. While the option to play one or several CPU characters on various levels of difficulty exists, the gameplay is at times tedious and a bit boring (although whenever a battle ensues, the boredom quickly vanishes :-) ). But the preferable option would be to play online with other people. It is by far the most realistic and entertaining of the two choices. Going online is simple--all you need is a modem and you're ready.

All of these prizes come with a price, though. Lower-end machines will have a tough time processing all the action scenes. While most of the features can be turned off (such as shadows, detailed explosions, etc.), Homeworld2 wouldn't be Homeworld2 without those details. I strongly advise you to check out your machine before buying it, and make sure it meets (preferably exceeding) the minimum requirements.

Homeworld2 promises to be spectacular. Buy this game; you won't regret it!

Summary: Keep it straight
Review: Let's clear something up here. Homeworld Cataclysm is not Homeworld2, and it's not an expansion, either, it's stand-alone. Cataclysm is the one with the Beast, Homeworld2 is the one with the Vaygr that hasn't even been released yet. Too many people are posting reviews for Cataclysm here, which is for Homeworld2. Go to the Cataclysm review sites, not this one. It kinda confuses some people.

Summary: I just tried the Homeworld 2 demo
Review: It looks and plays just like Homeworld only the atmosphere seems to be missing. The music is weak. The new captain is cold and boring. I don't see anything innovative. You can't go inside the ships. It doesn't meet the standards the original Homeworld set. Seems like they could have turned out this installment after a couple of months. What have they been doing the last four years?

Summary: Homeworld 2 will be an instant classic
Review: If you like sci-fi, strategy games, and great stories, then Homeworld 2 will be your holy grail. No, it is not out at the time of this review, but let me tell you something. You could go back in time to 1999 and erase the original Homeworld's release, and release it now in 2003 instead, and it would still top other new stragegy games and get great reviews. Homeworld 2 is a promise to improve all the things that made Homeworld 1 so great. If you don't like sci-fi, strategy games, or great stories...buy Homeworld 2 anyway. You will be converted. Enough said.

Summary: This is Homeworld 2...Not Cataclysm
Review: Dear Amazon Customer,

Please pay no attention to negative reviews of Homeworld 2 that are actually directed to the Homeworld expansion ...Homeworld:Cataclysm.

Homeworld was ground breaking, moving, and finely balanced for an incredible gaming experience. Nuff said... buy the first if you haven't already.

Cataclysm lacked the impact of the first but was pretty cool in its own right. I replayed one of the cataclysm missions over and over again until I could save all of the passenger ships. Cataclysm had something to be proud of also. And you know you're lying if you didn't get a giant grin every time you zapped an opponent with your beast ray online and heard their entire crew scream in agony because you knew your opponent heard the same cries on the other end. If you haven't bought cataclysm yet wait until you get bored of the first and the third (which I guarantee won't happen for a number of years)

Homeworld 2 hasn't come out yet but download the trailer (which is actually video of in game action) and you will see why I gave this game 5 stars before I have played it.

So in a couple weeks there will be three Homeworld games don't get them confused. Homeworld 2 promises to be very cool and unlike another review at amazon it IS made by Relic, the people who made the original...besides there are gonna be space marines as we know all games containing space marines are must buys.

p.s. Amazon...please remove the reviews that confuse Homeworld 2 with Homeworld Cataclysm.

Summary: Homeworld 2 a major jaw-dropper
Review: You know, alot of people usually say a sequal, whether for a game or a movie or something else, is rarely as good as the first.Well my friends, I think we're gonna prove that wrong.

The first Homeworld was a beautiful spectacle, taking imagination, masterful graphics, and a complete immersion into the Homeworld Universe. On level 3,As you play out the level, seeing that first cryo tray full of over 100,000 people on board be murdered, I almost cried. Then, with burning hatred and revenge, See the kushan people chase after the fleet that massecred their home and their people, I cheered for them.

If Homeworld 2 can take us as deep into the video game as the original, watchout people, we got Homeworld zombies on the loose!

Summary: Hopefull
Review: Homeworld was "Amazing". Cataclysm was "Good". This trend better not continue or I would have to give Sierra the "Confederacy of Dunces" award. I really loved Homeworld and what was done with that game....

If you dont understand what Im saying here then I hope to God you dont work for Sierras dev. team. Your probably "management".

Summary: Home World 2 should be Great Fun
Review: Home World 2 is going to be a great game. I'm desperately waiting for its release in Hong Kong, although I have not played Homeworld 1. The graphics look great on the magazines, and the RTS Style fully 3 dimensional should be spectacular. Space is the setting of the game, and should catch your attention very well. If you are going to get only one game this coming month, get Home World 2. I promise that it is going to be a fun filled September for you. On the other hand, Sierra always churns out nice games.
